JPDM Decoder 2.2.0 is regarded an easy-to-use and handy software which permits you to visualize through Quick Time videos created with KandaluLite software.

This is a simple AppleScript droplet which includes a binary of the TiVoDecode program. Just drag and drop your .tivo files on it and get an MPEG-2 video out. You can then use other tools to convert that MPEG-2 into something else.

Documentation is included. If you need help getting your .tivo files onto your Mac or converting MPEG-2 files into something more useful, try Google.

Problems with the decoding (such as missing audio and other weirdness) are best addressed on the tivodecode sourceforge page. I will not be supporting this program beyond the functionality of the basic AppleScript wrapper.

To get your TiVo files onto your Mac, you have two options: First, try Galleon, with or without the launcher bundle for OS X. Or, if you prefer, you can download straight from your browser by typing in your TiVo’s IP address prefixed by https:// (rather than http://). Your login is “tivo” and your password is your Media Access Key..

If you’re using Safari and have Bonjour bookmarks enabled, your TiVo should just publish itself to your bookmarks, so you can select that link (probably called something like “dvr-123.local.”) and then just add the https:// in front of it to get to the video listing.

These videos wont play terribly well in Quicktime. You’re better off using VLC or something else for video playback.

iPhone Backup Decoder script will extract the iPhone files backed up by iTunes on your Mac so that you can view and edit them.
iPhone Backup Decoder does not currently support re-encoding, but it will be added soon.
Make a copy of your /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and run the script against the *.mdbackup files. The script will create a MobileSyncExport folder which will contain the extracted files.

X Lossless Decoder 20090924 (XLD) is a comprehensive and easy-to-use tool for Mac OS X that is able to decode/convert/play various 'lossless' audio files. The supported audio files can be split into some tracks with cue sheet when decoding. It works on Mac OS X 10.3 and later.

Major Features:

   • Other formats supported by Libsndfile are also decodable. XLD uses not decoder frontend but library to decode, so no intermediate files are generated. All of the supported formats can be directly split with the cue sheet. XLD also supports so-called 'embedded' or 'internal' cue sheet.
   • Currently you can choose output format from WAVE,AIFF and Raw PCM. In addition, you can choose Ogg Vorbis (aoTuV), MPEG-4 AAC (QuickTime/CoreAudio), MP3 (LAME), Apple Lossless, FLAC, HE-AAC (aacPlus v1/v2), Wave64 and WavPack in the GUI version.
   • XLD version 20080812 and later can be used as a CD ripper. You can convert each track in your audio CD into the desired format. Also XLD supports output a CD image with cue sheet (wav+cue, flac+cue, etc).
2. Plug-in oriented design: Frontend and backend of XLD are prefectry separated, so the frontend is able to access the various decoder with the same interface.
