I just finished up my 10th month here at Full Sail in my Interactive Media Design (IMD) class. This page is to showcase my final project for this class. IMD was a 2 month class, and the 2nd months project was to make an interactive game. Some specific requirements were given, but for the most part we had free reign on what we wanted to make.

One of my favorite games I remember playing in the arcade and on my NES was Galaga, so I decided to make a sequel to that game by having the same basic gameplay but with much better graphics.

Mathematical symbols on discarded pegs affect the players score.
The back side of Peg Game mini tracks the "Best Scores" for Completed Games (where only one peg remains) and Stalemated Games (where more pegs remain, but no moves are possible).
Peg Game mini allows you to ignore the mathematics altogether (except for the symbols) and play plain, old-fashioned Peg Solitaire.
Enhancements:
- Shift-click to minimize.

Pac the Man 4.5.1 is a free game including nice graphics close to the original ones and good music.The gameplay is equal to the original: Escape the ghosts and eat the pellets. Super pellets give you time to catch the ghosts. Pac the Man is a simple Pacman clone for the Mac.

Arcade Invaders 1.1 is a very interesting freeware game which is very easy to play.

Major Features:

1. It's basicly 'space invaders' but with an own gameplay.
2. You can catch new weapons like double shots and laserbeams !
3. And you can collect bonus items to restore your shield and receive bonuspoints.

Backgammon Deluxe 1.0 is an attractive and fun game developed specially for MAC with lively design, Emotidoll technique, GameSmith compatability, and the great gameplay you come to expect from Freeverse board games, Backgammon Deluxe makes a great addition to your games folder. (Single player games against an AI will be available in Backgammon Deluxe 2.0, available within the next few months as shareware.)

This is a Mac OS X Dashboard widget based on the Def Logic game, Defense Unit by Brent Silby. It is a fast paced arcade game in which you control a turret and need to shoot down space ships, tanks, and more. There are multiple levels, all of which have bosses, new enemies are brought into almost every level, and its always full of fast paced action.
Main features:
- A fast paced arcade game with multiple levels and enemies.
- A large gameplay space so that no detail is sacrificed, but a minimize/maximize button so that it almost disappears when it is not in use.

The Restaurant Game is a research project at the MIT Media Lab that will algorithmically combine the gameplay experiences of thousands of players to create a new game.

In a few months, we will apply machine learning algorithms to data collected through the multiplayer Restaurant Game, and produce a new single-player game that we will enter into the 2008 Independent Games Festival.

The Restaurant Game is a greta oportunity because every player will be credited as a Game Designer. Its never been easier to earn Game Designer credentials!

All contributions are not equal, however. Designers will be ranked based on how well they play their assigned roles, and accomplish their objectives. There will be only one Lead Designer.
Remaining credits will be divided into Game Designers and Assistant Game Designers, and within each category individuals will be ranked according to the quality of their performance(s).

Quality will be determined computationally, based on a number of factors.

The Restaurant Game takes about 10 minutes to play. It is a two-player game that will automatically find partners for players once you join a server. You are welcome encouraged to play multiple times.

In order for this project to be at all successful, we will need to collect a lot of data -- data from over 1,000 10,000 gameplay sessions. Play early, play often, and please spread the word!

This project attempts to address two frustrations I experienced as a professional game developer.
1) Convincing human social behavior is difficult to model with existing hand crafted AI systems.
2) Play testing by people outside of the development team typically comes too late to have a major impact on the final product.

This experiment aims to generate AI behaviors that conform to the way players actually choose to interact with other characters and the environment; behaviors that are convincingly human because they capture the nuances of real human behavior and language.
