It allows you to run old 3DFX-Glide games on the Macintosh by translating Glide calls to OpenGL. OpenGLide for Macintosh is released under the Gnu Lesser Public License
Enhancements:
- New rendering engine (more accurate than in 0.10.1). This allows better quality and fixes some rendering glitches such as the haze in Falcon 4.0 (which didnt show up in 0.10.1).
To get the higher quality rendering, you need a graphics card with at least 3 texture units, for example an ATI Radeon 7500. Smaller cards like NVidia GForce 2mx or ATI Rage 128 will still use the simple rendering mode, and things will continue to look like in 0.10.1. - Full Scene AntiAliasing (FSAA) for ATI chips (only in the Classic environment)
- Tweaked a code a little to gain more speed on slower systems (does anyone notice?)
- Objects in Carmageddon (and probably other games) dont loose their transparency anymore when the fog becomes thicker.
- Less white screen appearance during screen resolution changes
- Improved memory management hopefully fixes sudden exits in Falcon 4.0 that happended to some users when firing a rocket.
- Haze in Falcon 4.0 rendered correctly.
- Translucent Menu backgrounds in Tomb Raider 1 Gold.
- Translucent Lightnings in Tomb Raider 1 Gold.
- Fixed the multicolored skidmarks in Carmageddon (Splatpack)
Requirements: Mac OS X 9 or later.
Pryde Aloft
Pryde Aloft - Baloons icon set more>>
Few sights cheer me as much as hot air balloons drifting calmly across the sky. Ballooning must take a lot of skill and experience, but it looks so very free and untroubled, not to mention colorful! Until I have the opportunity to soar aloft, I shall simply have to scatter balloons across my desktop.

Doom Legacy 1.40
Doom Legacy - Mac a OSX version of this Doom port more>>
In the middle of 1997, we heard a rumour that the sources of DOOM would be released. Some months later the miracle happened: during December 1997, id Software made the full source code of DOOM public.
Think about it: Quake, DOOM, Duke Nukem ... its not the same! The gameplay, the ambiance, the design is very different. We like DOOM especially. We dont want to create another DOOM-clone with the sources.
First, well bring a lot of bug-fixes - updates - features that should have been in DOOM since the beginning.
Then, well try to refresh DOOM visual aspects so that it looks better on todays machines.
And last but not least, we will extend the engine with enhancements for map and mods creation.
This is Mac a OSX version of this Doom port with high resolutions, Glide/OpenGL support, mlook with up-and-down shooting, jumping, translucency, key bindings, 32-player TCP/IP multiplayer with player-selected names and colors, skins, true-height sprites and the ability to load outside WADs while running. Supports TeamTNTs Boom port. Currently under development.
Enhancements:
- Based on the Cocoa version of Quake from fruitz-of-dojo
- More stability improvements
- Save games & config files & screenshots stored in ~/Library/Application Support/
- FSAA via a console variable (vid_fsaa)
- WAD files in the games resources directory.
tickr for flickr 1.1
tickr for flickr - scrolls flickr search results down the desktop more>>
Ive tried to make tickr as simple to use as possible; at the most basic level, just move the mouse cursor into the tickr window, type in a tag, and wait for images to show up. Thats nice, and tags like "penguins", "fish", or "bears" can be pretty relaxing. To narrow down your search, you can add additional tags by separating the tags with spaces, e.g., "emperor penguins", "tropical fish", "koala bears". If youre looking for something that has a space in the name, such as San Francisco or jumbo shrimp, flickrs tag system works by stripping out spaces, so type "sanfrancisco" or "jumboshrimp". (Hint: its probably best to try both "san francisco" and "sanfrancisco" if you really want to see everything, because people seem to tag images both ways.)
But you probably want to know a little more about the images youre seeing, so you can point to them with your mouse and see the title the photographer gave the image, the tags which people have given the image, and the original images size in pixels. If you double-click the image, its flickr page will open in your web browser.
Enhancements:
- The position of tickrs window is now configurable. You can position the window on the right, left, or bottom sides of your desktop, and by desktop, I mean all of the displays which are connected to your Mac.
