But with Exterminal you can. Its a Mac OS X terminal client application similar to the one supplied by Apple.
However, it runs entirely full screen, giving you that bare-bones feel. It also supports multiple sessions.
There are no Preferences or modifiable settings -- this is just a quick hack. The terminal emulation code is based on CocoaTechs CocoaTechTerminal class, which in turn is based on the open-source iTerm client. The code to Exterminal is also open-source under the Free Software Foundations GNU General Public License.

Applications that were tested and found to be supported out-of-the-box at at least one update source are: Adium X, Azureus, BBEdit, BitTorrent, Camino, Colloquy, DiVA, DivX, Fetch Art for iTunes, Fire, Flip4Mac WMV, Gizmo Project, Google Earth, goPod, Growl, HexEdit, iCab, iTerm, LAME mp3 Quicktime Components and Framework, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Suite, Mozilla Thunderbird, MPEG Streamclip, MPlayer OS X, OmniWeb, pearLyrics, Pod2Go, RealPlayer, ScummVM, Shiira, SixtyForce, Skype, StuffIt Expander, SubEthaEdit, TechTool Deluxe, Temperature Monitor, TeXShop, Toast Titanium, VLC media player, Xbench, XviD Quicktime Component.
Apart from those, many other applications are expected to work out-of-the-box as well. Others may require some additional configuration in the "Advanced" dialog. Please refer to the online-help.
Like for Widget Update, graphics were designed by Mike Pogran.
Setup
In order to make App Update find the applications you want to monitor for updates, you have to set the directory (or directories) where you keep them through the "Path Settings" dialog on App Updates back. It is recommended to organize your share- and freeware applications in seperate folders rather than dropping them all directly into the applications folder.
If you have used Widget Update before, you should feel right at home!
For additional information, please refer to the online help that can be opened at any time with the keyboard shortcut Shift+H.
Keyboard Cleaner 1.0
Keyboard Cleaner shields your desktop and intercepts every keystroke you might accidentally make more>>
Enter Keyboard Cleaner. It shields your desktop and intercepts every keystroke you might accidentally make except for Command-Q.
Needles to say that this was an educational project for me. While trying to create something like Visor for iTerm about a year ago I needed to figure out how to make a fading window without delving into Quarz Graphics too deeply.
Of course, Keyboard Cleaner comes free of cost. I even made a clunky video of how it works. Keyboard Cleaner is a Universal Binary and works with multi-monitor setups.

cd to... 2.3 is developed to be a quick and convenient application which can open a Terminal.app window cd'd to the front-most finder window. This app is designed (including it's icon) to placed in the finder window's toolbar. It's written in Objective-C and uses apple events which makes it much faster than applescript applets that do the same thing. Support has been added for iTerm, xterm and pathfinder (ie Finder->PathFinder not PathFinder->Terminal).
