Vi Input Manager 0.3.1
Vi Input Manager - Extends text fields with Vi-like functionality more>>
Essentially, this add Vi command functionality (albeit a small subset) to any (and all) text editors that use the Cocoa text system; e.g., Safari, TeXShop, XCode, etc. Note, however, this does not work for other programs that do not use the Cocoa system.
All the text windows, will initialize in "input" mode (standard cocoa text input). You invoke the Vi-command window (exit the input mode) by hitting ` (the back-apostrophe key, this is customizable, see installation instructions) and then key in your favorite Vi commands.
For example, move down a line j, move right l, delete two lines d2d, and so on. You enter back into "input" mode by typing the i. You get the idea. Right now, you should be thinking -- "you mean the editor in XCode will behave like Vi?" Answer: Yes.

Quick Pallet Maker 4.5
Quick Pallet Maker is considered as a very convenient as well as effective Pallet Loading application that calculates the optimal box dimensions in order to fit the most packages into a shipping pallet. more>>
Quick Pallet Maker 4.5 is considered as a very convenient as well as effective Pallet Loading application that calculates the optimal box dimensions in order to fit the most packages into a shipping pallet. The user introduces the dimensions for his/her Primary Package along with other physical information and the program displays the available solutions graphically.
Major Features:
- Input
- Start from Primary Package: The Quick Pallet Maker user can choose to start to create an optimal pallet load by entering the primary package dimensions, the box construction type and constraints, the dimensions of the physical shipping pallet and the pallet load constraints. See example.
- Start from Box Dimensions: Optimal pallet arrangements can be calculated with Quick Pallet Maker by introducing the case sizes, the pallet dimensions and the pallet load constraints. See movie.
- Standard Cases and Pallets: Quick Pallet Maker contains a list of cases and pallets that can be reused in different problem types. The standard cases can be used to accomodate a fixed number of primary packages or to fit as many primary packages as possible into the cases with those dimensions. See example.
- Container Fill Window: Quick Pallet Maker provides a means for filling containers without having to calculate the pallets or boxes first. This is done by opening a new Container Fill window and entering or importing the objects for filling the container.
- Box Calculations
- Design boxes from PP dimensions: The default calculation mode will produce boxes that are big enough to fit a predetermined amount of primary packages within it. The internal box dimensions are then equal to the external dimensions of the regular group of primary packages.
- Fit into standard case dimensions: As explained before, the user can add standard case dimensions (off-the-shelf boxes) to be reused in different packaging situations. The most common use for this range of boxes is to enter a fixed case count and then check which one of the standard cases is close enough to the calculated dimensions to be used as the packaging box.
- Fill standard cases: This calculating mode will start from the dimensions of the standard cases and then add primary packages in different orientations in order to fit as many as possible within the box. All of this is done while taking care of not exceeding the maximum slack allowed.
- Pallet Calculations
- Use standard pallet dimensions: Commonly-used pallet dimensions can be stored within the standard cases and pallets window in order to be selected when necessary.
- Regular pallets: The default pallet calculation will arrange the boxes by layers within the restricted area of the pallet. In these basic arrangements, the boxes are completely alligned, either lengthwise or transversal to the pallet length.
- Optimized pallets: Optimization algorithms built into Quick Pallet Maker will rearrange the boxes in the pallets in order to fit as many as possible into a pallet layer, even if the outcome is not a regular arrangement.
- Pinwheel (display) patterns: Quick Pallet Maker can produce pallet arrangements that are specially made for displaying box sides and/or box lengths to customers. This is done automatically from one of the pallet commands.
- Alternate and Mix Layers: In some cases, it is more important to maintain the stability of the pallet load than to optimize the strength that must be supported by each one of the boxes in the pallet. In this case, Quick Pallet Maker provides a method to automatically alternate the pallet layers. In other cases, a new pallet can be formed using arrangements from different pallets.
- Layer Editor: In some cases, the desired pallet arrangement does not match any of the available optimizations in Quick Pallet Maker. For these cases, we have added the Layer Editor, which allows the user to rotate and move the boxes one by one. See example.
- Container Fill
- Single-Sized Objects: Use the Quick Pallet Maker container fill window for calculating how many packs (pallets, boxes or cylinders) can be fit into a container. See example.
- Multiple-Sized Objects: Create a shipment of certain amounts of pallets, boxes and drums for delivery within a container. Quick Pallet Maker optimizes the arrangement of these objects to reduce costs as much as possible. See example.
- Place Boxes on Their Sides: Quick Pallet Maker container fill allows the user to place boxes in whichever orientation they wish, in both single-type and multiple-type container fills.
- Calculate Shipping Costs: After entering the shipping cost for a single container, Quick Pallet Maker will calculate the cost for shipping each item within the container as a function of its weight.
