NP | Music to be free 2.0
Allows you to be up to date with the latest projects developed by Niko Pavlidis. more>> Wordsmith.org runs a mailing list called A.Word.A.Day. Its a great service and Ive been a subscriber for a number of years. However, I can never retain the vocab word I get each day. I get a new e-mail in the morning, look at the word, think to myself "Oh, thats an interesting word. I should try and remember that one", and then off I go to start my day. So I hit upon an idea based on those "Word A Day" desk calendars: what if I wrote an app that displayed the current word of the day on my screen so that anytime I wasnt doing anything, Id see the word. After several days of work, AWAD Desktop was created.<<less

Laughing Man Factorial beta build 1234
Laughing Man Factorial - Webpage monitoring tool more>>
Laughing Man Factorial is the paranormal evil twin of Laughing Man. Factorial also has an unexplained superiority complex, almost exponential you might say, over the original Laughing Man which we will hence forth refer to as Junior for appeasement of currently unwarranted hoity-toity. Like Junior it is an application for monitoring webpage changes, however it does so using the Objective-C/Cocoa framework as opposed to Java, and leverages Core Data, bindings, and value transformers to produce a smaller code footprint. Less fluff and more meat I say, more meat and less fluff.
Factorial is in a experimental state, it is not recommended that current users of Junior switch completely to this version. You can safely import your data and tinker with Factorial, but it is recommended that any data that you want to remain consistent, be done through old stable Junior.
Factorial may not be forgiving on data when upgrading from one version to the next for the next several releases, hence the adjectives paranormal and evil in the preface.
Enhancements:
Laughing Man Functional Equivalence

The Outlaw Widget 1.0
The Outlaw Widget - Undoctored quotes from the 43rd president, George W. Bush more>>
My buddy Marc has a daily calendar of Bush quotes. Its quite the event as he reads the quote of the day to the gathered masses in the morning. I thought, hey, I could share this delightful experience with the world at large by creating a widget. So, If the DailyTao is not presenting you with enough befuddlement on your desktop, I now give you wSpeaka widget that gives you a daily quote from our 43rd president,George W. Bush.
The Outlaw Widget
For some unknown reason, this widget is too hot to handle at some other download sites. One of them flat-out refuses to list it on their site. Another one listed it for about two hours and then took it down. Thats okay, no problem there. Showing actually undoctored quotes from the president, well thats getting too hot to handle. What a bunch of wusses!

MacJanitor 1.2.1
Manually run the maintenance scripts that are normally run automatically at night and on weekends with this Mac OS X utility. more>>
MacJanitor 1.2.1 is known as an effective system utility which is designed to be used on a periodic basis by Mac OS X 1.0 users who don't leave their computers on 24 hours a day. MacJanitor is provided as freeware as a service to laptop and energy-conscious home users.
The Unix subsystems on Mac OS X were originally written for machines that were typically never shut off. Mac OS X inherits this assumption in version 1.0, and has many system-maintenance tasks scheduled to run between 3 and 5 a.m. In addition, scripts are designed to run weekly on weekends and once a month in the middle of the night.
If these maintenance tasks are never run (such as on a laptop that is always shut off at night), many log files and system databases will grow extremely large or fail to get backed up. MacJanitor provides a way to run these system tasks at the click of a button. Laptop users could click the Daily button every morning (or every few days), and office workers could click the Weekly button on Mondays.
