KDE Launcher is an AppleScript Studio application that starts a Fink install of KDE with functional settings that actually work for OS X without changing all X11’s configurations so it works poorly for everything else.

KDE Launcher is a software that runs KDE in a separate and distinct instance of X11 allowing the user to run KDE in an optimized environment using its window manager and with its own Dock icon, while simultaneously running other X11 applications in their regular Apple X11 using Apple’s quartz-wm for its Aqua look and feel and better speed.

KDE Launcher is not KDE or X11. It is only a configuration and startup utility for them so in order to run it needs to have those already installed. I use Apple’s X11 and Fink so that is what I created this to work with.

Micalins Launcher is a collection of folder actions and an AppleScript Studio based management utility for creating and maintaining a Dock folder with aliases to your applications with automatic adding of new applications. The folder actions can be used to created a custom Launcher folder structure linked to any number of drive folders.

X-Launch 2.1.1 is a very flexible and effective tool which is designed as a replacement for Apple's Launcher. It is designed to work in much the same way as Launcher and offers similar functionality, while at the same time occupying a smaller footprint and offering some customization features that hopefully make it more aesthetically pleasing. In addition, it features extra conveniences such as allowing the user to reorder buttons and category icons, to navigate folder contents via contextual menu, and to bring the launch window to the front via a hot corner.

X11 Launcher 1.0 is a very serviceable tool which allows selecting the desired keyboard layout for X11, as well as giving some extra command line parameters.

X11 Launcher may be of some use to people with a non-US keyboard who want to use the just released (as of 01/10/2003) Apple X11 beta. This app should become obsolete quickly, as Apple improve its application. The source code is available.

The widget can also be used to search for applications and several skins are included.