- Output options
- Detailed Report: The default output option for pallets created with Quick Pallet Maker is to present the pallet, box and primary package (if applicable) drawings, along with information of the dimensions of each one of these packaging components.
- Graphics: Quick Pallet Maker provides the means to export each one of the drawings that can be produced with the application, besides exporting the graphics of the detailed report. Each one of the primary package, box and pallet drawings can be exported to any graphics format that is supported by QuickTime.
- Report Text: The text from the detailed report can be exported independently of the graphics in order for it to be opened with a spreadsheet program or text editor.
- Box Coordinates: Quick Pallet Maker provides a means to feed data into a palletizing machine which is the Box Coordinates export, a text file that includes coordinates (x,y and z) and the box orientation.
- Palletization Movie: Quick Pallet Maker includes a feature that creates an animation of the pallet under construction. This animation (in QuickTime format) can be shared with co-workers that have installed the free QuickTime viewer in their PCs.
- File Formats
- Input File Formats: XML text (for all QPM input files), Tab-delimited spreadsheet.
- Output File Formats:
- XML text (for all QPM output files)
- CSV (Comma-Separated Values) for box coordinates
- SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) for box drawing
- MS Excel (pallet report)
- JPEG, BMP, PICT and other QuickTime-supported formats (for report graphics)
- QuickTime Movie (.mov) for pallet and container fill animations
Enhancements:
- [All] NF: Functional Quick Pallet Maker web-based server. Final spec to be defined.
- [All] NF: Pallet lists with multiple boxes can now be exported to the MS Excel 2003 XML spreadsheet format which is readable by MS Excel version 2003 and above, besides other apps like OpenOffice Calc.
- [All] AF: Clicking "Optimize" on a Type 10 calculated pallet delivers equivalent optimizations but with alternative patterns. If no pattern is available with the same amount of cartons per pallet, then nothing will appear.
- [All] BF: Advanced Input Options window can now calculate cylindrical package box fill and will not crash if this option has been selected.
Requirements:
- PowerPC or Intel-Based Macintosh running Mac OSX 10.3 or greater.
- 256 MB of free RAM
- Color Monitor, minimum resolution 800x600 pixels.
- QuickTime 6 or later is required for exporting reports to various graphics formats and for movie export.

MogileFS 2.20
Distributed (meta) file system. Spray files across cheap disks on your network. Pay less for storage. No proprietary on-disk file formats. more>> Distributed (meta) file system. Spray files across cheap disks on your network. Pay less for storage. No proprietary on-disk file formats.
MogileFS is an open source distributed filesystem. MogileFS is not:
- POSIX Compliant -- you dont run regular Unix applications or databases against MogileFS. Its meant for archiving write-once files and doing only sequential reads. (though you can modify a file by way of overwriting it with a new version)
- Completely portable ... yet -- there still is some Linux-ism in the code, at least in the HTTP transport cod, but the plan is to scrap that and make it portable
Main features:>
- Application level -- no special kernel modules required.
- No single point of failure -- all three components of a MogileFS setup (storage nodes, trackers, and the trackers database(s)) can be run on multiple machines, so theres no single point of failure. (you can run trackers on the same machines as storage nodes, too, so you dont need 4 machines...) A minimum of 2 machines is recommended.
- Automatic file replication -- files, based on their "class", are automatically replicated between enough different storage nodes as to satisfy the minimum replica count as requested by their class. For instance, for a photo hosting site you can make original JPEGs have a minimum replica count of 3, but thumbnails and scaled versions only have a replica count of 1 or 2. If you lose the only copy of a thumbnail, the application can just rebuild it. In this way, MogileFS (without RAID) can save money on disks that would otherwise be storing multiple copies of data unnecessarily.
- "Better than RAID" -- in a non-SAN RAID setup, the disks are redundant, but the host isnt. If you lose the entire machine, the files are inaccessible. MogileFS replicates the files between devices which are on different hosts, so files are always available.
- Flat Namespace -- Files are identified by named keys in a flat, global namespace. You can create as many namespaces as youd like, so multiple applications with potentially conflicting keys can run on the same MogileFS installation.
- Shared-Nothing -- MogileFS doesnt depend on a pricey SAN with shared disks. Every machine maintains its own local disks.
- No RAID required -- Local disks on MogileFS storage nodes can be in a RAID, or not. Its cheaper not to, as RAID doesnt buy you any safety that MogileFS doesnt already provide.
- Local filesystem agnostic -- Local disks on MogileFS storage nodes can be formatted with your filesystem of choice (ext3, XFS, etc..). MogileFS does its own internal directory hashing so it doesnt hit filesystem limits such as "max files per directory" or "max directories per directory". Use what youre comfortable with.

