Gifraffiti 0.5

Gifraffiti 0.5

Gifraffiti is a useful widget designed for generating wobbling GIF images. more>>

Gifraffiti 0.5 is a useful widget designed for generating wobbling GIF images.

Drawn strokes are converted to an animated GIF by clicking the "Anim" button. These funny GIFs can be saved to your desktop by drag-and-drop. Generated images are written in standard GIF file format and you can publish them on your website or see them in your web browsers.

Instructions:

  • You can draw line strokes in the white canvas using mouse dragging. Line color can be changed with clicking left panel.
  • White color line is not white-colored-line but eraser. Lines crossed with a eraser track are erased. Part of lines are not erasable because of widget architecture (the minimum unit is a trajectory).
  • When your drawing is completed, the drawing is converted to animated GIF by pushing "Anim" button. The motion is stopped by 'Stop" button.
  • Animated GIFs are draggable. When you drag an image out of the widget, you can drop the image to an application or desktop.
  • From version 0.2 shortcut keys are available, Cmd+Z (undo), Shift+Cmd+Z (redo), Cmd+G (make/stop animation)
  • Even if you are not good at drawing, tracing mode will help you to enjoy animated GIF. Select transparency of the canvas by back panel from 'opaque' to 'transparent'. Move transparent canvas to a desktop image and draw tracing images on it.
Enhancements:
  • Support for Intel Macs using the universal binary plug-in.
  • Improved efficiency and quality of GIF images.
  • License to be followed is changed to GPL version 2 because the plugin utilizes GD library to output GIF images. (Archived source codes of the plugin is included in the package folder of the widget as 'GifraffitiPlugin.zip'.)
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Thunderbird Biff 2.1.9

Thunderbird Biff 2.1.9

Thunderbird Biff is designed as an add-on offering a visual indicator of new Thunderbird mail availability in supported clients (Firefox, Sunbird) and Thunderbird itself. more>>

Thunderbird Biff 2.1.9 is designed as an add-on offering a visual indicator of new Thunderbird mail availability in supported clients (Firefox, Sunbird) and Thunderbird itself.

Note: you MUST install this add-on in BOTH Thunderbird and supported clients as there are both client AND server portions which communicate via a TCP/IP socket.

Major Features:

