I just wanted to know who was calling. Nothing fancy, but itd be really nice to be able to see who is on the phone without actually having to look up from what Im concentrating on right now. That was the desire that drove the creation of Silica and I figured other people might like it, too. It consumes very little in the way of system resources, and provides a heads-up display - like the OS X volume and brightness adjustment feedback - showing you the number and, if available, name on the incoming call. Silica tries to look up the phone number in the OS X address book, and will display that name and the callers picture if present.
