FontCommenter v.2 is well-known as a fast and powerful utility that is designed to enable you to batch-add information to their fonts that makes them searchable through Spotlight, OS 10.4's amazing file searching feature.
Adding spotlight comments is an excellent way to begin the organization of your files. Double click on the FontCommenter Icon to set up or edit a Spotlight Comment template, then drag your files you want to add comments onto the icon to add the comments to your files.
Major Features:
- When FontCommenter gives you the chance to add comments, just click the Append Comments button and your comments are added to the end of the Spotlight Comments field along with date and time when you added the comment.
- FontCommenter allows you to create custom Spotlight Comment templates by double clicking on the FontCommenter icon. You will then get a chance to edit the Spotlight Comment template or create a new one of your own.
- FontCommenter assumes these fonts are locked for a reason. If you want to add comments to the font you must first unlock the font using the get info command and unchecking the locked box or using another utility such as OKFont. Also locked comments can can cause problems in some work flows. By alerting you to a file's locked status, FontCommenter can help you troubleshoot any problems relating to that issue.
- Custom versions of FontCommenter can be written for individual clients for a fee. (This feature is available on all SuperCustomized products.) Contact SuperCustomized for more details. Also, you can wait for future releases of FontCommenter which will add more features.
- Font comments are not stored as part of the actual file, they are kept by the OS filing system. The comments you add with FontCommenter are only available on your Mac, they cannot be emailed or copied over with the file to another computer.
Enhancements: Added ability to append Spotlight Comments.
Requirements: Any Macintosh with System Version 10.4 or higher with Applescript.
Save Web Note 2.0
Copies the selected text in the current web page and appends it to a daily text file more>> Copies the selected text in the current web page and appends it to a daily text file
The Save Web Note Camino script will get the selected text from Caminos current tab and automatically append it to a daily file.
The first time you run the script on a given day, a new dated file is created in a Web Notes folder, which the script also creates as needed in your Documents folder. For instance, each time you run the script on June 24, 2009, the selected text will be saved to the file ~/Documents/Web Notes/webnotes-062409.txt.
The script does not open the file, allowing you to surf-and-save until you decide its time to review your notes. You should avoid, however, running the script while the file is open in another application, or unexpected results might occur. A custom toolbar icon is included with the file.
Installation: Unzip and move script to the path ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Camino/ where the tilde (~) represents your home folder, creating any subfolders that dont already exist. The Save Web Note script will appear under a "Camino Scripts" heading in your system-wide Script menu when Camino is the frontmost application. Place the Save Web Note script on the Camino toolbar by dragging them from the "Customize Toolbar" drop-down sheet.
System requirements:
- Camino 2.0 Beta 3 or later
