DAOMedge is a Data Access Object suite that includes a code generator to generate the Java Value Objects and supporting XML files.
The basic principle here is that the developer is in complete control of how and when the data is accessed.
With JDO all that is hidden and all the developer needs to do is get and set properties, this can somethimes be hazardous especially when value objects are created on the fly but dont need to, or shouldnt, be persisted. The java docs are in the javadoc directory.
DAOMedge uses JDBC to connect so requires JDBC drivers and requires some Java libraries to be installed in order to work.

EditSeq 6.0 allows you to work on nucleic acid and protein sequences of all sizes from various popular formats. You can also utilize the integrated internet interface to search NCBI's databases to locate sequences by accession number, sequence similarity via BLAST, or keyword searches via the Entrez text query.
For your convenience, EditSeq separates the sequence, comments and annotations into three editable panes. Dynamic links between the sequence and its annotations automatically update feature coordinates when you edit a sequence and provide feature inclusion when copying/pasting sequences. Available functionality also includes the ability to reverse complement, translate, back-translate sequences and identify ORFs. As with other Lasergene applications, EditSeq will handle sequences ranging in size from a couple of nucleotides to a whole bacterial genome.

You can apply new Dock Themes in many formats from several websites as long as they are provided in .zip files. Shoreline doesn't require a special format and you don't have to unzip the files before using them. There is one dock included, it's the one pictured in the screenshots below. Visit the product page for links to sites to download themes. if you want to go back to the Original Dock, you can download it from the product page as well. This app is currently in Beta status and not quite finished but it works quite well.
