LanOSD 1.0b4
Network on screen display. more>>
Its a way if displaying "passive" information that doesnt necessarily require all of your attention, doesnt need a specific log, but which is nice to know anyway if you happen to look in that direction.
LanOSD can also forms a network with its other LanOSD friends running in other machines close by, and decide which one(s) are supposed to display messages. Each machine has a priority, and the machines that have the highest priority at any given time displays the messages.
LanOSD is Scriptable, so you can integrate easily in all your scripts and procedures. Also provided is a command line tool that will work even if your procedure is in a cron job, for example.
Now, the "LAN" bit of the name is where it gets interesting. "LAN" is for "Local Area Network"; that is, your bedroom, office, floor, or Massively Carpeted Silicon Valley Headquarters.
LanOSD forms a little network with its other LanOSD friends running in other machines close by, and decide which one(s) are supposed to display messages. Each machine is assigned a priority, and the machines that have the highest priority at any given time displays the messages.
So for example put your main workstation to sleep, and the messages will start appearing on your laptop, which had nothing to do before that. Its all automagic too - you have nothing to reconfigure or change.
As a side effect, LanOSD also watches out for machines that are crashed or go offline and displays a notification on the current active display(s).
Enhancements:
- Added the "local only" parameter to prevent notifications being sent on the LAN.
- Fixed the -L parameter problem some people were having with the command line tool.

Parsec LAN-Test 0.99 (build 0197)
Parsec LAN-Test is a program presenting you the entire new universe. more>>
Parsec LAN-Test 0.99 (build 0197) is a program presenting you the entirely new universe. The core of Parsec will be a network of gameservers each responsible for a single galaxy comprised of several solar systems. All gameservers will be registered at the central Parsec masterserver from where you can select a specific gameserver for playing.
The basic unit of game play is a single solar system but you can jump from system to system as you like. There are no game sessions that have to be started explicitly. You can seamlessly join and unjoin a gameserver at any time. But beware! While you are peacefully exploring the universe everyone else will try to shoot you down to advance their position in the roster of all-time Parsec legends. If you want to become a legend yourself, you will have to eliminate a lot of other spacecraft and still prevail to collect the honor.
Gameservers (that is, galaxies) have their own dedicated position in the Parsec universe and are connected to nearby galaxies via stargates. The server transition involved in this jump is handled transparently by the masterserver and the involved gameservers.

BwanaDik 3.0.4
BwanaDik is an IP address (WAN and LAN) menu item, witch keeps you up to date on your net connections activity more>>
Small, simple, and resides in the menu bar Monitors my network for a good connection. If the connection is lost, let me know with an alert the second it comes back online.
Quickly copy my WAN and LAN IP address to the menu bar.
The second point is the most important, which is really why I wrote this thing. See, I work at a coffee shop that has a really crappy DSL line, and an even crappier Airport Base Station.
The connection comes and goes every 5 minutes. And there is nothing more frustrating than opening up Safari and typing in a search in the google bar only to be slapped with an alert sheet saying the site cannot be found. Then I have to sit around watching my Network control panel to see when Im back online again, because a lot of times the info I need on the web is for work.
Now, with BwanaDik, I can look at the menu bar and know right away if I can access the internet or not. Even better, when my network is back online, BwanaDik lets me know right away with an alert window. So now I can keep typing code and when the network is ready, I can go do my searches and whatnot.
So, yes, there are a lot of IP address apps out there. Im sure they are all great. But this one does exactly what I want it to. It probably doesnt do what you want, but thats OK with me. No other features will be added to BwanaDik anyway.
Enhancements:
- Minor performance tweaks.
- Bwanadik no longer uses CPU cycles when auto-updating is off.

iHam on iRye 2.0
iHam on iRye is a set of applications designed to allow you to control iTunes 2.0.3 or higher from another computer on a WAN or LAN network more>> iHam on iRye is a set of applications designed to allow you to control iTunes 2.0.3 or higher from another computer on a WAN or LAN network. iHam on iRye lets you control just about every function iTunes provides from any other Mac OS-based computer on your network. Great at parties, use it as a remote jukebox!
- Mac OS X 10.1, Mac OS 9.x or higher required (Mac OS X 10.0.x not supported).
- iTunes 3.0 or higher.
- Mac OS 9.x servers require 10 MB of free RAM. Mac OS 9.x clients require 5 MB of free RAM.
- LAN or Broadband Internet connection highly recommended. Although iHam on iRye may function over a dial-up connection, this configuration is not supported.
Version 2.0 adds the following:
- Fixed the infamous "sendUpdatesendUpdatesendUpdate" bug!
- Possibly fixed a bug that could still cause a duplicate of a single track to appear in some playlists--this needs more testing as the bug is very difficult to reproduce.
- Added a functional "Help" menu (note that the "FAQ" item will not yet load a valid page--this will work after the final release).
- Please note that there have been no changes to the iHam on iRye iAdmin and iServer applications for this release and they still reflect the 2.0b6 version number.

Civil Netizen b8
Civil Netizen is a distinguished and tractable personal file transfer program for your digital parcels. more>>
Civil Netizen b8 is a distinguished and tractable personal file transfer program for your digital parcels.
Major Features:
- Simple drag-and-drop file sharing - Turns large files or even entire folders into a few lines of plain text that you can send via e-mail or IM.
- Comes with all the necessary tools - No more need for FTP clients, zip or sit utilities, encryption programs, and download managers.
- Keeps your files 100% private - All file transfer traffic is secured end-to-end between senders and recipients using 128-bit AES encryption.
Enhancements: It seems like some of the initial optimizations for dual-core CPUs that made available last month backfired. While it made packaging parcels and LAN transfers significantly faster, it also caused an unacceptable amount of CPU time to be consumed by the application.
wake 20050624
wake 20050624 offers users a brilliant Perl program which can send Wake-on-LAN packets to wake up remote systems more>>
wake 20050624 offers users a brilliant Perl program which can send Wake-on-LAN packets to wake up remote systems. It works on any system that has Perl installed and supports UDP; any Unix-like system and even Microsoft Windows should work
How does it work?
You call wake with the MAC address of the machine you want to wake up (e.g. wake 00:40:63:DE:56:3E). This MAC address is used to construct a special packet containing the sequence 0xffffffffffff, followed by 16 repetitions of the MAC address. The machine listens to the network, and if it detects this sequence, it is powered up. Of course, this requires that the machine supports Wake-on-LAN (usually, you also have to enable it in the BIOS).
