libiconv Installer Package 1.8

libiconv Installer Package 1.8

libiconv Installer Package - Installer package for libiconv, a Unix library used for charset conversion more>>
libiconv is a Unix library used for charset conversion. Most people wont ever have the need to use it directly, but a number of useful applications (including ht://Dig and wvWare) require libiconv.

libiconv is Open Source Software released by the GNU project; in other words: I did not write this software, but only compiled it and built this installer package.

My package was created using Apples “PackageMaker” and contains nothing but libiconv, compiled from the unmodified sources. If you are a Fink user, you should consider downloading Finks libiconv distribution instead.

Expat Installer Package 1.95.8

Expat Installer Package 1.95.8

Expat Installer Package - Installer package for Expat more>>
Expat is a non-validating XML parser written by James Clark and released under an Open Source license. This implies I only compiled it and built this installer package, but I did not not develop the software.

Most users wont ever use expat directly (although the included xmlwf application can be handy to check the wellformedness of an XML document, if xmllint is not available), but it is a prerequisite for some other software, for instance some XML-related Perl modules or the Sablotron XSL-T processor.

This installer will install expat compiled from the original, unmodified sources.

sitecopy Installer Package - Installer for sitecopy, a shell application thats very useful when programming for the web more>>
Sitecopy is a shell application thats very useful when programming for the web (at least in those cases when you cant use rsync). Its purpose is to synchronize local and remote files, i.e.: upload those that are outdated on the server, remove old ones and so on. The application is Open Source Software and was not written by me—I only compiled it and built the OSX installer package.

This installer package will install nothing but a sitecopy binary, compiled from the original, unmodifed sources, and some support files. (Before the installation starts, you will be presented a list of all files that will be installed.)

pdftotext Installer Package 3.0pl3

pdftotext Installer Package 3.0pl3

pdftotext Instaler Package - Instaler Package for pdftotext a shell program for converting PDF documents into plain text more>>
“Pdftotext” is a shell program for converting PDF (Portable Document Format / Adobe Acrobat) documents into plain text. It is Open Source Software written by Glyph & Cog, LLC; this implies I only compiled it and built this installer package, but Im not the author of this software.

This installer will install nothing but a “pdftotext” binary and its manpage, compiled from the unmodified sources. Originally, “pdftotext” is part of the “Xpdf” software, which is a viewer for PDF documents. As I only needed the converter and not the viewer itself, this package does not contain anything except “pdftotext”. (Besides the fact that a full “Xpdf” installation requires the X window system.)

i-Installer 2.88

i-Installer 2.88

i-Installer - a generic software install and configuration application more>>
i-Installer is a network-aware installer application for Mac OS X 10.2 or higher.

i-Installer is a tool that installs i-Packages which are directories with a name ending on .ii2 and which contain a set of files. An in-depth introduction (in fact: the i-Installer Help Book) can be found here.

i-Installer is a generic software install and configuration application. It can install socalled i-Packages, which are wrappers (directories containing files) with names ending on .ii2 and which will look like files in most applications (like the Finder).

i-Packages can be updated and downloaded from remote locations. Most of this will happen automcatically.

i-Packages may have the following functionality:
• Installation (and subsequent Configuration)
• (re-)Configuration
• Uninstallation (removal)

i-Packages may be interactive in a limited way. i-installer provides the package with access to several predefined sheets that can be displayed on the package window.

That way, especially configuration can involve the user. (In other words: install TeX and select formats, languages in a GUI, install ghostscript and be offered a choice to add TeXs type1 fonts to an installed ghostscript).

i-Packages exist just like other wrappers: on your hard disk. You can create packages from remote URL locations by entering an URL (like http://www.ntg.nl/macosx-tex/i-packages/texmf.ii2 in a panel.

LANrev InstallEase 1.2.3

LANrev InstallEase 1.2.3

LANrev InstallEase is considered as an interesting utility that lets you create installer packages with minimal effort by walking you through the entire process. more>>

LANrev InstallEase 1.2.3 is considered as an interesting utility that lets you create installer packages with minimal effort by walking you through the entire process. Its intuitive easy-to-use interface takes the confusion out of building custom software packages enabling you to spend your time on more critical management tasks. The best part of InstallEase is that it's free!

After InstallEase completes its task, use LANrev Client Management Suite to deploy the custom PKG or DMG software package you just created. InstallEase lets you control which files to install while LANrev's many software installation options and conditions let you fine-tune precisely when the package should install.

Major Features:

  1. Automated "Before" and "After" Snapshots: InstallEase's automatic snapshot feature takes the guess work out of creating custom packages. Simply take a "before" and "after" snapshot of your system when installing your software and InstallEase will generate a list of file changes that are part of your installation. InstallEase even lets you pick which folders or drives to monitor for changes. On Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard the "after" snapshot is nearly instantaneous.
  2. Build Packages Manually: While snapshots are great for more complicated software packages, sometimes it's just faster to build a package manually, particularly for drag and drop applications. InstallEase allows you to skip the snapshotting process altogether and drag and drop files/folders directly from the Finder into the InstallEase window.
  3. Install Files to the Current User's Home Folder: When used in conjunction with LANrev's "Install when a user is logged in" installation option, InstallEase packages can install files to the current user's home folder. Items from the user's home folder will be listed under the path "Installation Root/Users/" in the snapshot.
  4. Exclusion Filters: An exhaustive list of preset filters is included to exclude extraneous file system changes that occur as a normal part of Mac OS X. These can be edited to suit your needs or you can add your own to screen out other file system changes you want to exclude.
  5. Intuitive Graphical User Interface for Editing Changes: InstallEase's "Snapshot Data" screen provides a straightforward intuitive user interface for validating snapshot changes and editing user/group ownerships and permissions for snapshot changes. You have free reign to rearrange and remove items as desired with drag and drop. You can even add entries to the snapshot by seamlessly dragging and dropping directly from the Finder into the InstallEase window.
  6. Uninstaller PKGs: For easier rollbacks of software installations, InstallEase can build an uninstaller PKG from an existing PKG. This ensures that only new files that were added are removed so you can be assured that no system critical files are accidentally deleted during the rollback. Uninstaller PKGs can also be based on snapshot data or manually specified filesystem entries.
  7. Output to PKG, Iceberg Project, or DMG formats: Different installer formats have different advantages so InstallEase lets you choose the one that works best for you. DMGs are more convenient for simple drag and drop applications and can be modified later by converting the disk image to read/write format. PKGs are the easiest to roll back by creating an uninstaller PKG from the original installer PKG. Iceberg projects allow you to add pre and postflight scripts to the installer. If you can't decide which one fits your needs output the package in all these formats at the same time.

Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 or higher
