Rumpus 6.1.2

Rumpus 6.1.2

Rumpus is such an essential and useful tool when you want to allow people from within your office or across the Internet to send, receive, and manage files on a central Mac. more>>

Rumpus 6.1.2 is such an essential and useful tool when you want to allow people from within your office or across the Internet to send, receive, and manage files on a central Mac.

Whether you need to accept graphics files from remote locations, manage content on a Web server, or coordinate a work group with a single file server that everyone can access, Rumpus is the answer. Rumpus FTP can handle virtually any Internet file transfer task by working with standard FTP and Web clients on any platform, and do it with remarkable ease.

Major Benefits:

  1. Improve Your Customer Service
    • When people need to send you a big file, or you need to share one with a client, it should be fast, professional and easy. Rumpus does away with the hassles of e-mail attachments and snail-mailing CDs, making it easier for your customers to do business with you.
  2. Streamline Your Workflow
    • When a file comes in, Rumpus can notify the right people in your company, depending on who sent it. Notification is instantaneous, and since the file is sent directly to your network, it's right there, ready for you to work with.
  3. Save Your Money
    • With Rumpus, there are no recurring ISP fees outside of your standard Internet connection cost. And since files are transferred directly between your customers and you, even your Internet bandwidth is used as efficiently as possible.
  4. Brand Your Business
    • Because the Rumpus interface is fully customizable, it can easily be integrated into your existing Web site. And your clients can bookmark your file transfer service, putting you just a click away.
  5. Look Like A Pro
    • Ever been asked for your FTP address? People that deal with large file transfers on a regular basis are used to dealing with FTP. Rumpus is a standards-compliant, full-featured FTP server, so when someone asks if they can "FTP you a file", just give them the address of your server.
Major Features:
  1. Web File Management
    • The most popular FTP clients are Web browsers. They are also, almost universally, the worst FTP clients. Web browser FTP problems range from simply displaying information poorly to flat-out not supporting basic features like file upload. Rumpus offers a unique solution to this problem through the Web File Manager, which puts an attractive HTML interface on your FTP server. In reality, Rumpus includes a built-in Web server that delivers most of the same features of FTP using a simple, customizable HTTP interface. You just won't find the Web File Manager, or anything like it, in OS X's FTP server (or any other FTP server, for that matter).
  2. Support
    • When you have a problem with your server(s), how important is it that you get answers? Maxum offers free, unlimited technical support. Send an e-mail to Maxum about Rumpus, and you will get a solid answer from a qualified person, usually in a matter of hours (or less).
  3. Secure And Simple User Administration
    • With Rumpus, you create and maintain user accounts in a single, easy to use window, and those users gain access to the server only through Rumpus. So not only is Rumpus user management a snap, but you can rest assured that users won't gain access to unexpected services running on your Mac.
  4. Advanced Features: The FTP implementation in OS X is solid, but basic. Rumpus, on the other hand, is every bit as stable and reliable, but offers advanced features you just won't find in OS X. Here are a few (but there are many more).
    • Upload Notices - Get an e-mail when selected users send you a file.
    • RumpusStat Monitoring Widget - Check the status of your server, and recent file activity, from your own desktop Mac dashboard.
    • Real-time Activity Reporting - See who is logged on, and what they are doing, at a glance.
    • Logging - Rumpus maintains 4 distinct log files to let you see who is using your server, and how. And logs can be rolled automatically.
    • More Security - Rumpus offers still more security features, like automatic hacker detection and blocking, alias recognition and disabling, and more.
    • Web-Based User Administration - You can create users from anywhere on the 'net via a Web browser, and your users can rotate their own passwords with a simple Web interface.
    • Support For Private LANs - Rumpus not only works great inside of private networks with "port forwarding" routers, but include simple instructions on how to configure Rumpus and your network.
    • Full User Documentation - Look at the User's Guide and Help articles that come with Rumpus, then look at the documentation you get with OS X FTP...
  5. MacBinary Support
    • Put simply, Rumpus fully supports the MacBinary protocol and OS X FTP does not. This means that Mac files transferred to your FTP server will remain Mac files if you use Rumpus (and FTP clients like Fetch, Interarchy, Transmit, etc.), but not if you use OS X FTP. Files transferred without MacBinary lose their Finder information and resource forks, an inconvenience at best, and resulting in corrupt files at worst.