- The size of tickrs window is now configurable. Choose from Tiny, Small, Medium, and Large window sizes. tickr will scale photos appropriately for your window size. Using a smaller window size is a great way to improve performance on older Macs.
- The window level of tickrs window is now configurable. You can choose between Always in Front, Normal, or Always Behind. tickrs window can be made Semi-transparent, Mostly Transparent or Opaque (in other words, just like a normal window).
- Search types are available in Photos > Search in the main menu bar.
- Using Photos > Sort you can order your search results By Date Taken, By Date Posted, By Interestingness (the default), or By Relevance.
Adventures on Pirate Isle 1.0.6
Pirate adventure game. more>>
The adventure begins when Slash regains consciousness among the debris of his former vessel, determined to uncover the secrets of the island, its treasure, and to discover a means of returning home.
Slash is a sugar glider from the distant land of Australia. Roughly the size of a small squirrel, sugar gliders have a membranous flap of skin connecting their forepaw to their hind feet. Sugar gliders can use this layer of skin in order to glide up to 150 feet through the air, jumping from tree to tree to escape the jaws of their predators.
Our hero is a seaworthy buccaneer who wears his trusty sabre always at his side. He was a notable sailor aboard his ship, being able to leap from mast to mast seemingly without effort. During his future adventures on Pirate Isle, Slash will be able to run, jump, climb, and glide his way to and past obstacles of all kinds.
When strategic maneuvers are not an option, Slash can whip out his sabre to deal death to the most fearsome of foes. Sugar gliders love fresh fruit, so finding such items along the way can rejuvenate or even grant temporary powers to our stalwart marsupial.
Using his unique talents, his uncanny wit, and his deft swordsmanship Slash must travel deeper and deeper into Pirate Isle, avoiding natural predators such as sea gulls, giant crabs, and wild boars.

The Virtual Microscope 6.2.2
The Virtual Microscope - supports interactive viewing of high-resolution, multi-dimensional datasets from various microscopes more>>
The Virtual Microscope is a tool that supports data from a Philips Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM), and a Fluorescence Light Microscope.
Interface Controls
The interface provides a simulation of our actual microscope interface(s). Controls common to all datasets include brightness, magnification (usually up to 1800x), navigation, measurement, and annotation. SEM samples include a contrast control, and some also include a focus control.
The navigation and magnification controls allow the user to explore any point of interest on the sample. This differs from other virtual microscopes that have been produced which provide only a few hot spots that can be magnified and explored.
Focus
The focus control is a real focal plane adjustment instead of a blurring of the image. Our automated data capture software (see below) allows us to capture an arbitrary number of focal planes. Thus, the focus control on the Virtual Microscope allows the user to glide through those planes interactively, bringing items closer and farther into focus. This is particularly useful with thick specimens viewed in the SEM.
Annotations
We have included a full set of specimen annotation tools so that experts and laypeople alike can mark up the datasets for future reference. These annotations are useful for teaching details about the data, as well as for allowing teachers to ask students to identify data features as homework. The annotations can be saved and reloaded as XML files.
Automated Data Collection
It can take thousands of images to fully describe a single specimen so that the user can explore any point at varying magnifications with multiple focal planes. As a result, some our datasets are many gigabytes (GB) in size. In order to accurately and sanely collect this data, we have written various software programs that automatically control the instruments.
The Bugscope Connection
The software for our SEM is based off of a work on a previous project called Bugscope. Bugscope is an online educational outreach project that provides real-time access to our SEM over the web so that school children can look at bugs from their own backyards.
We have leveraged the remote-control software we wrote for Bugscope into an automated data-collection package for the SEM. On the Light Microscope, we are using Openlab, and will be distributing our tiling scripts in case you have a similar system.
Specimen IDs
Each Virtual Microscope specimen gets its own unique specimen identification number. For those building new samples, click the button below to generate a new specimen ID. Generated IDs expire after two months, so dont grab one until you need it. When specimens are submitted, we will verify they have a valid ID automatically.