  1. PLATFORMS:
The producer has personally tested version 2.1.x of this add-on only under Windows 2000 and XP Pro. Several users have informed me that the 1.x and 2.x versions also work on some linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, etc) and some MAC OS. So this version may work on those platforms as well - please let me know what you find. I have tested this add-on using the following Thunderbird email account types: pop3, IMAP, and those employing the webmail add-on.
  2. RATIONALE:
    • Having recently switched from the Mozilla Suite to Firefox/Thunderbird, I missed some aspects of the integration between browser and email. I could not find an existing add-on to show a prominent visual indicator that new mail is ready (even if not automatically downloaded).
    • Thunderbird shows a popup message when mail is ready. But the popup may be shown and not seen. I also auto-hide my windows task bar so the tray icon is not always visible. Also, since I do not automatically download new messages, I am not always aware that new mail is waiting to be downloaded.
  3. DETAILS:
    • After a default installation, a new icon is added on the right side of the status bar in Thunderbird and supported clients. Icon tool tips are provided. In Firefox and Sunbird, you may left-click the icon to start/show the Thunderbird. Note: use of the left click feature only makes sense if both Firefox/Sunbird and Thunderbird are meant to be used on the same computer (see the thunderbirdbiff.hostname option below). In all applications, a right-click of the icon will display the version of this add-on.
    • If the client application is started prior to starting Thunderbird, this add-on will show an unplugged cable icon. When Thunderbird is running, you should see either a plain mail icon or a mail icon with a flashing green arrow (new mail). In case of error, an "X" icon is shown.
  4. OPTIONS:
The following options/preferences can be specified via this add-on's Options panel (or via the application's Config Editor):
    • Thunderbirdbiff.hostname - each client will look for a Thunderbird server on the computer with the name specified in this string option. By default the value is "localhost", the same machine on which the client application runs. The name/IP address of a reachable, remote computer may be specified if the client application is running on a machine other than the one which runs Thunderbird. It is a good idea to try to ping the hostname you plan to specify to be sure the computer is "reachable". This option is used only by client installations. If specified in Thunderbird, it is ignored.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.port - all clients and the Thunderbird server MUST agree on the TCP/IP port via which communication will occur. By default this add-on uses the TCP/IP port 25501. You may change this integer option to a value greater than 1023 if you find the default port setting blocked or otherwise in use.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.intervalSeconds - each client installation will poll the Thunderbird server to check for the presence of new mail at an interval specified by this integer option. 10 seconds is the default and the minimum value permitted. This option is used only by client installations. If specified in Thunderbird, it is ignored.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.useAnimation - by default, this add-on uses an animated gif to yield a "flashing arrow" effect when new mail arrives. It is possible that animated gifs may be blocked or otherwise disabled on your computer and prevent the new mail icon from being displayed properly. By toggling the default setting of this boolean option from "true" to "false", the animated gif will be replaced with a static image.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.position - by default, this add-on will place its icon on the right of the application's status bar. Toggling this string option's value from "right" to "left" will allow you to change the icon's position. Unfortunately, different add-ons contend for these highly desired locations on the status bar and there seems to be no way to warranty that your choice will be strictly respected after all add-ons have been loaded.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.startupEmail - this client-side boolean option (false by default) will, if enabled, cause the add-on to attempt to automatically start the default email tool (hopefully Thunderbird) on the local computer. If the email tool is already started, it should be shown. This option only makes if "thunderbird.hostname" is set to point at the local system.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.emailPath - this client-side string (empty by default) specifies the fully qualified path to your Thunderbird executable. On Mac, this should be your Thunderbird.app bundle. Note: a restart of the application is NOT required when changing the above option settings. New option settings take effect immediately.
    • Thunderbirdbiff.logToFile - by default, this option is "false" and no verbose logging is sent to a file as the number and size of these files can grow large rapidly. So this option should be enabled only for debugging purposes. By toggling this boolean option to "true", detailed logs will be created. Changes to this option require a restart of the application. The add-on's Options panel displays the directory where log files will be stored. Log file names begin with thunderbirdbiff and are suffixed with the Mozilla application name (firefox, sunbird, thunderbird). A new log file is created each time an application is started.
  5. OTHER:
    • Because this add-on makes use of TCP/IP sockets for communication, problems can arise if your firewall is not properly configured. If you have installed this add-on in Thunderbird and Thunderbird is running but your client installation shows only the unplugged cable icon, then be sure to check your firewall settings (after first confirming that the thunderbirdbiff.port and thunderbirdbiff.hostname options are properly set).
    • Some Thunderbird settings can affect the behavior of this add-on:
      • Tools|Account Settings|Server Settings|Check for new messages every X minutes MUST be enabled. This add-on's results are triggered by the same mechanism through which the built-in Thunderbird biff is triggered. However, the built-in Thunderbird biff does not need to be enabled for this add-on to function. But if Thunderbird is not set to check for new messages on at least one account, do not expect to see much value in this add-on.
      • Only IMAP and POP3 accounts are checked for new mail arrival. RSS and Newsgroup accounts are ignored.
Enhancements:
  • Support for Polish (pl-PL) localization thanks to Leszek (teo) Zyczkowski at BabelZilla.
  • Support for Simplified Chinese (zh-CN) localization thanks to Feng Chao at BabelZilla.
  • Support for German (de-DE) localization thanks to Sportsman79 at BabelZilla.
  • Preliminary support for TB 3 (beta 1).
  • Support for FF 3.5.

QMedia 1.5.2

QMedia 1.5.2

QMedia is the plug-in that allows 4D applications to include, play back, edit and integrate tightly with all digital media types supported by QuickTime, Apples award-winning, industry standard, more>>

QMedia 1.5.2 is considered as an effective plug-in that allows 4D applications to include, play back, edit and integrate tightly with all digital media types supported by QuickTime, Apple's award-winning, industry standard, multimedia technology. QMedia broadens the spectrum of applications that 4D developers can address by transforming 4th Dimension into a multimedia container and content development environment. Applications written with QMedia can be deployed accross platforms, as well as in heterogeneous client-server configurations.

