Fractality 0.6

Fractality 0.6

Fractality is a very tractable and powerful sound tool. more>>

Fractality 0.6 is a very tractable and powerful sound tool. One of the ultimate time-wasting applications, Fractality is a toy and/or tool for creating polygonal fractals. Like geometric fractals, polygonal fractals are repetitive patterns following certain mathematical algorithms. Yet polygonal fractals are simpler, usually more symmetric, and often much more beautiful. They follow repeating patterns of simple algorithmic commands, and are essentially geometric shapes repeating on themselves over and over again.

Fractality is an original tool made to create and manipulate almost every aspect of these fractals. In Fractality, you have easy control over basic controls, like the number of iterations or the size of the fractal, and over precise iterative controls, like the angle of rotation per iteration, or the ability to cut off certain fingers. In addition, for beautification purposes, you have control over the color of the fractal, from beginning to end and even how fast the transition is.

For mathematical study or simple delight in not working, Fractality is the tool to use. The application utilizes easy-to-use controls in manipulating the fractals, and a templates menu for a place to start. Send us a copy of your favorite fractal!

Enhancements:

  • Fractality is undergoing heavy development and is a pre-release state. You can download a public preview of Fractality below or to the right, but be sure you realize this is a beta application and comes with no guarentees. It is offered as-is and we will take no responsibility for anything it may do to your system. Please be sure, however, that we offer only the best intentions and hope you will take advantage to look at this preview and offer your comments and suggestions.
  • Major changes since the last release:
  • Quick color buttons correctly working
  • Drawer toggle commands work on a per-document basis instead of application-wide
  • Drawer controls work on a per-fractal basis instead of application-wide
  • Tooltips are more helpful and say the right things
  • Most memory leaks should be fixed
  • Known Issues:
  • Export to JPEG is vertically inverted
  • Trouble with 1 iteration fractal drawing
  • No dirty window support yet, lacks undo features
  • Some truncating of long floats in precise iteration controls
  • Major Planned features: Export to multiple image formats in ready-set sizes (for easy export to desktop pictures)
  • Speed it up!

Requirements: Mac OS 10.3 or later.

JPEGtoASCII 2.0.0

JPEGtoASCII 2.0.0

JPEGtoASCII provides you with a versatile and extremely useful tool which is designed to convert any image file (not just JPEGs!) into blocks of text. more>>

JPEGtoASCII 2.0.0 provides you with a versatile and extremely useful tool which is designed to convert any image file (not just JPEGs!) into blocks of text. This product is totally free for everyone.

Usage:

  • To load a picture for interpretation, choose the File->Open menu or File->New then drag a picture file onto the window. The Characters Library is a string of characters that JPEGtoASCII will use to represent your picture.
  • If you want "black and white" then you simply add a clearly visable character like '$' followed by a space (white). The darker cells in the picture will be represented by characters from the left hand side of the library, and vica vera.
  • The refresh rate is the number of iterations the processing thread should execute before refreshing the user interface. In other words, a high refresh rate will get the job done faster. However, a very high refresh rate will offer little to no feedback du
  • Saved Resolution Sets are a quick way to jump between resolutions. If you want more detail, choose a lower cell size. The first value corresponds to the width, the second to the height of each cell. Be warned that if your picture is not evenly divisable into cells, the lower and right-most few pixels will not be represented.
  • This is usually not a problem, however. The Text Smoothing option may be beneficial on the windows version, but other than that serves no real purpose beyond looking pretty. Slows things down quite a bit though. Should you experience an error such that a window becomes unreachable/unusable, delete the preferences file.

Fractal Paths 2.0.2b17

Fractal Paths 2.0.2b17

Fractal Paths is a powerful fractal generator and renderer more>>
ractal Paths is a powerful fractal generator and renderer, like many other tools available. It also has a simple user interface offering the user direct control of the fractal, unlike many applications which only work with fixed equations and at best just let the users supply a few numbers.
Fractal Paths lets you draw a path, or an ordered set of points connected by lines. It then turns it into a fractal by repeatedly replacing all the lines with copies of the original shape.
Each time it does this its called an iteration, and fractal paths supports up to 500 iterations. Fractal Paths shows a live preview of the fractal behind your path as you draw & edit the path.
Full documentation is included along with several examples. Documentation is accessible through the help menu, along with contact information. If something is missing in the documentation, you find a bug, or you just have a question or comment send me an email.
Main features:
- Full support for multiple renderings and and drawing at once
- Saving and reopening saved fractals

R for Mac OS X 2.9

R for Mac OS X 2.9

R for Mac OS X is such an essential program which provides a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. more>>

R for Mac OS X 2.9 is such an essential program which provides a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.

R is similar to the award-winning S system, which was developed at Bell Laboratories by John Chambers et al. It provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques (linear and nonlinear modelling, statistical tests, time series analysis, classification, clustering, ...).

R is designed as a true computer language with control-flow constructions for iteration and alternation, and it allows users to add additional functionality by defining new functions. For computationally intensive tasks, C, C++ and Fortran code can be linked and called at run time.

Apart from specific innovations in R itself this new build provides a brand new Cocoa GUI designed and implemented from scratch with many new features. Among these: internal editor with syntax highlighting, code and file completion, enhanced AppleScript support, new packages installer and manager, data editor and manager.

Werkzeug 0.5

Werkzeug 0.5

The Swiss Army knife of Python web development more>>
Werkzeug 0.5 provides you an excellent and perfect product which was started as a simple collection of various utilities for WSGI applications and has become one of the most advanced WSGI utility modules. Werkzeug includes a powerful debugger, full featured request and response objects, HTTP utilities to handle entity tags, cache control headers, HTTP dates, cookie handling, file uploads, a powerful URL routing system and a bunch of community contributed addon modules.

