Free logging software for mac

The java.util.logging API offers many usefull functionality for logging and debugging. But the configuration with the property config file is inconvenient. And for debugging purpose, it is needed, that loggers can be turned on and off on the fly, as well as beeing configured ad lib. All this is possible with the InforMatrix LogGui, a graphical user interface for the java.util.logging package implemented in Swing.

With the help of LogGui you can configure loggers, handlers, formatters and filters in a running Programm. It also adds handlers, formatters and filters of its own. It allows to add and delete handlers, formatters and filters on the fly. Your configurations can be stored and loaded in files.

Log Visuals is a web server log file extraction and mapping program.
With a few easy steps you can have an interactive map available to you to display your log files.
All you need is a web server with log files in the standard extended format.
Log Visuals is currently is currently being beta tested. Metadata-based Logger is an AOP Framework that uses Metadata for logging method calls.
The main idea of MetadataLogger is to log different pieces of a method call in different locations through the use of metadata.

Boot Log 1.1 is a distinguished and easy to use program that runs on OS-X to grab the user name you booted up as and saves a log in the user's prefs folder called 'boot log'.

This log is added to every time the program is executed so it is suggested to make the program part of the startup items in a user's system preferences. The only known issue is that it currently does not save the file in a common place for global accesses across different users. It is suggested that you use 10.1 or later version of OS-X as the user name lookup routine doesn't work well with the earlier versions of OS-X. The source code is included.

Kiwi Log Viewer 2.0 offers a highly flexible, feature-rich freeware application that displays text based log files in a tabular format. Only a small section of the file is read from disk at a time which saves memory and allows you to view a file that would be too big to fit in memory. The tail option monitors the specified log file for changes and displays any new data that is added in real time. Text string matching allows important text to be highlighted by using colors, bold, or italic font emphasis. Text matching options include simple sub-string matching or more powerful PERL style Regular Expression matching. Also available for Windows and Linux.

Log Reader is a tool that creates statistics for two different logs.
