Free iphoto library software for mac

iPhoto Librarian can be used to launch iPhoto with a different library folder. This allows you to have multiple collections of photos that are not viewable as one large collection. The advantage of this is if you have one or more collections of photos which you dont want mixed together.

By default iPhotos library folder is located under "iPhoto Library" within the Pictures folder of your Home folder. iPhoto Librarian allows you to maintain multiple such folders of images.

Youre probably familiar with the iTunes Artwork screensaver. There was no equivalent screensaver for iPhoto, until now!

Uses Your Existing Photo Library
iPhotoWebShare works with your current iPhoto library, so you dont need to transfer your pictures to a new location -- your pictures continue to be maintained by iPhoto. This means you dont have to learn how to use another photo application or have to periodically copy pictures to a different location. iPhotoWebShare works with iPhoto version 4 and version 5 libraries.
iPhotoWebShare does not modify any iPhoto database files or picture files, so your data is completely safe. It notices when iPhoto updates its library, and shows the changes the next time the web page is accessed.

Share With Everyone!
iPhotoWebShare allows you to share your iPhoto libraries with everyone. Although iPhoto allows you to share your library, it not only requires the server to be running iPhoto, but the client as well. Since iPhoto isnt thrifty in its memory usage, both systems tend to get bogged down. iPhotoWebShare runs as a small, background task, so you dont have to run iPhoto to share -- you dont even have to be logged in! With iPhotoWebShare, your photos are accessible through web browsers, so family and friends can view them using Safari, Mozilla, or Internet Explorer on Macs, PCs, or Unix boxes!

iPhotoWebShare uses Rendezvous to advertise its service, so local Mac users will automatically see your library being shared in Safaris Rendezvous menu (also works in Camino.)

iPhoto Diet is a utility for slimming down iPhoto libraries. It removes the original copies of modified photos based on several selectable criteria. For example, criteria include removing unrotated originals or redundant duplicates.
As well, iPhoto Diet can remove the icon thumbnails from photo files, saving additional space. Useful utility prior to burning your iPhoto libraries onto CDs or for freeing up hard drive space. iPhoto Diet can be run manually or set to run automatically at desired times. It is available in multiple languages and welcomes contributions for additional languages.

Background
Digital cameras attach information to each photo you take. This information - called EXIF data - contains the time-stamp, aperture and shutter time amongst other things.

However some brands of cameras also attach a lot of (arguably) extraneous data. This is inconvenient for a number of reasons, but most of all the fact that iPhoto caches all this data in its Library file resulting in slower operation after each new import of photos. Affected camera brands include: Casio, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Nikon and Pentax - amongst others.

Purpose
This application will seamlessly clean your photos of extraneous exif data prior to importing into iPhoto.

Warning!
This application deletes data it believes is redundant. Please work on a backup copy of your images if you are worried about data loss. Also note that this software may not work with your images. Use at your own risk.
