Señor Staff is an open-source music composition application for Mac OS X. It features a staff-based interface (rather than a tracker interface) for natural entry and readability, and supports playback to any MIDI device. Many of the features planned for Version 1.0 are not present in this release, and there is no guarantee that files saved in versions prior to 1.0 will be compatible with version 1.0.

Dash Monitors is a utility that brings system monitoring to your Tiger Dashboard with monitors for CPU, Memory, Network, and Disk I/O.

Users can choose between three different ways to view the information. The text view shows a basic listing of the statistics. A simple view shows bar charts representing the system resource load. Finally, a graphical view will display a fully imaged graphical interface of what is happening on the system.

Dash Monitors is great for users who would like to run a system monitor but do not want to sacrifice any screen real-estate while working.

Monitor Modes
There are 3 modes for each of the monitors: text, simple, and graphical. The text view mode shows a very simple text view of the resources being used and is beneficial because it takes very few system resources to generate the statistics.

The simple view mode is the original view from Dash Monitors 1.0, and includes simple bar charts to show statistics in a graphical way without th eye candy.

The graphical view mode, while taking more CPU resources to draw all the monitors, displays a fully imaged graphical interface to what is happening on the system. The program Hardware Monitor Remote is an add-on to the program Hardware Monitor for the Mac OS X operating system.

Hardware Monitor Remote allows you to use a hardware monitoring service on a remote Macintosh system. Other computers can contact this system via network (local area network, wireless network or the Internet) to receive readings from all available hardware sensors.

Hardware Monitor allows you to monitor the computer it is running on in the standard configuration. Hardware Monitor Remote extends its capabilities to monitor additional computers in the network as well. You can connect to an unlimited number of computer simultaneously and monitor them all from a single workstation. (In practice, the actual number may be limited by the speed of your network.) Of course you can also use several monitoring stations to receive data from an arbitrary number of other computers.

Tomcat Monitor is a simple GUI server monitoring tool for Jakarta Tomcat by Apache. It shows the current server state (running or not) both graphically and textually, both in a window, and in the dock icon.

It also has start, stop, and reset buttons (and dock menu items) for the server - these just execute the startup.sh and shutdown.sh scripts in the bin directory of the Tomcat installation.

If Tomcat is running, the cat icon will be right side up. If its not running, it will be upside down.

This program may be handy to people who are learning how to use Tomcat for Java Servelets or JSP. Sometimes its easier to start/stop the server from the dock menu than from a terminal window.

iTunes 4 introduced the ability to share music between computers. However, as of version 4.1, iTunes doesnt provide much information about who is connected or what is being shared. This utility monitors iTunes to provide a solution.

The iTunes application must be named "iTunes." In order to be recognized as music files, file names must have one of the following extensions: .wav, .wma, .sn2, .mov, .moov, .mp3, .aiff, .m4a, or .m4p. The iTunes Monitor cant associate a shared music file with a given remote user and files being accessed locally arent distinguished from those being shared. iTunes monitor cant display the name of a file which is being received. iTunes Monitor may not work properly if another application is being used to proxy music streams over the Internet (iTunes 4.0.1 only.)

Since lsof (the UNIX tool at the core of this application) doesnt reliably return complete path names, iTunes Monitor must scan your Music folder when a new file is encountered. It may take a few seconds after launching before it completes its analysis of the files and sockets iTunes is using and initially displays the information.

Berkeley Packet Monitor is a Mac OS X network traffic monitoring and diagnostic utility.

Berkeley Packet Monitor uses the Berkeley Packet Filter devices built into the Mac OS X operating system to log and re-assemble all packets entering and exiting from a specific network interface.

AE Monitor allows Mac OS X developers to capture, analyze, and recreate Apple Events.
Users can examine the internal workings of each event and create source code to replicate the event from their applications.

Many development environments are supported, including REALbasic, Perl, Tcl, and any environment that can use the AEBuild() command with an AEGizmo string. Additionally, AE Monitor can create native REALbasic code to send Apple Events.

Here are some key features of "AE Monitor":