Werkzeug is unicode aware and doesn't enforce a specific template engine, database adapter or anything else. Werkzeug doesn't even enforce a specific way of handling requests and will just leave all that up to the developer. Werkzeug is most useful for end user applications which should work on as many server environments as possible (such as blogs, wikis, bulletin boards, etc.).

Major Features:

  1. Unicode awareness
  2. Request and response objects
  3. Various utility functions for dealing with HTTP headers such as Accept and Cache-Control headers.
  4. Thread local objects with proper cleanup at request end
  5. An interactive debugger
  6. Wrapper around wsgiref that works around some of the limitations and bugs, adds threading and fork support for test environments and adds an automatic reloader.
  7. A flexible URL routing system with REST support.
  8. Fully WSGI compatible

Enhancements:

  • Requires Python 2.4 now
  • Fixed a bug in :class:`~contrib.IterIO`
  • Added :class:`MIMEAccept` and :class:`CharsetAccept` that work like the regular :class:`Accept` but have extra special normalization for mimetypes and charsets and extra convenience methods.
  • Switched the serving system from wsgiref to something homebrew.
  • The :class:`Client` now supports cookies.
  • Added the :mod:`~werkzeug.contrib.fixers` module with various fixes for webserver bugs and hosting setup side-effects.
  • Added :mod:`werkzeug.contrib.wrappers`
  • Added :func:`is_hop_by_hop_header`
  • Added :func:`is_entity_header`
  • Added :func:`remove_hop_by_hop_headers`
  • Added :func:`pop_path_info`
  • Added :func:`peek_path_info`
  • Added :func:`wrap_file` and :class:`FileWrapper`
  • Moved `LimitedStream` from the contrib package into the regular werkzeug one and changed the default behavior to raise exceptions rather than stopping without warning. The old class will stick in the module until 0.6.
  • Implemented experimental multipart parser that replaces the old CGI hack.
  • Added :func:`dump_options_header` and :func:`parse_options_header`
  • Added :func:`quote_header_value` and :func:`unquote_header_value`
  • :func:`url_encode` and :func:`url_decode` now accept a separator argument to switch between `&` and `;` as pair separator. The magic switch is no longer in place.
  • All form data parsing functions as well as the :class:`BaseRequest` object have parameters (or attributes) to limit the number of incoming bytes (either totally or per field).
  • Added :class:`LanguageAccept`
  • Request objects are now enforced to be read only for all collections.
  • Added many new collection classes, refactored collections in general.
  • Test support was refactored, semi-undocumented `werkzeug.test.File` was replaced by :class:`werkzeug.FileStorage`.
  • :class:`EnvironBuilder` was added and unifies the previous distinct :func:`create_environ`, :class:`Client` and :meth:`BaseRequest.from_values`. They all work the same now which is less confusing.
  • Officially documented imports from the internal modules as undefined behavior. These modules were never exposed as public interfaces.
  • Removed `FileStorage.__len__` which previously made the object falsy for browsers not sending the content length which all browsers do.
  • :class:`SharedDataMiddleware` uses `wrap_file` now and has a configurable cache timeout.
  • Added :class:`CommonRequestDescriptorsMixin`
  • Added :attr:`CommonResponseDescriptorsMixin.mimetype_params`
  • Added :mod:`werkzeug.contrib.lint`
  • Added `passthrough_errors` to `run_simple`.
  • Added `secure_filename`
  • Added :func:`make_line_iter`
  • :class:`MultiDict` copies now instead of revealing internal lists to the caller for `getlist` and iteration functions that return lists.
  • Added :attr:`follow_redirect` to the :func:`open` of :class:`Client`.
  • Added support for `extra_files` in :func:`~werkzeug.script.make_runserver`

BeanKeeper 2.3.0.3

BeanKeeper 2.3.0.3

BeanKeeper is a full featured, powerful object/relational persistence and query library for Java more>>
BeanKeeper, formerly called Simple Persistence for Java is a full featured, powerful object/relational persistence and query library for Java.
Main features:
- Simple usage, which is possible with learning only 3 methods, and reading the tutorial.
- Zero-configuration. Nothing needs to be configured, only the database url is needed for the library to initialize.
- Scalability. The library is capable of distributed operation, from virtually unlimited nodes.
- Relations like references to other objects, Lists, Maps, Sets, Collections are handled 100% transparently by the library.
- Large result sets are automatically paged! Paging is 100% transparent, so a million-record result list can be given directly to the presentation layer, without caring for memory usage and database load!
- Transactions are always serializable. Meaning: during a transaction nothing can influence the result of queries from outside the transaction. This practically means, a programmer does not have to care about other transactions possibly influencing the logic inside his transaction.
- Full (transparent) polymorphism support ensures that (most of the time) the library does not get in the way of the programmer. The model is persisted just in the way the programmer expressed through inheritence, and is recalled with all the attributes of polymorphism.
- A custom, object oriented query language ensures, that no complicated SQL needs to be written.
- Scalar query support enables view-centric, more efficient data recall.
- Real portability between databases. BeanKeeper hides all database specific behaviour from the programmer, like: null value handling, empty strings (oracle), case sensitive and insensitive searches, reserved names, etc. That means, one may switch between database implementations, and may assume that (with the exception of a few documented cases) the software build upon the library will continue to work.
Enhancements:
- Improved lazylist iteration performance
- Fixed HSQLDB double shudown bug
- Fixed serial generation
