Font Sampler is a small utility to help you view your fonts. Font Sampler allows you to view all your fonts in one big list. It supports different colors of backgrounds and text, size, your own custom phrase to view the fonts in, and the ability to underline the fonts.
Font Sampler does not show bold or italic fonts because that happens inside a typeface.
Snap To Defaults
Sometimes it is easier to start from the default black on white, size 12 setting rather than the blue and yellow size 48 setting you used when you last used Font Sampler. Since it is often easier to start from Font Samplers default settings, Font Sampler has a button that allows you to bring it to default settings.
Print Your Fonts
With the click of a button you can print off all of your fonts using the default settings. You can print them off for future reference or using the save as PDF button, you can print out what Font Sampler is displaying, send it to a client, and get some feedback.
Scroll
With Font Samplers scroll feature you can go through all your fonts, from top to bottom, without doing anything with your mouse. This allows you to concentrate on picking that right font and it can be useful when presenting to a client.
Combo Box
When you type in a phrase for Font Sampler to display, that phrase is cached in a ten item menu. If you want to access something that you used 10 minutes ago then you would simply select that item from the drop down menu.
Quick and Easy
Finding a font shouldnt be hard. It should be easy and quick. Font Sampler allows you to do just that. It gets right to the point so you can find the font you are looking for fast.
Enhancements:

When Font Alert is run it will examine your System Fonts Folder for files not on an approved list that you construct when the script is first run.
If unapproved fonts are found, the script will alert the user, displaying a list of the names of the unapproved fonts.

To allow for unattended operation, the dialog will disappear after one minute. For use with the AppleScript scheduling program Script Timer 1.2, it will return the list of unapproved fonts for logging in Script Timers log file.

NOTE: The script is intended for OS 9 only.

When The Font Chooser is opened, it discovers the fonts on your machine. You can type a single line of text into 3 different text boxes and then use a scroll bar (font fader) to move through your available typefaces.

This gives you a very quick way to compare and contrast type-faces within relative context of each other. Fonts Manager is similar to the System 7.5.x Extensions Manager, but it is more like a DeskAccessory. It allows the enabling and disabling of font suitcases and printer fonts in Sets.

It supportsexport of Sets, import of saved Sets, Balloon Help, and a Help Topics system. It works on All Macs withSystem 7.1 or later, including Mac OS 8, without modifying the Normal startup and operation of yourcomputer.

If youre having problems on your system with text appearing "garbled" as in the image on my homepage (see the "More Information" link to the right), it could be caused by corrupt font cache files.

What appears to be happening is that incorrect or corrupted encoding vector information is being used when mapping the character codes as input by your keyboard to the glyphs they represent in the problematic font.

You can run Font Cache Cleaner to purge these cache files in an attempt to restore normal behavior. If you use Font Cache Cleaner but the problem remains, then it could be caused by a font conflict or by a corrupt font. Try removing fonts to isolate the problematic fonts that are causing this behavior.

Font Gander Pro is a font utility program that allows you to preview onscreen what a font family looks like. In addition, you can print out sheets of the font family for hard-copy reference.