Enhancements:

  • The Active Users window now correctly defaults to the first tab.
  • The "Insert Token" function on AppleScript and Shell Script notices now always works correctly.
  • The thumbnail generation status window now opens properly.
  • Rumpus now installs and runs properly on case-sensitive file systems.
  • Corrected a bug which could cause compatibility issues with older WFM template sets.
  • Folders marked for thumbnail display can now be deleted as usual when empty. (The thumbnail cache folder caused the folder to be considered not empty.)
  • Corrected modal dialog operation on the Web-based user management pages in the Boxes appearance.
  • Added "UTF8" to the FTP "features" list to improve character encoding compatibility with clients that recognize it.
  • Added validity check to "Create Domain" function to prevent invalid domain creation.
  • Added "GMTOffsetHours" config file directive which allows the local time zone to be over-ridden with a specific time offset.
  • The WFM is now correctly enabled when Web services are turned on after the Setup Assistant.
  • Corrected 2 potential string processing buffer overrun problems.

Requirements:

  • Rumpus 6 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Any Mac OS X system capable of running OS X 10.4 will generally make a fine Rumpus file server, since Rumpus' RAM and CPU requirements are minimal. Typical DSL, T1, cable modem, and even faster Internet connections will normally be the limiting factor in file transfer performance, not the server itself. You should, of course, be sure to have adequate disk space available on the server to store the content that will be uploaded and downloaded to and from the server.
  • Both the Rumpus application and server daemon are provided as Universal Binary executables, and run natively on PowerPC and Intel based Macs.

Hydra 2.1.3

Hydra 2.1.3

Hydra is created as an effective editor tool using a number of regular photographs (up to four) with different exposures (darker and lighter) to create a superior one which is much closer to what ones eye can see more>>

Hydra 2.1.3 is created as an effective editor tool using a number of regular photographs (up to four) with different exposures (darker and lighter) to create a superior one which is much closer to what one's eye can see. This is because a single photograph cannot represent the full gamut of light because of physical limitations in the sensor. This process is also known as a high dynamic range, or HDR, imaging. See the screencast tutorials for more information on how to acquire such images with your camera.

The output produced by Hydra is much closer to what your eye actually sees. You don't have to choose whether to have a beautiful sky or buildings, take 2 photos (or more) with perfect parameters for each of them, then combine them with Hydra.

The images that Hydra uses are not required to be taken with a tripod, as it is usually the case with HDR software. Hydra uses the same warping algorithm as Morph Age, which permits the alignment of images with offsets above a few pixels. This is a unique feature that means you can take photos anywhere without a tripod to later blend them in Hydra. This will change your way of making HDRs.

Major Features:

  1. Input Images
    • Images (TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PSD, PDF, RAW, DNG, PEF and most other file formats)
    • Exposure Value Calculator
    • Input filters (contrast, sharpness, color temperature)

    • Plug-In (processing within Aperture with the same interface as in the stand-alone version)
  4. Application Support
    • Real-Time Preview
    • Document Saving (choice of the file name and directory)
  5. Alignment

X Lossless Decoder 20090828

X Lossless Decoder 20090828 is a helpful tool for Mac OS X that is able to decode/convert/play various lossless audio files. more>>

X Lossless Decoder 20090828 is a helpful tool for Mac OS X with the ability to decode/convert/play various 'lossless' audio files. The supported audio files can be split into some tracks with cue sheet when decoding. It works on Mac OS X 10.3 and later.

Major Features:

  1. Support various formats: Formats supported by Libsndfile are also decodable. XLD uses not decoder frontend but library to decode, so no intermediate files are generated. All of the supported formats can be directly split with the cue sheet. XLD also supports so-called 'embedded' or 'internal' cue sheet. Currently you can choose output format from WAVE,AIFF and Raw PCM. In addition, you can choose Ogg Vorbis (aoTuV), MPEG-4 AAC (QuickTime/CoreAudio), MP3 (LAME), Apple Lossless, FLAC and HE-AAC (aacPlus v1/v2) in the GUI version. XLD supports the following formats:
    • (Ogg) FLAC (.flac/.ogg)
    • Monkey's Audio (.ape)
    • Wavpack (.wv)
    • TTA (.tta)
    • Apple Lossless (.m4a) [10.4 and later]
    • AIFF, WAV, etc
  2. Plug-in oriented design: Frontend and backend of XLD are prefectry separated, so the frontend is able to access the various decoder with the same interface. If we provide plug-in interface in the future, you can easily develop the plug-in of the new format. If you are interested in this, please see XLDDecoder.h in the source files.

