Wimp is a very simple program which helps you keep tabs on your computers ip address. Wimp runs a small program in the background which sends an e-mail to the address of your choice whenever the ip address changes.
Though not the original intention, Wimp can also act as a very crude theft recovery mechanism. If installed on a computer that is stolen, Wimp will continue to e-mail you with an ip address whenever the thief connects your computer to the internet. Presumably, law enforcement agencies can then use this information to get the precise location of your computer.
