NetNewsWire 3.1.7b7 beta is a powerful utility which can fetch and display news from thousands of different Web sites and Web logs.

NetNewsWire includes a Weblog editor that allows you to post to blogging sites such as Movable Type, Radio UserLand, and Blogger, and a scrapbook that stores news headlines, URLs, subscriptions, and draft text. The find command allows you to search through current news.

NetNewsWire is scriptable via AppleScript and other OSA languages and includes a scripts menu where you can add your own scripts.

anentry is a simple AppleScript to send an email via Mail based on the currently selected headline in NetNewsWire.
Download and unzip the file. Put anentry.scpt in your ~/Library/Application Support/NetNewsWire/Scripts directory. Or go to the scripts menu inside NetNewsWire and select "Open Scripts Folder".
If you get an error message saying "ourheadline" is not defined, make sure you have a headline selected, not a subscription.

Apple did a superb job with its new Fast User Switching feature in Panther (Mac OS X 10.3), but for users with long names, the associated menu item is a terrible waste of precious Menu Bar real estate.
Wouldnt it be nice if you could access the feature through a compact, icon-sized Menu Bar icon? WinSwitch does exactly that, closely matching the performance and style of the Apple-provided menu, but without all the bulk.
In fact, it even corrects some problems with Apples menu by eliminating certain "daemon" users which shouldnt show up in the list, and by improving the alignment of user icons in the menu.
WinSwitch gives you rapid access to the Accounts preference pane, and is completely customizable, allowing you to choose from four different menu bar styles: Standard icon, User picture, Full username and Short username.

- Ive just put a new build of WinSwitch (version 3.2.1) on the server to correct a spurious crash warning that may appear on first launch.
- If youve already installed 3.2 then there is no need to upgrade unless you continue to see the warning; the spurious warning should appear only once.