Enhancements:

  • Supported the new HE-AAC encoder in Snow Leopard. To use, check "Encode with HE-AAC" checkbox in the option dialog of MPEG-4 AAC encoder. In HE-AAC encoder, true VBR is not available and available bitrate is limited (24-80kbps).
  • Existing "MPEG-4 HE-AAC" encoder is still available, but this is different from the Apple's one. Fixed a small problem in CD info.cidb parser
  • Updated internal drive offset database
  • Updated Simplified Chinese resources

MultiScreener 0.95

MultiScreener 0.95

MultiScreener has come as a useful packed tool of freeware applications to synchronize the playback of QuickTime movies on multiple computers, using a local network to tie them all together. more>> MultiScreener 0.95 has come as a useful packed tool of freeware applications to synchronize the playback of QuickTime movies on multiple computers, using a local network to tie them all together.

It is intended for multi-channel video art, video walls, etc. I designed it as an artist-friendly low-budget alternative to the expensive combo of industrial DVD players (Pioneer DVD-V7400, DVD-V5000) and Dave Jones Design sync boxes. Those systems are fantastic, but if you have a few computers and a network hub, MultiScreener is worth a try.

There are two applications: Server and Client. The server plays a movie and sends position information over the network. Each client "listens" to the server and subtly adapts its movie playback speed to stay in sync. There is no limit to the number of clients (but you need a computer for each one).

Looping and de-interlacing are available, and all settings are automatically saved for unattended startup. MultiScreener can output to the computer screen or external video devices (like DV cameras or decks). There is no native resolution or frame-rate, so all QuickTime video formats are supported equally. In my tests, DV NTSC movies synced perfectly on Dual 867 G4 towers through the latest Intel machines, but HD formats will probably demand more horsepower. (HD is untested as of May 2008.)

Enhancements:
  • Changed to GPL 3.0 license
  • Recompiled with MAX5
  • Tested HD playback
  • Fixed: Fixed error in client timing comparison (improved sync accuracy)
  • Fixed: Fixed occasional loss or overwrite of xml preferences file
  • Fixed: client sync meter was sometimes inaccurate
  • Fixed: Simplified and optimized speed-control math
  • Fixed: Simplified window-position save/recall at startup
  • Fixed: Counters sometimes displayed wrong times
  • Fixed: Now uses more conservative timing when entering/exiting fullscreen
  • Fixed: Changed size of filename display to accommodate long filenames
  • Fixed: changed "Way Off!" indicator into "Finding Frame" indicator
  • Added: "Mute Sound" button added
  • Added: "Hide Mouse in Full-Screen" button added
  • Added: Client now indicates playback speed
  • Added: Client now has user-settable frame offset
Requirements:
  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Now you can enjoy all of your favorite Atari 2600 games on your PC thanks to this game For many years, the Atari 2600 reigned supreme as the most popular game console on the market more>> Now you can enjoy all of your favorite Atari 2600 games on your PC thanks to this game

For many years, the Atari 2600 reigned supreme as the most popular game console on the market.
Years later, Ataris stranglehold on the market would dissipate as the Nintendo Entertainment System redefined 8-bit gaming, but die-hard fans and collectors still continue to support the Atari.
One would think that the weak Atari 2600 should be simple to emulate, because of its primitive architecture.
It is very difficult to write a efficient and working emulator because the Atari programmers used many devious tricks to make such an early machine to function.

Enhancements
- Added CRT simulation effects as described in the AtariAge posting
- CRT emulation for Stella. For now, this requires OpenGL 2.0 or
- greater with support for GLSL (GL Shading Language). This code
- will be expanded on and optimized in future releases.
- Adding editing of extended RAM in the debugger RAM UI. The RAM
- spreadsheet now shows the entire address space of RAM in the
- system, in 128 byte increments. The first bank shown is zero-page,
- with the others following in consecutive order. The UI takes care
- of read vs. write port differences, so you dont have to worry
- about the offsets. For now, all SuperChip based ROMs (EFSC, F4SC,
- F6SC, F8SC) as well as 3E, CV, E7 and FASC are supported.
- All ROMs which include SC extended RAM will now have memory erased if
- you attempt to read from the write port. Related to this,
- entering/exiting the debugger will no longer erase the extended RAM.
- Patching of ROM for bankswitch types 0840, SB, UA and X07 is now
- implemented, but hasnt been extensively tested.
- Visual improvements to the CPU register UI in the debugger; the
- SP/A/X/Y registers now have separate decimal and binary views.
- Tweaked paddle control so that all positions are reachable in game
- 4 of Activision Casino in both NTSC and PAL versions.
- SuperCharger/AR ROMs now start with a random value in the CPU
- accumulator. This should fix issues with Dragonstomper always
- starting in exactly the same state.
- Auto-detection for 3F bankswitching improved; several ROMs
- previously detected as F8 now work correctly.
- Updated internal ROM properties database to ROM-Hunter version 5
- (thanks go to RomHunter for his tireless research in this area).
- Added -exitlauncher commandline argument and associated UI item,
- to specify what happens when you exit a ROM. Normally, exiting a
- ROM brings up the ROM launcher, but this can be disabled for those
- using an external frontend (in which case exiting a ROM also exits
- from Stella).
- Re-added -fastscbios commandline argument, and added an associated
- UI item. When enabled, the SuperCharger load bars are now completely
- removed (and not just sped up as in previous releases).
- The -listrominfo commandline argument now shows all ROM
- information built in to the internal database, taking into account
- any information in personal stella.pro files.

