LargeType is a service that displays any selected text in large type similar to the large type option in Address Book.

Installation Note: Drag LargeType to the Applications folder, then log out and back in again.

Compare Files is a tool for comparing the lines in two text files. You may use it, for example, to compare two different versions of a HTML file. Or you might want to compare your iTunes library to a database of your audio CDs.

Whatever you want to compare, just get it into two text files (i.e. files in SimpleText format) and drag them to the Compare Files window. Compare Files will look through both files and display their contents next to each other, with any new, modified, or deleted lines appearing highlighted. See this screenshot for an example. It’s also possible to apply single blocks of non-matching lines from one file to the other.

Compare Files provides a number of options controlling its comparing behavior. For example, it can ignore slight differences such as additional spaces or blank lines, or it can skip comments in source code.

iTunes playlist to text file is a simple AppleScript which makes a text file of the track names of an iTunes playlist.
Handy if youre making a CD cover for a playlist you burn to CD from iTunes.

fileNames to text file on desktop is an AppleScript that will make a list of any files or files and folders in any folder that you choose and puts it in a text file on your desktop.

I find this handy if I want to burn an audio CD and I want a list of the songs to go on the cover. I dont have to type them out in my layout program, just import them or copy/paste them in.

Completly freeware.

If you have a massive amount of ID3 tags to update in a playlist, and have the tags in a text file, create a tab delimited text file with the tracks ID3 tags and use this script to place the tags into the frontmost playlist in SoundJam MP (you can modify the script to work with iTunes).
Text File to SJ ID3tags is a small AppleScript that will update ID3 tags from an external text file using soundJam.
Enhancements:
- Allows you to choose the tags arrangement (and which tags to be used).

Stalker CommuniGate File 1.4 is a powerful program that makes it quick and easy to send messages: if an application composes a message as a plain text file and places that file in the CommuniGate File OutBox folder.

The CommuniGate File module reads it and submits the message to the system in the same way as if that messages was read from the Internet. Applications can use the CommuniGate File module to receive messages: if a message is addressed/routed to File module, the user_name part of the address is used as a name of a folder or a text file inside the CommuniGate File InBoxes folder.

If a folder is found, the CommuniGate File module stores the message in that folder as a plain text file. If a text file is found, the CommuniGate File module appends the message (converted to the plain text format) to the file. So, each application can have its own InBox and it can receive messages either by scanning the folder and reading the text files found, or by reading the mailbox text file. The CommuniGate File module allows you to use the CommuniGate Server with some mailers that can exchange messages via the file system.

For example, you can use Eudora in its "UUCP" mode on machines connected to the File Server that also runs the CommuniGate Server. It is especially useful if you use PPP on the CommuniGate Server: since the current version of MacOS does not allow to use TCP/IP via Ethernet if you use PPP, unless you have a router, computers on your Ethernet network cannot access the Server via the regular SMTP and POP protocols.

The preview_file script just shows the first 255 characters of a text file (or the whole file if its less than 255 chars long) in a dialog window without the need to open it using any application.

This is handy if youve forgotten what a file contains and you just want to know if its the one youre looking for.
