like to keep my mails inbox well organized: filing and flagging messages in different ways when they come in. However, quickly filing messages in my inbox in a variety of folders can be a drag and drop process or a using a menu that often involves submenus. Setting colors of messages involves bring up the color palette and manually selecting a color.
Mail lacks a simple method of organizing messages based on user-defined keystrokes. As it stands, the only way of doing this is to write a series of AppleScripts that does each task, saving them to Mails applescript folder and naming them so that a control key combination can be used. This is very cumbersome as it takes a knowledge of AppleScript to devise the actions and adding new rules is not a simple process. To fulfill my personal need, I dived into the world of mail plug ins and wrote Mail Act-On to solve all my lifes (er -- email) problems.
Mail Act-On is a plugin Apples Mail (Panther) in that allows you to map specific mail rules or actions to "Act-On" keys. When viewing mail you can apply the "Act-On" action for a message by making simple keystrokes.
Mail Act-On makes use of Mails existing rule engine, so if you have ever created a rules, you already know 99% of what you need to know to build an Act-On action. Imagine, no AppleScripts or other macros. (Even if you havent ever created a mail rule, there is very little learn!)
Enhancements:
- Mail Act-On is now a Universal Plug-in, providing Act-On goodness for Intel based Macs
- Rules that are disabled in Preferences will no longer show in the Act-On Menu.

Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Mail Fix 1.0 is created as an advanced and sophisticated network tool. NOT REQUIRED for Mac OS X 10.0.2 or higher. Mail.app has a bug that causes sending mail using certain SMTP servers to fail. Mail Fix provides a workaround for this. Known servers that this can help with:

• Telstra Bigpond Servers (Australia)
• Novell 5.1 Servers
• Probably many others, please let me know of any I've missed

iPod Mail allows you to email the mp3 file and/or information about the selected or current playing song on your iPod via iTunes 3.

It allows users to mail only information about the song or mail information and attach the mp3.

Mail to ToDo X is an AppleScript to connect Apples Mail with the shareware to-do list application ToDo X. It provides a convenient way to create to-do items from selected email messages.

The to-do items name will be the message subject, and the notes will contain either an excerpt of the message or (if you prefer) its full text. At the end of the notes youll find a clickable link that will open the message in Mail.

Bulk Mail Script Set is a set of three scripts that can be useful to export an address list for use with my Bulk Mail MSE. The scripts are also useful by themselves.

The pair of scripts to export and import groups from the Address Book can be used to save a record of groups before doing a complex rebuild of the database, and then to restore the groups after the rebuild.
