Midnight 1.1 is a professional and smart tool which will satisfy you immediately.
When its time to leave your Mac for a while, you want a nice quick way of putting it to sleep and a little bit of flexibility in how you do it.
Midnight can either put your Mac into its standard sleep mode or into hibernation mode (also referred to as safe sleep or deep sleep).
In addition to choosing a particular sleep mode you can choose whether your Mac should switch to the log-in screen before going to sleep.
If your Mac doesnt support safe sleep you can still use Midnight but the hibernation option will be disabled.
Midnight is a clever little fella and can handle all this for you without ever needing to know your administrators password.
Apple only officially supports safe sleep on the PowerBook G4 (Double-Layer SD) together with all of the new Intel books and desktops, so Midnight does just the same.
- This version of Midnight has been completely rewritten, from the ground up, to support Mac OS X Leopard (10.5).
- You can name individual instances of Midnight.
- The addition of an option to turn airport off before sleeping (it is turned back on a little while after waking).

In this archive you will find Midnight Commander deb package with support for both console and GUI mode for MacOS X 10.1 which (unlike a lot of other UNIX inherited software):
- Do not install anything into MacOS X system directories
- Do not alter any system file(s)
- Is very easy to remove
Everything will be installed into "/sw" directory on the root level of your startup volume. However, installing Midnight Commander will invoke automatic installation of XFree86 base package, which is placed inside hidden MacOS X system directory "/usr/X11R6"
