A modular software framework for phylogenetic analysis and visualization. Existing phylogenetic software can be split into two groups. Algorithmic packages that provide computational methods for a specific problem, and visualization tools to analyze results. Many algorithmic tools lack in usability, as they are often command line based, while visualizations often suffer from poor graphical user interfaces. EPoS fills this gap by combining a powerful graphical user interface with a plugin system that allows simple integration of new algorithms, visualizations and data structures. EPoS currently supports distance based tree construction from multiple sequence alignments and distance matrices as well as different algorithms to create consensus trees and supertrees. EPoS also integrates a tree visualization module that can be used to compare two trees and export visualizations.

Cartographer uses translucent shapes to represent the regions in the image which link to different web pages or web sites.
Few tasks are more tedious when designing a website than setting up image maps. Image maps break a picture down into regions which, when clicked, send the user to a new page on your site. However, to make proper maps one must insert shapes into the picture using coordinates - a frustrating job by any measure.
Cartographer exists to fill this gap. While currently in beta, Cartographer is designed to break down the image map creation process to a more intuitive, graphical solution. Simply drag and drop your translucent shapes across the image and preview your code as you build the map. Making maps has never been simpler!

Now, rather than have one hour-long CD track, I would open them in Sound Studio, break them up into 3 sessions (divided at their 17-minute breaks), save them as separate AIFF files and record them to CD with Toast. This took a lot of manual work.
However, I recently discoveredafter downloading an audio book and writing it to CDthat iTunes would break the book into separate tracks by chapter when burning to CD (Im using iTunes 5).
So I discoverd Apples ChapterTool. This will allow a person to make chapters in my M4A files (the format I use to record the radio shows with Audio Hijack Pro).
And I also discovered the Join Together script, which I used to figure out how to send a command to the Terminal to run ChapterTool. (I am lost when it comes to the Terminal. I can change directories, but thats about it.)
So what I did was create an XML file (which ChapterTool uses to get the info on where to put the chapters in the audio file). Because I dont know where the breaks in the program will be some NPR programs break at the 17-minute mark, others vary sightlyI decided just to break them up into 10-minute increments. This allowed me to use a standard XML file for every program.
I then created the script Chapterize (some sections leveraged from the Join Together script).
Chapterize is a small AppleScript that adds chapters to M4A(AAC) files.
The script runs from within Audio Hijack Pro, but you could change it so it runs when you drop a file on it.
The ChapterTool folder and the XML file are both in the Music folder (thats where the script looks for them - you will have to change it so your XML file has the same name as what is in the script).
It saves a new, chapterized copy of the Audio file with _CHP added at the end, in the same folder as the original.
Since each Audio file may take a minute or two to process, I added the say commands so I could get an audio update of what is going on.
It also beeps 3 times and opens the destination folder when it is done.
I just ran this on 20 files and it worked great. I then imported one into iTunes and burned it and it worked - there were 6 files on the CD. One thing I need to remember though, is to set the Gap Between Songs in iTunes burning preferences to None since the gap may end up in the middle of a word or sentenceI dont want a 2-second gap in between the tracks.

You just need to select a file from some directory using the menu similar to Midnight Commander, and MOC will start playing all files in this directory beginning from the chosen file. There is no need to create play lists like in other players.
If you want to combine some files from one or few directories on one play list, you can do this. The play list will be remembered between runs or you can save it as an m3u file to load it whenever you want.
Need the console where MOC is running for more important things? Need to close the X terminal emulator? You dont have to stop playing - just press q and the interface will be detached leaving the server running. You can attach it later, or you can attach one interface in the console, and another in the X terminal emulator, no need to switch just to play another file.
MOC plays smoothly, regardless of system or I/O load because it uses the output buffer in a separate thread. It will not cause gaps between files, because the next file to be played will be precached while playing the current file. Internet stream (Icecast, Shoutcast) are supported. Key mapping can be fully customized.
Supported file formats are: mp3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Musepack, Speex, WAVE, AIFF, AU (and other less popular formats supported by libsndfile. New formats support is under development.

It's main purpose is to fill the gap in Macintosh JPEG viewers which can view full sized JPEG images while maintaining reasonable memory and speed requirements. It was also made to be useful as a helper application in Netscape or any other web browser application that supports helpers.
In addition to having more images open at once, Jade can also view JPEG images at their full size; all you really need is the disk space.
Jade is also fast at JPEG decompression. Jade offers various display modes which alows you to tradeoff image quality for speed. The only exception is when color quantization is used (when the monitor can only display 256 colors or less). But when it's not used it really flies; especially on a Powermac.
