Apple Ethernet speed & duplex tool 6.21a4 is an innovative and versatile unsupported system extension that allows you to disable the auto negotiation and set the speed (10 Mbit or 100 Mbit) and duplex (Full or Half) for the built in Ethernet of an Apple iMac, a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White version only), or a 1999 PowerBook G3 (Bronze version only). Speed Freak, at a user-specified interval, reprioritizes applications so that the frontmost (or active) application gets more processor time than background applications. By default in Mac OS X, all processes have equal priority.
By using Speed Freak, you override this default by increasing the priority of whatever application you are currently using, resulting in faster application performance. Speed Freak accomplishes this through the Unix renice command.
Speed Freak will not affect graphics card performance and will show little to no increase in 3D games. Although Speed Freak does not affect network performance, the increased CPU priority it offers should increase performance in internet applications. For example, web pages with complicated HTML should render faster but download speed will not change.

Speed Reading III was developed to help you improve your reading speed. The average reader reads at about 200 words per minute (wpm) with a typical comprehension of 60%. The top 1% of readers do much better, reading at more than 1000 wpm with a comprehension of 85%. Such highspeed reading requires serious concentration.

This application lets you try reading by looking at two midpoints on each line and continuing to move forward without going back and re-reading. Ten text sources are included plus you can choose your own text source.

When preparing to use your own text source, remove empty lines because the application will stop reading a text source upon encountering an empty line. If the text source is longer than can be held by the window, you will see only the amount that fits into the window.

You can adjust the speed of the moving window from approximately 50 wpm to 1500 wpm in four ranges (very slow, slow, medium, and fast). A slider is provided to adjust the speed within each range. The approximate speed (words per minute) is displayed.