Tri-CATALOG 6.1
Tri-CATALOG is a convenient tool for which analyzes and catalogues an unlimited number of volumes (external and internal hard disks, remote disks, CDs, DVDs, cartridges, etc.)... more>>
Tri-CATALOG 6.1 is a convenient tool for which analyzes and catalogues an unlimited number of volumes (external and internal hard disks, remote disks, CDs, DVDs, cartridges, etc.) is a convenient tool for which analyzes and catalogues an unlimited number of volumes (external and internal hard disks, remote disks, CDs, DVDs, cartridges, etc.) and folders, and saves the collected information in its data base (list of files and folders, thumbnail for the pictures, date, size, Exif and IPTC data, etc.).
Tri-CATALOG saves in its data base as many volumes or folders as you want. The data base is updated with the list of all files and folders of the volumes and related information. A thumbnail is created and added in the data base for each picture. Volumes and folders are entirely analyzed when you drag and drop them on Tri-CATALOG. You can also ask Tri-CATALOG to automatically analyze or update any volume that is inserted (CD, DVD, external disk, etc.).
Volumes are listed in the main window, where you can organize, classify, regroup and rename them.
As Tri-CATALOG has saved in its data base all data related to volumes, contents and pictures, there is no need to have the original files available in the machine to browse in the volumes, view the pictures and search files. And the access to files and pictures is very fast as all the data are in the data base (Tri-CATALOG does not need to rescan the volumes each time you need to access them).
The browser is the place where you control each volume. It shows its contents, files, thumbnails and related information (including Exif and IPTC data), and can also display the full pictures if the original file is available.
You can enrich the data base with comments and keywords for each file or picture, or give a quotation to your preferred pictures to retrieve them easily. Tri-CATALOG provides a powerful multi-criteria search engine, to find files and pictures matching criteria like name, date, size of files and size of pictures, comments and keywords, etc. You can use Exif and IPTC data in the search, and Boolean operators to create a filter that fits your needs.
You can open multiple search sessions, and combine successive search results (add a result to a previous search, search within a previous search, etc.). Tri-CATALOG provides a powerful search function that can retrieve duplicate files, as well as identical pictures (even with different formats and resolutions), and similar pictures (pictures that look like the original pictures).
With Smart Volumes, Tri-CATALOG creates search engines where the results are saved and accessible at any time. You can have as many Smart Volumes as desired, each one with its own settings. For example, you can use Smart Volumes to show the latest pictures, to update the list of installed applications, to group all files and pictures related to a given project, etc.
A Picture Library regroups in a separate file pictures and related information: thumbnail, Exif, IPTC and other data, comments and keywords, etc. Drag and drop any picture to a library to enrich it, sort pictures, remove, add new pictures at any time. The library will be updated automatically..
Each Library is saved in a separate file that you can send to other users, or use them to keep your preferred pictures. From a Library, you can launch a full screen slideshow, with options to set the time interval, a loop display, pause, etc.
It is often boring and time spending to classify the picture taken with a digital camera. You have a lot of pictures with unusable names. You must change their name, scan each one to get the best of them, can zoom to check the details and clarity, check if they are underexposed, add comments and quotation, etc.
You can easily do all that with Tri-CATALOG. For example, copy your photos pell-mell in a folder that you let Tri-CATALOG analyze. All pictures are displayed. You can have a look at each one, delete those that do not interest you, rename all of them in a snap, zoom and display the histogram to detect underexposed pictures, check Exif data to control exposure conditions, etc.
Shortcuts are available to delete pictures, rename in one operation all selected pictures (with text, date, numbering), and copy some of them in a folder (for example to send them to print).
From the browser of a volume, you can drag and drop pictures to the Finder (to copy them) or any other application accepting drag and drop of files (layout and design application, text editor, web site editor, etc.).
Major Features:
- Analyze any volume or folder, with no limit of quantity and size.
- Create and keep thumbnails for pictures, Exif and IPTC data and file information.
- Can automatically analyze volumes when inserted in your machine.
- Smart Volumes.
- Pictures library and diaporama.
- Build-in Zoom and Histogram features.
- Drag and drop to other applications.
- Export to Text, Catalog and HTML.
- Reader mode (consultation only).
- Mac OS X only.
- Universal Binary application (runs natively on Mac PowerPC and Intel).
Enhancements:.
- Snow Leopard compatible.
- Fixed a problem that could crash with Snow Leopard.
- Fixed various problems of instability.
- No more scan some folders reserved to the System (at the root of the disk).
Requirements:
- Macintosh with PowerPC or Intel processor
- Mac OS X 10.4 or more - 512 MB RAM
- CD-ROM or DVD drive
