id3_tag.pl is a perl script for inteligently setting ID3 tags on mp3 files. It will read id3v1 and id3v2 tags and formulate a new set of tags. The user can set which tags should take preference.

The script can also use directory information to help determine appropriate tags. After the script determines as much info as it can it will ask the user to validate the tags and make changes if necessary.

If you have a massive amount of ID3 tags to update in a playlist, and have the tags in a text file, create a tab delimited text file with the tracks ID3 tags and use this script to place the tags into the frontmost playlist in SoundJam MP (you can modify the script to work with iTunes).
Text File to SJ ID3tags is a small AppleScript that will update ID3 tags from an external text file using soundJam.

ArtDeCodex 0.30b is a simple and effective tool which allows you to decode iTunes 7 .itc files into plain old png or jpg files so you can use them outside of iTunes. Prior to iTunes 7 and coverflow, these artwork files were stored as id3 data. Since coverflow was introduced in iTunes 7, Apple has adopted the opaque and largely unreadable .itc format for files in the ~/Music/iTunes/AlbumArtwork folder.
