Ch Standard Edition 6.1

Ch Standard Edition 6.1

Ch Standard Edition is considered as an embeddable C/C++ interpreter designed for cross-platform scripting, shell programming, 2D/3D plotting, numerical computing, and embedded scripting. more>>

Ch Standard Edition 6.1 is considered as an embeddable C/C++ interpreter designed for cross-platform scripting, shell programming, 2D/3D plotting, numerical computing, and embedded scripting.

It is the most complete C interpreter in existence for scripting, plotting and numerical computing. It supports 1990 ISO C Standard (C90), major features in C99, classes in C++, POSIX, X11/Motif, OpenGL, ODBC, XML, GTK+, Win32, CGI, 2D/3D graphical plotting, socket/Winsock, C LAPACK, high level numeric functions, and shell programming.

Major Features:

  1. A complete C interpreter supporting all features in the ISO C90 Standard.
  2. Easy interface with C/C++ binary libraries using Ch SDK
  3. Wide characters in Addendum 1 for C90.
  4. Ch supports more new features added in the latest ISO C99 Standard than most existing C compilers. Ch is the first implementation of complex numbers, variable length arrays (VLAs), IEEE-754 floating-point arithmetic, generic mathematical functions in C99.
  5. Many salient C++ features including classes, objects and encapsulation for object-based programming (Brain-damaging features are excluded).
  6. Complex IEEE floating-point arithmetic with complex metanumbers ComplexInf and ComplexNaN.
  7. Assumed-shape arrays for passing multi-dimensional arrays of different sizes to the same argument of a function.
  8. Nested functions and nested classes for modular programming.
  9. Interactive execution of C statements, perfect solution for classroom demos using a laptop.
  10. Interactive portable shell across different platforms.
  11. A very-high level language (VHLL) environment for shell programming to automate tasks and system administration.
  12. Safe Ch with built-in secure sandbox and Ch applet for world-wide distributed network computing. As a very high-level language at the source level, a Ch applet can be very small, but with very powerful capabilities. It is especially suitable for bandwidth sensitive devices such as handheld computers and cellular phones.
  13. Built-in string type with automatic memory management and advanced text processing capabilities for shell programming and script computing.
  14. Adjustable array bounds, i.e., int a[1:10].
  15. Auto array bound checking.
  16. TCP/IP socket/WinSock for network computing.
  17. POSIX for portable scripting.
  18. Cross platform Unix utilities and commands such as vi, ls, awk, sed, mv,rm, cp, find, grep, vim with syntax highlighting for Ch, etc.
  19. A large number of Integrated Development Environment (IDE) support Ch. For example, ChSciTE allows you to edit, parse, and run C, Ch and C++ code within the IDE with the user interface in over 30 local languages such as German, Chinese, and Korea.
  20. OpenGL toolkit
  21. GTK+ toolkit
  22. Windows toolkit on Windows
  23. X/Motif toolkit on Unix/Linux
  24. Common Gateway Interface (CGI)
  25. Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)
  26. An increasing number of third party products and user contributed code

JCap 0.7.6

JCap 0.7.6

JCap adds captions and descriptions to your digital photograph collection in order to find them later more>>
JCap is an easy to use application for adding captions and descriptions to your digital photograph collection and then finding them later. JCap is a self-contained Java application that requires no external database to operate.

I created JCap because I needed an application that I could use to caption and describe each of my digital photos, help me find them later, let me easily use those descriptions in other applications, and allow me to easily archive the images and descriptions together.

The main goals being: to be able to find photos later, to help me share the photos with others in online galleries, and to be able to read these descriptions thirty years from now on whatever computer I happen to have at the time.

JCap doesnt require a separate database application or web server to run. Captions, descriptions, and keywords are stored in plain text files in the same folder as the images they describe and can be read by any application that can read text files. This means you will be able to use any application or tool you want (notepad, grep, album generating software, your favorite HTML editor, scripting languages, etc) to read and manipulate the captions however you want.

And since the captions and descriptions are stored as text files in the same folder as the images themselves, archiving them is as simple as copying the image and the associated caption/description file to the archive location (e.g. burning to CD).

JCap is not an online photo gallery creator. JCap does not create thumbnails. JCap is not an image editing application (in fact, JCap will never modify any of your images, ever, for any reason).

There are many fine applications out there already that do those things. In fact, if you are looking for gallery creation software, the one I use (and one of the very best available) is JAlbum. JAlbum is one of many applications that can work with the caption and description data that JCap generates.

pidof 0.1.4

pidof 0.1.4

pidof is a utility to display the PID number for a given process name more>>
pidof is a small program that will return the PID number for a given process name.

Note that this program works similar to using grep - it will list all matches for the given process name, so if there are more than one process that contain the name given, all will be listed.

To install, either use sudo ./installer from this directory, or copy the pidof program file to where you wish, and the man page if you wish to install that, as well.

You can customize the install path with the installer by giving it the path you wish to install as an argument. E.g. sudo ./installer /usr will install it to /usr rather than to /usr/local (the default).

PLTools 1.0

PLTools 1.0

PLTools - Perl scripts for cleaning prefs files more>>
These scripts, written in Perl, are quite simple in nature. I spend a lot of time cleaning out and exploring preference files when administering Mac OS X machines, and Mac OS X 10.4s propensity toward binary .plist files made this process much more tedious. The apparent alternative is a GUI, such as Apples very own "Property List Editor" application. While such tools have their places, I am not a fan of managing .plist files with a GUI, especially when I dont necessarily know what I want to do until I perform a grep or two. Hence these scripts, which should work in any version of Mac OS X, but are ideally suited to Mac OS X 10.4 and higher.
I wrote them to avoid painful retyping of Apples plutil command. All three scripts run plutil in one form or another to get the job done, and their use should be obvious to just about anyone familiar with a UNIX command line.
Those who prefer another editor (such as pico) may wish to edit line 58 of /usr/bin/pledit to use their favorite editor. I just happen to like vim. The three scripts are installed in /usr/bin. Installing requires administrative access, and the scripts are installed with permissions of 755 (rwxr-xr-x). To uninstall, simply remove these three files. You may elect to remove the "PLTools.pkg" file in your /Library/Receipts folder as well.
PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE COMMAND LINE TOOLS. IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH USING THE MAC OS X COMMAND LINE, THEN YOU DO NOT NEED THESE TOOLS.
Main features:
- plcat: A simple means for viewing an ASCII representation of a binary .plist file. Basically converts a binary .plist file to ASCII and displays it directly to the screen (/dev/stdout).
- plmore: A simple means for viewing an ASCII representation of a binary .plist file, one screen at a time. Similar to plcat, but "piped" to more.
- pledit: A simple means for editing binary .plist files in your favorite editor (vim, naturally!), automatically keeping a backup trail of each edit. This script temporarily converts the file to ASCII, enabling easier editing. Upon finishing your edits, the file is converted back to its original compact binary format. A complete backup trail (filename.plist.OLD, filename.plist.OLD.1, etc.) is kept for your convenience.
