When you input telephone numbers into a contact record, Microsoft Entourage will not automatically format the number even though you have selected that option in Preferences, unless you enter exactly seven or ten digits with no other characters.

This is deliberate, to allow the entry of numbers in formats other than your default format, such as numbers for other countries. It is annoying, however, because telephone numbers that are copied from mail messages or even simply mistyped the first time they are entered cannot be reformatted, except manually. This script meets the need for automated reformatting on demand.

The Format Address Book Phone Numbers AppleScript will attempt to apply a format to every phone number of every person in your OS X Address Book, and generate a report which is displayed in the TextEdit application when the script finishes.

The script currently assumes US style ten digit numbers.

As you all may know, the telephone numbers for cellular phones in Israel have been changed in 2004. This leaves Address Book users a great deal of manual editing to do. And I wasn’t planning on doing it!

Israel Cellphones Update will convert the Israeli cellular phone numbers in your Apple Address Book to the new format of 2004.

The script goes through all your contacts information and looks for phone numbers. When it finds one which is a cellular phone (it checks by format, not by label. So even if a number is not labelled as “mobile”, it will be converted), it changes it prefix to the new standard.

Dial Number 2.0 is known as a tool applying your Macs built-in speakers for dialing a phone number. You can enter a phone number manually or you can search the Address Book.app or Microsoft Entourage contacts by name for phone numbers. You can even search Google.com.

Find Contact by Phone (Entourage) finds a contact from his or her phone number, or checks a number from a Caller ID display without a name to see if you know the caller (if its in your Address Book).

If the number is not in your Address Book, you will be so alerted. If it is there, you will be told the contacts name and which of his or her phone numbers (Home. Work, etc.) it is.

SyncPhone-PlugIn 0.7b is such an easy-to-use and handy software which lets you dial any selected phone number with your USB connected Siemens Gigaset SX 353 phone.

The SyncPhone-PlugIn is still under development and has not been tested with different configurations. You use this software on your own risk!

CallVantage Dialer is a small tool that can be used as an Address Book Plug-In, directly from the Script Menu, and via Quicksilver, LaunchBar, or pretty much however you want.
In Address Book, simply click the label next to the number and choose Dial with CallVantage.
When run as a script, if there is a phone number on the clipboard, it will be dialed. Otherwise, you will be prompted for the phone number to dial.
To dial a number from Quicksilver:
1. Activate Quicksilver.
2. Start typing the name of the person you want to call.
3. Once they show up, press either / or ?.
4. Type hp for home phone, mp for mobile phone, etc.
5. Press tab and type cv to select CallVantage Dialer
6. Press enter.
Enhancements:

- Username and password are now stored in the keychain.
- Improved compatibility if Quicksilver and/or Growl are not installed.
