JukeTrax - The Jukebox Printing Press 1.0
JukeTrax - The Jukebox Printing Press offers a potential and easy to use CD tracks organizer that prints title track info over an internet connection. more>>
JukeTrax - The Jukebox Printing Press 1.0 offers a potential and easy to use CD tracks organizer that 'prints title track info' over an internet connection. This 'killer app' doubles as a CD management client that allows a subscriber to access to a database that boasts something like a million albums in various languages.
Designed for a jukebox's overwhelming need for current, accurate title track info, JukeTrax is the 'a propos' solution for a hungry audience. Having gone through rigorous testing via free beta versions over a course of 18 months, JukeTrax has enjoyed its offering of a lightening fast, exhaustive search mechanism, and an extensive fan base that continually 'beefs up' the song grid.
Functionally, JukeTrax lets you download titles and tracks from any published CD, you can either search by artist/album/song, or simply insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive and let JukeTrax do the trick. It's never been easier. Esthetically, however, JukeTrax enables you to print professional quality title cards with the click of a mouse.
Here's what An avid user of JukeTrax has noted: As fast as any secretary's typing could do in one day, JukeTrax could do in a blink of an eye. There's nothing like JukeTrax in the music industry. Competitive products have come and gone without ridding of the biggest limitation of them all - gargantuan catalog of both published and local artists. Without a doubt, JukeTrax has more titles at my disposal than anything out there.

Subsonic 3.1.beta2
Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing access to your entire music collection wherever you are more>>
Subsonic was created in order to handle very large music collections (many thousand albums). It uses a combination of directory structure and tag parsing to organize the music. Although optimized for MP3 streaming, it works for any audio or video format that can stream over HTTP (for instance AAC and OGG).
By using transcoder plug-ins, Subsonic supports on-the-fly conversion and streaming of virtually any audio format, including WMA, FLAC, APE, Musepack, WavPack, Shorten and OptimFROG.
If you have constrained bandwidth, you may set an upper limit for the bitrate of the music streams. Subsonic will then automatically resample the music to a suitable bitrate.
In addition to being a streaming media server, Subsonic works very well as a local jukebox. The intuitive web interface, as well as search and index facilities, are optimized for efficient browsing through large media libraries.
Main features:
- Supports MP3, OGG, AAC and any other audio or video format that can be streamed over HTTP.
- Transcoding engine allows for streaming of a variety of lossy and lossless formats by converting to MP3 on-the-fly.
- Works with any network-enabled media player, such as Winamp, iTunes, XMMS, MusicMatch and Windows Media Player.
- Displays cover art, dynamically scaling it to fit nicely on the screen. Supports images embedded in ID3.
- You can assign ratings and comments to albums.
- Finds cover art and album info using Amazon Web Services.
- Audioscrobbling support. Automatically register what youre playing on last.fm
- Tag editing of MP3 and OGG Vorbis files.
- On-the-fly resampling to lower bitrates using the high-quality LAME encoder.
- Common playlist features (add, remove, rearrange, repeat, shuffle, undo).
- Playlists can be saved and restored. M3U, PLS and XSPF formats are supported.
- Saved playlists are available as Podcasts.
- Support for Internet TV and radio stations.
- Configurable index.
- Google-like search functionality.
- Automatic update of search index at specified intervals.
- Supports multiple media folders (for instance one with music and another with movies.)
- Supports multiple simultaneous players. The playlist for any player can be managed from any location.
- Secure. Users must log in using a username and password. Users can be assigned different privileges. Supports HTTPS/SSL encryption.
- Lean web interface optimized for constrained bandwidth environments and efficient browsing through large music collections.
- WAP interface allows you to control Subsonic from any mobile phone or PDA.
- In addition to streaming, single files or entire directories may be downloaded from Subsonic.
- Files can be uploaded to Subsonic. Zip-files can be automatically unpacked.
- You can specify a upload/download bandwidth limit.
- Implements the SHOUTcast protocol. Players which support this (including Winamp, iTunes and XMMS) will display the current artist and song name.
- Provides links to album reviews and more at Google Music and allmusic.com.
- Full internationalization support. Currently available translations: English, Norwegian, Macedonian (by Stefan Ivanovski), Simplified Chinese (by Neil Gao), Spanish (by Jorge Bueno Magdalena), German (by Harald Weiss), and Dutch (by Ronald Knot).
- Theme support. Currently ships with four themes.
nTunes 3.0
nTunes - Control the iTunes on the stereo from any other Mac on the network more>>
nTunes is a little network iTunes remote control script for Mac OS X
Note: to use the app you have to tailor it to your system. It should be easy, it just involves altering an Applescript in two places. There are instructions in each version.
Enhancements:
- It was created in XCode 2.0 in OS X 10.4.3. That might mean its a universal binary, so it might work on the forthcoming Intel Macs... but Im not really sure about that, and am too lazy to find out definitively.
- It also gives the app a metal theme rather than the old Aqua one. Lots of people hate metal, but nTunes is supposed to mimic a physical remote control that you hold in your hand, so the theme is appropriate. I also happen to think it looks better in this particular app, and I like that you can drag the app around from any part of it rather than just from the title bar.
- The shuffle toggle and volume bar are even more responsive in this version; both will change to reflect the music servers actual state whenever you click one of the other buttons (e.g. if you change the volume in some other manner, you can make nTuness volume bar reflect the current actual volume by simply pausing and unpausing the music).
- Last but not least, Ive added a whole new crapload of code to create a jukebox function. Its crude but it works.
