PowerSchool offers an excellent student information system, but when importing student data from a text file, it, as one would expect, overwrites current values with the new values.

You may not want this when importing student standardized test scores into custom fields because you want to only see their highest value (such as S.A.T. scores).

Best Test solves this dilema. You export the current custom fields value from Power School, import those as well as the new test scores into Best Test, and it will create a new importable text file, selecting the higher of the two scores.

Best Pair II is a port of Jim Burrows BestPair DOS program for Macintosh and Windows computers. It is designed to select the "best" pair of alignment stars for performing a 2-star alignment of a Meade LX200 Classic telescope (or any Meade telescope that uses the AutoStar computer controller) in Alt-Azimuth mode.
The application looks at the pointing errors involved with performing an alignment with each pair of Meades choice of 33 stars (or 78 in the case of AutoStar), examining only those that will be visible at the place and time specified. The pair of stars chosen is that with the smallest error.
Best Pair II finds the best pair of alignment stars for performing a 2-star alignment.
Enhancements:
- Fixes to handle European number/date format. This does not affect anyone using US or English number formats.
- Fix to handle fractional UTC offsets. This does not affect anyone with a UTC offset of a whole number of hours.
- Some very minor cosmetic tweaks. Unless you are affected by the above changes, there is no need to upgrade from V 1.2.

The GL Screensavers package contains 5 OpenGL 3d screensaver modules ported to Mac OS X from the XScreenSaver distribution. To install them, open the "Modules" folder in the disk image and copy the files in that folder to the "Screen Savers" folder in the "Library" folder of your home directory. (Create the "Screen Savers" folder if it does not exist). After you do this, the screensavers should appear in the "Screen Saver" pane in System Preferences. Additionally, all the screensavers have been verified to run well in SaverLab. For best results, Mac OS X 10.1 or later and an OpenGL accelerated graphics card are strongly recommended.

The following is a brief description of each screensaver module:

Impossible Cage: Displays a rotating cube whose edges cross each other in a physically impossible manner.

Circuit: Displays moving and rotating electrical components such as resistors, chips, and LEDs. You can configure the number of pieces and whether they spin as they move.

Infinite Stairs: Displays and rotates a staircase whose stairs appear to be constantly ascending.

Moebius Ants: Displays a Moebius strip with ants marching on it. Configuration options allow you to display a solid or wireframe strip and to hide the ants.

Rubik: Displays a rotating Rubiks Cube which repeatedly shuffles and solves itself. You can configure the number of random moves made when shuffling, and change the size of the cube up to 8x8x8.

By default, on multiple monitor systems only the main monitor will run the screensaver; others will be blank. If you check the "Use All Screens" checkbox which appears in each of the configuration sheets, the screensavers will run on all screens. Generally you should not run on all monitors unless all of them support OpenGL acceleration.

Ask For Password is a password protection script for Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Entourage. The script provides the same level of security found in Outlook Express version 4.x. The script prompts you for a password when your emailer is launched. It also allows you to change your password and set certain characteristics of the script via a built-in user interface. The script has full support for multiple identities.
The first time the script is run (and when the Command key is held down during script startup), the script displays a settings window allowing you to configure the script options. The script optionally closes the emailers Main Window immediately at startup, leaving the contents hidden until the user enters the password correctly. When the user enteres the password correctly, the script displays the emailers Main Window and allows the user to access to the emailer.
Enhancements:
- Changed the code for opening and closing the Main window and for obtaining the current identity into raw event code. This prevents AppleScript from asking you to locate "Outlook Express" or "Microsoft Entourage" if you do not have it installed. The bad side effect of this is that you have to edit some parts of the script each time you save the script, or the script will generate errors the next time you run it. If you edit the script, please read the IMPORTANT NOTICE at the top of the script and follow the instructions for best results.
