Gazebo 0.8 Pre3

Gazebo 0.8 Pre3

Open source 3D multiple robot simulator with dynamics more>> Open source 3D multiple robot simulator with dynamics

Gazebo is a multi-robot simulator for outdoor environments. Like Stage, it is capable of simulating a population of robots, sensors and objects, but does so in a three-dimensional world.
Gazebo can help you generate both physically plausible interactions between objects (it includes an accurate simulation of rigid-body physics) and realistic sensor feedback.
The Player/Stage project provides two multi-robot simulators: Stage and Gazebo. Since Stage and Gazebo are both Player-compatible, client programs written using one simulator can usually be run on the other with little or no modification.
The key difference between these two simulators is that whereas Stage is designed to simulate a very large robot population with low fidelity, Gazebo is designed to simulated a small population with high fidelity.
Thus, the two simulator are complementary, and users may switch back and forth between them according to their needs.

Main features:
- Simulation of standard robot sensors, including sonar, scanning laser range-finders, GPS and IMU, monocular and stereo cameras.
- Models for commonly used robot types such as the Pioneer2DX, Pioneer2AT and SegwayRMP.
- Realistic simulation of rigid-body physics: robots can push things around, pick things up, and generally interact with the world in a plausible manner.
- Player compatible: robots and sensors can be controlled through standard Player interfaces.
- Stand-alone operation: programs can interact directly with the simulator (i.e., without going through Player) using libgazebo (included in the distribution).
- New Stereo camera model: generates stereo image pairs, disparity and depth maps.
- New Completely re-written GUI using wxPython: most devices can now be directly controlled/inspected through the simulator GUI.
- New Plugin models: users can develop their own robot/sensor models, and have these models loaded dynamically at run time.
- New Skins: simple geometric models may be augmented with realisitc skins from 3D modelling programs.

Enhancements
- Selectable and movable models.
- Saving world files
- Improved gui with multiple cameras
- 2D map extruder
- Lots of bug fixes and patches

CamSketchpad dev 1

CamSketchpad dev 1

A 2D drawing / CAD program with support for geometrical constraints and the inclusion of instances referencing other drawings more>>
CamSketchpad is a modern recreation of Ivan Sutherlands seminal Sketchpad program. Its a 2D drawing / CAD program with support for geometrical constraints and the inclusion of instances referencing other drawings.
CamSketchpad was written as a group project for the Cambridge University computer science undergraduate course by a team of seven people: Tom Botterill, Matthew Brown, Tom Craig, Easlyn Kirupairajah, Amit Sarna, Andrew Smee and myself.
Most of my work was on the constraint satisfaction algorithm, which took perhaps 200 hours of staring at error gradient maps, and imbued me with an enormous respect for Sutherland, whose version of Sketchpad performed as well on 60s hardware as ours does on modern computers.
CamSketchpad isnt complete and efficient as the original Sketchpad, but it does have all the necessary components in a rudimentary form, and is finished enough to be usable. So weve decided to release it as open source under the BSD licence, so we or others are free to tinker with it and improve its algorithms and user interface.
Main features:
- Support for containing instances of other drawings in your drawings. Unlike copies, instances will change when the original drawing changes.
- Highlighting system for displaying what will be selected / snapped to / merged / created when you click.
- Very simple interface for creating new constraints - just write a function telling CamSketchpad how far away it is from satisfying the constraint. (So when the function returns 0, the constraint is entirely satisfied.)

Getfem++ 3.0

Getfem++ 3.0

Getfem++ focuses on the development of a generic and efficient C++ library for finite element methods elementary computations more>>
The Getfem++ project focuses on the development of a generic and efficient C++ library for finite element methods elementary computations. The goal is to provide a library allowing the computation of any elementary matrix (even for mixed finite element methods) on the largest class of methods and elements, and for arbitrary dimension (i.e. not only 2D and 3D problems).
Getfem++ offers a complete separation between integration methods (exact or approximated), geometric transformations (linear or not) and finite element methods of arbitrary degrees. Getfem++ is able to really relieve a more integrated finite element code of technical difficulties of elementary computations.
Examples of available finite element method are : Pk on simplices in arbitrary degrees and dimensions, Qk on parallelepipeds, P1, P2 with bubble functions, Hermite elements, Argyris element, elements with hierarchic basis (for multigrid methods for instance), discontinuous Pk or Qk, XFem, vectorial elements (RT0, Nedelec) ...
The addition of a new finite element method is straightforward. Its description on the reference element must be provided (in most of the cases, this is the description of the basis functions, and nothing more). Extensions are provided for Hermite elements, piecewise polynomial, non-polynomial and vectorial elements, XFem.
The library also includes the usual tools for finite elements such as assembly procedures for classical PDEs, interpolation methods, computation of norms, mesh operations (including automatic refinement), boundary conditions, post-processing tools such as extraction of slices from a mesh ...
Getfem++ can be used to build very general finite elements codes, where the finite elements, integration methods, dimension of the meshes, are just some parameters that can be changed very easily, thus allowing a large spectrum of experimentations.
Getfem++ has no meshing capabilities (apart regular meshes), hence it is necessary to import meshes. Imports formats currently known by getfem are GiD , GmSH and emc2 mesh files. However, given a mesh, it is possible to refine it automatically.
Enhancements:
- The getfem and gmm header files have been moved into their respective subdirectories. So, as a consequence, the include directives have to be updated:
- #include gmm_xxx.h should be replaced with #include gmm/gmm_xxx.h
- #include getfem_xxx.h should be replaced with #include getfem/getfem_xxx.h
- The getfem interface (python and matlab) is now included in the getfem tar.gz file, in the interface subdirectory. They can be enabled with the --enable-python or --enable-matlab switch of the configure script
- Some C1 composite elements have been added (triangles and quadrilaterals)
- Levelset support has been improved
