iPhoneLikeIndicator 1.0 is a very wonderful network indicator for OS X. It is a fun project. The publisher always liked the iPhone's network indicator and wanted something similar for OSX. Born was iPhoneLikeIndicator. It is a little convenient entry for your menubar which shows any network activity. Just like the network indicator on the iphone (that's where the name is from *doh*.
How does it work?
The graphical application uses the command line application netcat. It executes /usr/sbin/netcat -u -i -w 1 and parses the results to get the incoming and outgoing bytes. If there is any Activity, the indicator spins. (again, just like on the iPhone *smile*)
Tip: Add it to your login items to have it start automatically. It has a context menu with a quit option

Broken Display 1.1 brings you an interesting screensaver which looks like somebody smashed your display. Someone you never liked has got a 30" Display? Or even a 17" MacBook Pro? Show him the fear with this Screen Saver. It looks like the Display is broken. And its animated - not just a static Image! Great fun to watch IT Guys running for help ;) (Unplugging the Keyboard while the Saver is running is hillarious!) This Screensaver is made with Quartz Composer.
At Intel Notebooks you will notice the Fans spinning more often, when the Screen Saver is running. This is the case with almost all bigger Quartz Composer Applications and is a normal behaviour. Besides that Broken Display Screen Saver is mostly harmless.

BitlBee - IRC gateway more>>
We are both console lovers. But it is annoying to have a few ttys open with chat things in them. IRC, ICQ, MSN, Jabber... For X there is Gaim, which supports many chatprotocols. Why wasnt there such a thing for the console?
The idea to port Gaim was easily thought of, of course. But we liked our IRC clients. And we used it the most, so we used it best. Importing it into the IRC client was a nice idea. But what if someone liked a different client. Then (s)he had to duplicate our work.
Thats a shame, we thought. Doing work twice is pointless. So when Wilmer got the ingenious thought in his mind while farming, to create an IRC to other chatnetworks gateway, we were both so excited, that we started working on it almost immediately. And the result is BitlBee.
BitlBee is a multi-protocol IRC gateway.
Just install the program and connect to the BitlBee server with your favourite IRC-client. You will be force-joined into the control channel where root (the bot, your assistant, the bee) will try to help you to get the program working.
Enhancements:
- Another release with a speech!
- After more than three years, finally version 1.0 with, besides a couple of minor enhancements and bug fixes:
- Renamed the control channel to &bitlbee, mainly to avoid confusion with #bitlbee on OFTC.
- Jabber cleanup, plus handling for packets from RSS-to-Jabber feeds.
- Support for AIM typing notifications.
- Typing notifications now come in as a CTCP too. Dont forget to update your scripts!
- Fixes a possisble DoS bug.

JTimer - Simple (yet stylish) little timer app that sits in your dock more>>
I really really liked Konfabulator a few months ago. I even wrote a widget for it. But now, having expanded my repertoire to include cocoa, Ive gotten a bit bored with it. First of all, Konfabulator is rather limited in what it can do. Secondly, its slow. And third (and most important) it gobbles up RAM. My poor powerbook only has 384 megs, and 10.2 is a hog, so I really need to upgrade to more. But, since I havent yet, Ive been trying to limit my resource consumption (especially since I have project builder running almost all the time as of late) and Konfabulator is one of the things Ive decided to live without.
Ill probably turn it back on once Ive got more RAM. And it is still a neat little program, just not where my interests lie at the moment.
Nonetheless, it is useful. While Amazeing may be a silly widget, the ones that I normally have running are not. One of them is a little timer widget that would sit in the corner and I could turn on when I needed to time something. That has been no fun to be without, and I dont really like starting up konfabulator just for the timer widget.
Solution? I wrote my own. Enter JTimer.
Theres really not too much to it. Start it up, punch in your time, and shut the window (if youd like). It counts down in the dock til its done, giving you warnings and changing color as appropriate as it gets close. This aint rocket science here, people.

After visiting NASAs Jet Propulsion Laboratories websites for the Mars Rover with my daughter, I got interested in the process of creating red/blue 3D images. After doing some research on these 3D images called "anaglyph images," and not finding any Mac programs for generating them that I liked, I decided to write a program to create them.
Anaglyph Maker is the result; it is a simple application for combining "stereo pair" images (images taken of the same subject from two positions a few inches apart on the same horizontal plane) into a single anaglyphic image.
There are options in the program for generating both grayscale and color anaglyphs, but to generate a color anaglyph, your source images must be color.
You can also save the raw stereo pairs into an Anaglyph Maker document so that you can load it later.There is some online help available that will help you learn to take "stereo pair" images, and will also take you on a short tour of using Anaglyph Maker.
