Battle for Wesnoth 1.7.3 is an interesting game in which players can carry over and gain experience between scenarios.
Both single player campaigns and multiplayer games are supported. This game is currently being actively developed, but is already at in a highly playable state. Although cross platform in nature, great effort is being put into making the application as Mac-like as possible on this platform.
Enhancements:
- A new Development release is ready. This is the fourth release in the 1.7.x tree. This release includes hundreds of changes. Some of the most significant changes and improvements are listed in this forum thread.
- As with the last releases, two versions of changelogs will be offered: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache...
- At the moment the Windows package and the MacOSX packages are ready. You can find them at the download page. Once the others are done you can find them at the download page, too. Please keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite many bugs. If you find one, report it.
Requirements:
- Linux
- Windows (223.0MB)
- MacOSX (242.0MB)
- and more.

Permissions Reset 1.0 is a useful program created to handle one of the most serious problems with Mac OS X computers - permissions problems.
Permissions Problems range from not being to save your own work into your Documents folder, not being able to update files that others have sent you - all the way to applications not working correctly or even crashing!
Permissions are a security mechanism that can control how you and others interact with files. Sometimes these permissions get incorrectly set, or messed up and then the pain begins.
Major Features:
- Permissions Reset, will reset the permissions on anything! be it a disk, folder, application or simply a document, and it's easy to use and operates fast.
- All you need to do is drag the offending file, folder or application in the Permissions Reset window and hit the "Reset" button. Problem solved.
- The advanced section of the Permissions Reset makes it easier to understand the permissions of files, the permissions section of Get Info within the Finder is baffling to many and useless to most.
Folding@home Screensaver 5.02
Folding@home Screensaver - distributed application screensaver more>>
What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease? Proteins are biologys workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery.
Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimers, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntingtons, Parkinsons disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.
You can help by simply running a piece of software. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project -- people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer makes the project closer to our goals.
Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems thousands to millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.
Text Trix
Text Trix is a one-stop tool chest of text tools more>>
Whether youre toolin or foolin, were here to make your day.
Armed with more and more features in the "text tool chest" and its growing base of plug-ins, or "trix and tools," we hope youll find Text Trix increasingly useful in managing large amounts of text in no time. Lets get installin!
Enhancements:
- Our v.0.5.1 release of Text Trix is the first bug-cruncher in our new FRIENDS (Family of Really Innovative ENDS) series. Our goal in this series is to get serious about making friends of Text Trix. Were seeking to create a family of plugins that will be a one-stop resource, and "end" to your search for text tools that make your typing easier. Or an "end*s*," cuz with Text Trix, the family keeps growing, and the trix never end!
- Of course, to build a family, we need a solid home to house it. This release focuses on crunching a few bugs in Text Trix itself as well as a couple of its plugins. Notable behind-the-scenes fixes include removal of a couple start-up errors you reported on some platforms. The new Song Sheet plugin also has a few tweaks to work with a wider variety of text formatting.
- Every house needs an exterminator...but soon well need a decorator! Weve blasted a few bugs here, and now were looking for new decor. If you have ideas for a plugin or would like to write your own, please dont hesitate to post one. We look forward to your joining the family!
rb-appscript 0.5
rb-appscript gives a tool to monitor scriptable Mac OS X applications applying ordinary Ruby scripts. more>>
rb-appscript 0.5 gives a tool to monitor scriptable Mac OS X applications applying ordinary Ruby scripts. Appscript makes Ruby a serious alternative to Apples own AppleScript language for automating your Mac.
Simple all-in-one binary installers are provided for Apple-installed Ruby 1.8 on Mac OS 10.4.x, and source files are included for installing appscript on other OS/Ruby versions. Example scripts, documentation and tutorial are also included.
Enhancements:
- OSAX module no longer errors on import in 10.5 if a ScriptingAdditions folder (e.g. ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions) doesn't exist
- added Appscript: Application#is_running method
- added hfs_path, #hfs_path methods to MacTypes: Alias, MacTypes:FileURL; existing path, #path methods now use CFURL functions to convert between POSIX paths and URLs
- aem/appscript now raises Connect: CantLaunchApplicationError instead of AE:MacOSError if unable to launch an application. Users should update existing code as necessary.
- fixed extconf.rb so that universal binaries build correctly
- built-in help system now uses ASDictionary 0.9.0+ instead of AppscriptHelpAgent. (AppscriptHelpAgent is no longer used as-of rb-appscript 0.5.0 and may be removed if previously installed.)
- #help method now writes messages to stderr instead of stdout
- Appscript: Reference#respond_to? now has identical signature to Object#respond_to? (optional second argument was previously missing)
- fixed bug in AE.convert_long_date_time_to_unix_seconds (used to unpack AEDescs of typeLongDateTime) where it would crash if passed a FixNum instead of a BigNum
- now allow methods that have been added to Object class at runtime (e.g. importing the pp module adds #pretty_print and #pretty_inspect) to be invoked on Appscript:Reference and Appscript:Application instances, assuming that the reference object doesnt already have a property/element/command by the same name. In other words, instances of these classes now behave more or less the same as instances of ordinary subclasses that use bound methods rather than #method_missing to handle incoming messages. Previously, calling (e.g.) #pretty_inspect on an appscript reference would result in a property/element/command not found error.
- improved behaviour of Appscript:Application#AS_new_reference when argument is nil (now returns a new reference to the root application object)
- OSAX:Application initialiser now optionally accepts static terminology glue module as its second argument. This is partly to provide scripts that need to run in 64-bit processes with a workaround for accessing the OSAX module, which cant yet automatically obtain osax terminology under 64-bit (see TODO file).
- added process_exists_for_path?, process_exists_for_pid?, process_exists_for_url?, process_exists_for_desc? class methods to AEM: Application
- deprecated AEM:Application.is_running? (will be removed in 1.0.0); any existing code that uses this method should be updated to use AEM: Application.process_exists_for_path? instead
- fixed minor formatting flaw in generic references #to_s method
- AEM:Application is now a subclass of AEMReference: Base, allowing aem Codecs instances to pack it
- added AB_export_vcard.rb sample script
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.3 or later
- Ruby 1.8 or later.