BaseTen 1.7

BaseTen 1.7

Cocoa database framework for working with PostgreSQL databases. BaseTen is a freeware, open source database framework created in Cocoa for working with PostgreSQL databases more>> Cocoa database framework for working with PostgreSQL databases.

BaseTen is a freeware, open source database framework created in Cocoa for working with PostgreSQL databases. BaseTen has been designed with familiar, Core Data -like semantics and APIs.

Main features:
- BaseTen Assistant imports Core Data / Xcode data models.
- Discovers the database schema automatically at runtime, including 1-1, 1-many and many-many relationships.
- Database changes are propagated to clients automatically, without polling.
- In-memory database objects are uniqued, and objects fetched via relationships are faults by default.
- Support for RDBMS features like database-driven data validation, multi-column primary keys and updateable views.
- Autocommit and manual save/rollback modes, both with NSUndoManager integration.
- A BaseTen-aware NSArrayController subclass automates locking and change propagation.
- Fetches are specified with NSPredicates (the relevant portions of which are evaluated on the database).

System requirements:
-
- AppKit for the optional BXSynchronizedArrayController.
-

Enhancements
BaseTen:
- BaseTens date and time type handling has been significantly overhauled.
- Timestamp and datetime types are now always returned as NSDates.
- NSDates are stored into the database in UTC. When fetching, database values are assigned the UTC time zone, or, if they are qualified with some other time zone on the database, converted to UTC.
- NSCalendar is now used instead of NSCalendarDate when converting NSDates to date strings.
- PostgreSQL "time" types are now handled. On the Cocoa side, they are converted to NSDates with the appropriate time offset from the reference date.
- New and changed data type support
- The XML data type can now be fetched as NSXMLDocument. This happens if the database schema is enforcing document-only values with a constraint such as CHECK(column IS DOCUMENT).
- "bit" and "varbit" fields are now fully supported. They are fetched as NSStrings because they cant easily be represented as octets.
- In additiong to fetching "point" fields as NSPoints, NSPoint values can now be saved into the database.
- Changes to the way BaseTen supports database relationships
- The default key names for to-many relationships have changed to the format "Set". The previous form, "", is now deprecated. Add a symbolic breakpoint to BXDeprecationWarning to find uses of these deprecated keys.
- BaseTen can now extract direction-specific relationship names from a foreign key constraints name. The combined length of these two names can be a maximum of 61 bytes of UTF-8. This facility is used by the updated BaseTen Assistant to import the direction-specific names from Xcode Data Modeler schemas.
- When creating new objects with a field values dictionary, to-one related objects (or their object IDs) can now be specified as an alternative to specifying the values of the foreign key fields. The relationship name is used as the key.
Other changes:
- All text transferred between the database and BaseTen will now be normalized to Unicode normal form D, ie. the format produced by -[NSString decomposedStringWithCanonicalMapping].
- Most locking queries sent by BaseTen can now be disabled, and documentation has been added to describe the locking functionality.
- More of BaseTens internals have now been documented in the reference manual.
- When inserting, updating or deleting rows, BaseTen now notices (and posts notifications of) changes that occur as a result of database triggers or rules firing. The only requirement is that said changes are to entities other than the one being changed by BaseTen; changes to the same entity will still be ignored.
- BXDatabaseObjectID is now documented as thread-safe since it only uses NSURL.
- BXSetProxies are now declared as deriving from NSMutableSet, as the NSCountedSets countability property isnt currently used by BaseTen.
- BaseTen will no longer try to unescape non-"bytea" columns.
- More SSL status codes are now available for determining when SSL is unavailable, automatic SSL certificate verification fails, user clicks Cancel in the certificate trust panel or some other SSL error occurs.
- Worked around potential issues with garbage collection where BaseTen used pointers to objects internal structures.
- KVO willChange notifications sent from -setPrimitiveValue:forKey: are now always called before the update. In certain cases with earlier BaseTen versions, observers might receive the notification after the change had been made.
- Some connection error messages are now more accurate.
BaseTenAppKit:
- BXSynchronizedArrayController can now remove objects even if the content set is bound to another array controller.
- BXSynchronizedArrayControllers property fetchesOnConnect is now called fetchesAutomatically. If its set, a fetch will also be performed when an already-connected database context is assigned to the array controller.
- BaseTenAppKit now embeds the Interface Builder plug-in. Interface Builder loads the plug-in if the framework has been added to a project.
- Fixed a crasher which occurred when connecting to a server with SSL capability in asynchronous mode.
- Fixed awkward user interaction when clicking Cancel in the certificate trust panel.
- Fixed a bug which caused object creation to fail if BXSynchronizedArrayController was instantiated in a nib and hadnt performed a fetch.
BaseTen Assistant:
- BaseTen Assistant can now name both sides of one-to-many and one-to-one relationships with the names entered in the Xcode Data Modeler.
- Optional relationships are now be created as optional and required relationships as required.
- Columns will no longer be created for transient attributes in data models.
- Relationships are now listed in the Inspector and info windows.
- A graphical representation of the database schema can now be created for use with Graphviz or OmniGraffle.
- Temporary information can now be deleted from BaseTen schema.
- Help is now more comprehensive.

