Jack of All Widgets 2.3.5
Jack of All Widgets - Universal search widget for Dashboard. more>> Jack of All Widgets - Universal search widget for Dashboard.
JackWidget is a multi-purpose search tool. It has a search field and a popup menu.
The search field, of course, is for typing in the search. The popup menu is for selecting which site or sites to search. Some of the popup choices will send your search to several websites at once.
The simplest way to use it is to select a search from the popup menu and then type in some search terms and hit return. It also supports CLI-style usage, bypassing the popup menu. It has over two dozen searches built in, and is infinitely customizable (if you know how to open a widget package and edit XML).

WeatherMe X 3.1
I enjoy flying X-Plane with real weather and in 1998 created a simple program to automatically keep the weather data up-to-date more>> I enjoy flying X-Plane with real weather and in 1998 created a simple program to automatically keep the weather data up-to-date. Over the years, WeatherMe has evolved to track changes in X-Plane as well as user requests. WeatherMes goal is to operate without human intervention and to do one thing well.
WeatherMe checks for new weather every 20 minutes. Starting with Release 3.0, the user now has a choice of three different sets of weather data: two from NOAA plus the original UMN site. UMN remains the default so if you fly destinations outside the USA you may want to select one of the NOAA options in the Preferences dialog. The users choice of weather data is saved in a preference file. I caution against assuming NOAA is the best source for data. In my experience, it is less reliable than UMN though it does have the advantage of more extensive geographic coverage. For more information, please see the Readme and NOAA text files in the WeatherMe package. This status window is displayed in the lower left corner of your display. GRASS GIS 6.4rc5
Geographic resources analysis support system. more>>
GRASS GIS 6.4rc5 is stand for Geographic Resources Analysis Support System, which used for data management, image processing, graphics production, spatial modelling, and visualization of many types of data. It is Free (Libre) Software/Open Source released under GNU General Public License (GPL). GRASS is official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation.
Originally developed by the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (USA-CERL, 1982-1995), a branch of the US Army Corp of Engineers, as a tool for land management and environmental planning by the military, GRASS has evolved into a powerful utility with a wide range of applications in many different areas of scientific research. GRASS is currently used in academic and commercial settings around the world, as well as many governmental agencies including NASA, NOAA, USDA, DLR, CSIRO, the National Park Service, the U.S. Census Bureau, USGS, and many environmental consulting companies.
The new GRASS 6 release introduces a new topological 2D/3D vector engine and support for vector network analysis. Attributes are now managed in a SQL-based DBMS. A new display manager has been implemented. The NVIZ visualization tool was enhanced to display 3D vector data and voxel volumes. Messages are partially translated (i18N) with support for FreeType fonts, including multibyte Asian characters. New LOCATIONs can be auto-generated by EPSG code number. GRASS is integrated with GDAL/OGR libraries to support an extensive range of raster and vector formats, including OGC-conformal Simple Features.
The GRASS Development Team has grown into a multi-national team consisting of developers at numerous locations.
In September 2006, the GRASS Project Steering Commitee was formed which is responsible for the overall management of the project. The PSC is especially responsible for granting SVN write access.
Major Features:
- GRASS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) is a raster/vector GIS, image processing system, and graphics production system.
- GRASS contains over 350 programs and tools to render maps and images on monitor and paper; manipulate raster, vector, and sites data; process multi spectral image data; and create, manage, and store spatial data.
- GRASS uses both an intuitive windows interface as well as command line syntax for ease of operations.
- GRASS can interface with commercial printers, plotters, digitizers, and databases to develop new data as well as manage existing data.
- GRASS supports workgroups through its LOCATION/MAPSET concept which can be set up to share data over NFS (Network File System). Keeping LOCATIONs with their underlying MAPSETs on a central server, a team can simultaneously work in the same project database.
- GRASS is released under GNU GPL, the source code (5.x: more than 1 million lines of C; 6.x 500k SLOC) is completely available.
- GRASS provides a sophisticated GIS library which can be used for own developments.
Enhancements:
- New modules
- Major module changes
- Minor module changes
- Library changes
- Driver changes
- GUI changes
- Portability changes
- Build changes
- Documentation updates
- Message translation updates
- Closed tickets
- Closed bugs since branching
