MacBinHex is a small scripting addition which enables you to automate the encoding and decoding of of Macintosh files, into MacBinaryIII files.

The OSAX is a simple interface which enables the code to be used via Applescript. I use it so that I wont have to install Stuffit from Alladin on each of my work machines. This also makes scripts easier to write, as there arent ever any problems locating StuffIt.

MacXBinary is a tool to expand MacBinary files on Mac OS X

Of course you can still use MacBinary III, Stuff-it Expander and so on... But what is the faster and lighter ? Drag And Drop a .bin files on MacXBinary or launch the Classic Environment, and then Drag And Drop the file on MacBinary III ?

MacFormatCodec is a RealBasic 2.0 and greater plugin, based on my MacBinHex and MacBinaryIII source code.
It supports decoding and encoding of MacBinaryIII files, and MacBinHex 4.0 files.

Completly freeware. Source code included in package.

Enhancements:
This update corrects two small but significant problems pointed out by by users.
- The filetype autotyper was changed to provide support for properly typing Stuffit file segments rather than typing them as Stuffit archives as was previously happening.
- A second UU decoder was also added (user selectable) to allow proper decoding of multipart encodings in which the last line of uu data in one segment is not separated from the header data of the next article. A blank line may be required there under message handling RFCs (I have not yet checked) and in any case is customary. The new decoder works even without that blank line present, but loses the ability to detect bad uu character data as a result (which the old decoder does well). Other popular decoders use the second method only while ignoring errors as can be seen by CRC checks of the resultant data. MNT now allows you to have a choice between the two methods.
- Error reporting options for Par file handling were also expanded on a test basis (see comments in documentation).

• • Setting the text size for disk image icons (see the Disk Image Properties, General tab)
  • Hiding files and folders on disk images (see the item's properties)
• FileStorm Preferences now allow setting defaults for image file path, icon path and background image path, so you re-use these settings without having to edit them for each new project.
• The minimum OS check for FileStorm installers now extends through Mac OS X v10.5.
• FileStorm now requires Mac OS X v10.4.3 or greater for encrypting a disk image (with AES-128 encryption) so that it requires a password to mount.
• For compatibility reasons, the MacBinary and BinHex encoding options are disabled when running FileStorm on Intel machines. If you use an Intel machine to open a project that uses these encoding options, FileStorm will set the encoding back to None, and display a message that advises running FileStorm under Rosetta if you need to continue encoding as MacBinary and/or BinHex. (The Encode Format setting is available in the Disk Image Properties, Format tab.)
• Changes were made to address the following issues:
• • Non-admin users were unable to launch FileStorm.
  • GZip formatted disk images were not decompressing as expected on Mac OS X v10.4.
  • Adding a license agreement file to the disk image via AppleScript was failing.
  • Registered versions of FileStorm produced an error when the user tried to manually check for software updates (using "Check Now").
  • When installers included multiple install items, FileStorm failed to retain the Install To paths for all the items.
  • Uninstallers were unable to remove files that were installed after their parent folders.
  • Localizing certain strings would break the functionality of FileStorm installers. Because these problem strings are not needed for localization, they are no longer included in the Localizable.strings file.

Requirements: Mac OS X v10.4 or greater

TarPit creates tar archives by drag-n-drop. Also has compression options using GZip, BZip2, Compress (or none) with adjustable compression level.
TarPit also features a customizable omission list for easily excluding files from archives.