Major Features:

  1. Embed multimedia in your forms: Play back in 4D forms or external windows all QuickTime-supported media (still images, standard movies, VR movies, animated GIFs, sounds, music, MIDI, MPEG on Mac, etc). Control the visibility of the movie area and of the movie controller (in whole or in parts). Detatch the movie from its controller, and place each independently inside the plug-in area. Configure the area for movie editing, looping, keystroke handling and drag and drop to the Macintosh desktop. With QMedia 1.5 you can also get audio metering information and display custom sound level indicators.
  2. Handle user and QuickTime events: QMedia gives programmatic access to many user events and QuickTime events through callback methods. Trap specific event types, examine event-specific properties, take some action, and finally decide and tell QuickTime if it should handle the event or not. Some of the things you can do with event handlers are:
    • Trap mouse clicks. The user will not be able to start or stop the movie with the mouse.
    • Track the custom button of the movie controller. When the mouse moves over a hot spot in a VR movie, search the database for information related to the hot spot.
    • Track user navigation history in a multinode VR movie and use it to populate a popup menu. The user can go back to already visited nodes by selecting from the history popup menu.
  3. Access movie properties down to track level: Get and set numerous movie properties like volume, rate, duration, time scale, movie preview, poster frame, annotations etc. Access and modify movie tracks and track properties (create, delete, enable/disable, track volume, duration, graphics mode, transformation matrix, etc.)
  4. Control VR movies: Fully integrate virtual reality (VR) movies in your database. Change pan, tilt and field of view angles, and other properties. Get node and hotspot information. Use event handling to create database-driven VR tours of museums, buildings, collections etc.
  5. Publish database data with QuickTime: Add media to movies: add pictures and image files to video tracks, text to text tracks to generate movies out of database data. For example, create a slide show of your annual report charts, publish your photo album database to a movie, add scrolling banners with styled, anti-aliased, drop-shadow text to your 4D forms. Additional support for text includes searching in text tracks and adding "chapter list" tracks to movies.
  6. Media conversion and compression: QMedia includes commands for converting media formats with QuickTime's movie import and export components. Convert media files to movie files and export movies (or tracks thereof) to media files. Re-compress video and sound in movie tracks using the growing list of QuickTime codecs (Cinepak, Animation, Motion JPEG, Sorenson video, etc.)
  7. Prepare movies for Internet delivery: Preparation of a movie for publishing on the world wide web is done with three lines of code. QMedia creates single-fork, self-contained, fast-start movies that stream when served to the browser QuickTime plug-in.
  8. Capture audio and video using the sequence grabber: The QuickTime sequence grabber does frame grabbing from any media source that can be connected to your Mac or PC computer and has a QuickTime driver. Such media sources include video cameras, digital cameras, sound, music and text sources, etc.

Enhancements:

  • Fixes all bugs that have been reported or discovered so far.

Requirements

  • MacOS X (Tiger or later)
  • Windows (XP/Vista)
  • Be compatible with 4D versions 2004.x to 11.x SQL or later.

PushPad is a very useful site templete with a simple frame-based way to organize your web site into a small customizable console. more>>

PushPad 1.2 is a very useful site templete with a simple frame-based way to organize your web site into a small customizable console. It's for those of you who dabble in html and can create simple gifs. Go ahead and add in your own logos, banners and content.

The PushPad console uses a smaller window than most other sites out there. But that's the idea ... not to fill up the computer screen with tons of text or images...like a pda. This console approach works well for personal or gallery web sites. To keep the navigation simple, it's limited to 7 Main buttons and up to 8 Softkey numbered sublinks for each Main Button. Thats up to 56 pages! Numbers are used for the bottom sublinks to make it easier for updating your template, but feel free to change those images if you want...ie. letters, small words or icons.

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9

MNG Player 1.0b1

MNG Player 1.0b1

MNG Player - Simple player for Multiple-image Network Graphics more>>
MNG Player is a simple player application for the new MNG (Multiple-image Network Graphics) animation format.

The MNG format takes the popular PNG image format, and uses it as the basis for an animation format. Roughly speaking, MNG is to PNG as Animated GIFs are to ordinary GIFs.

The MNG compression scheme is particularly well-suited for synthetic image sequences, particularly screen-captures. This makes it ideally suited as a replacement for the much less efficient Animation and Graphics codec which are currently used by QuickTime. The compression achieved by MNG for screen-capture sequences is typically a factor of 5 to 10 times better than the Animation codec, with no loss in quality.

Most of the spec is supported, with the following exceptions:
• There are issues with colour-matching using sRGB chunks.
• Alpha support on JNG images is not complete.