SlipBox 0.9.1

SlipBox 0.9.1

A loose collection of slips stuffed into a box. more>> A loose collection of slips stuffed into a box.

A slipbox is really just this: a loose collection of slips stuffed into a box. Each time you have an idea that seems worth remembering you scribble down a note on an (electronic) slip and put it into the box. Then you forget about it.
When the time comes that you need the ideas stores in SlipBox, the functionality of the application helps you to quickly find relevant slips and, what is more, relations and links between different slips.
SlipBox is a small but powerful program that helps you in this task and offers the obvious advantages of an electronic solution over a paper-and-pencil one: easier and faster access, easy searchability and reusability of the stored knowledge. In particular, the associative searches allow unexpected reuse of the available information.
Sure, there are bigger programs that let you do cool stuff for collecting knowledge, but they have a serious conceptual flaw: they require that you categorise your ideas and store them in a rigid format.
However, at the time when you set out to work on a problem (perhaps even over a period of years or decades) you do not know which categories will be adequate for your knowledge base at the time when you will use the knowledge.
Slip-boxes take the opposite approach. Take a frequent case: you have to write a term paper and dont know yet what you will write about. You read a lot of literature and talk to people.
You dont want to forget all those great ideas you have in this process, especially as you are not yet able to tell the good ideas from the bad ones (or the relevant from the merely interesting ones).
Your slip-box accompanies and supports this process after all, the concept was developed with such applications in mind.
It differs from other tools in that it not only does not require a hierarchical categorisation of the knowledge but also in that it is not centred around the idea of literature excerpts which is usually done in programs similar to SlipBox.
Instead, its core idea are the connections between the thoughts you find interesting and would like to remember. (SlipBox does not manage literature; you will need another program for that, but it can interact with such programs.)
So, the concept underlying a slip-box is extremely simple. Scribble a note and some keywords describing the content on an (electronic) piece of paper a slip. You put it in a box and forget it.
This is a process that extends over some time: weeks, months, years, decades. When you work on something (like writing this term paper) the SlipBox program does two things for you.
Associative searches: By browsing through the box in an associative search it helps you find new connections between the ideas you collected. The keywords you specified will help you make these connections, and the program makes it easy to go from one idea to the next.
Raw searches: When you need to retrieve some specific piece of information contained in the box, the keywords as well as the programs other search mechanisms make the search easy.
Associative searches are a bit like following hyperlinks on the web except that these links are not created manually. The connections between the slips and between the keywords are called scents, corresponding to the idea of information scents.
The slip-box has no hierarchical structure; it is self-organising. The keywords structure the box. So, to make the best use of your slip-box (and the SlipBox program) dont try to categorise your keywords, just write down, what seems important when you create a slip. You can always change the keywords later on.
