Kitchen Timer is a simple alarm timer applet written in AppleScript which notifies you with a dialog and a sound when the specified number of minutes has passed.

Launch it and enter how many minutes for alarm, then press "GO" button. You can use decimal fractional value. (0.5 for 30 seconds).

gd 1.8.2 offers you a professional and highly-efficient graphics library. It allows your code to quickly draw images complete with lines, arcs, text, multiple colors, cut and paste from other images, and flood fills, and write out the result as a PNG or JPEG file. This is particularly useful in World Wide Web applications, where PNG and JPEG are two of the formats accepted for inline images by most browsers. gd is not a paint program. If you are looking for a paint program, you are looking in the wrong place. If you are not a programmer, you are looking in the wrong place. gd does not provide for every possible desirable graphics operation. It is not necessary or desirable for gd to become a kitchen-sink graphics package, but version 1.7.3 incorporates most of the commonly requested features for an 8-bit 2D package. Support for truecolor images, including truecolor JPEG and PNG, is planned for version 2.0.

With SimpleTimer you can create timers and reminders for your daily chores. The user interface allows you to quickly set up a reminder (e.g. "remember to do laundry 45 minutes from now"), but its easy to enable more advanced scheduling operations. However, SimpleTimer does not aim to replace sophisticated utilities like cron.
This software is free software under the GNU GPL. Source code is freely available as a tarball or zipfile or directly at the CVS repository.

- Low CPU usage: SimpleTimer doesnt keep your CPU busy, and has a small memory footprint.

Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing access to your entire music collection wherever you are. Use it to share your music with friends, or to listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and another in your living room.
Subsonic was created in order to handle very large music collections (many thousand albums). It uses a combination of directory structure and tag parsing to organize the music. Although optimized for MP3 streaming, it works for any audio or video format that can stream over HTTP (for instance AAC and OGG).
By using transcoder plug-ins, Subsonic supports on-the-fly conversion and streaming of virtually any audio format, including WMA, FLAC, APE, Musepack, WavPack, Shorten and OptimFROG.
If you have constrained bandwidth, you may set an upper limit for the bitrate of the music streams. Subsonic will then automatically resample the music to a suitable bitrate.
