Open Photos is a useful script application showing how to use an idle handler to emulate a repeat loop. It opens multiple JPEG photos dropped on it, but it waits for each photo to open before opening the next.

Earth Shots widget is a very nice and lightweight widget that displays a thumbnail of the current photo of the day on your dashboard.

Click on the thumbnail and you are taken to a page with the caption and a larger view of the image.

The iPod can store full resolution photos for transferring between computers, but it uses a separate library of .ithmb files to store photos tha are displayed directly on the iPod or on a video device that is attached to the iPod.
Keiths iPod Photo Reader can read files in the .ithmb format. It presents a browsable library of thumbnails that can be individually expanded to full size and saved to PICT files.
