The target of the project is to extend the original port with features that are necessary or useful for me personally and to all those interested in my work. It is worth noting that all changes introduced in no way break PrBoom's compatibility with the original Doom/Doom2 engines.

- Support for Snow Leopard.
- Full support for wide resolutions. Status Bar and Menu Appearance: Not Adjusted / Doom Format / Fit to Width.
- Fixed flats drawing on a PPC Mac. Bugs were fixed.

There already exist a lot of programs like that. I built this new one to fulfill the following objectives:
- Resource efficiency in terms of CPU usage and memory so that it could be run on low-end computers
- Build "title list", in order to ease group content analysis
- Robustness to news server connection loss
At this point in time, newslite only supports yEnc and UU encoded binaries, the most widely used format for binary posting. Any attempt to download any other kind of encoded files will fail.
