Diffly 0.8.0

Diffly 0.8.0

Diffly - browse a Subversion working copy and see all the changes, across all the files more>>
Diffly is a program created in Objective-C using the delightful Cocoa framework.
Despite my inept UI design skills Cocoa allowed me to come up with something that works pretty well and, for the most part, looks quite good. Ill try and improve the look & feel in future versions.
Diffly is designed to make it easy to browse a Subversion working copy and see all the changes, across all the files.
You can filter out files you dont care about (e.g. externals) and sticky-select files for checking in. When it comes time to check in its easy to review the changes for the files you are working with and assemble a detailed commit message and check-in.
Diffly does not attempt to be a general Subversion GUI but is, instead, streamlined to make the process of browsing and committing simple, logical, and fast. It makes a good complement to a more sophisticated, but less focused, client like SvnX. I use Diffly and SvnX together but for my day-to-day work I prefer Diffly.
Main features:
- Focused around core developer workflow.
- Browse changes across an entire working copy within an integrated browser interface.
- Convenient for selecting files, browsing, creating a detailed check-in message, then committing.
- See changes in a customizable web view.
- Filters to see what you want to see: show/hide folders, externals, and unversioned files, ...
- Quick open files in FileMerge for more context.
- Jump directly from any change to its file location in TextMate
- Command line integration: diffly (I invoke it from TextMate)
- Open multiple working copies simultaneously. Remembers open browsers between invocations.
- Native MacOSX Aqua interface.
- Automatic updates using the Sparkle framework.
Enhancements:
Bug fixes:
- Fixed bug with changing svn path and stylesheet preferences
- No longer opens a copy of FileMerge for each file (thanks to Neill Bogie for the fix)
- Now issues "--diff-cmd diff" to avoid conflict with user subversion config (thanks to Benoit Gagnon for the fix)
Improvements:
- Stylesheet default font size set to 9pt (no so huge!!)
- Preserve selected items across refresh
- Will prompt with the prefs panel if the svn path is wrong at startup
- Status items get refreshed properly

ClamXav 1.0.8

ClamXav 1.0.8

ClamXav is a free virus checker for Mac OS X more>>
ClamXav is a very useful tool, a freeware virus checker for Mac OS X. It uses a slightly modified version of the tried, tested, and very popular clamav open source antivirus engine as a back-end.
Back in the days before OS X, the number of viruses which attacked Macintosh users totalled somewhere between about 60 and 80. Today, the number of viruses actively attacking OS X users is...NONE! However, this doesnt mean we should get complacent about checking incoming email attachments or web downloads, for two reasons.
Firstly, theres no guarantee that we Mac users will continue to enjoy the status quo, but more importantly, the majority of the computing world use machines running MS Windows, for which an enormous quantity of viruses exist, so we must be vigilant in checking the files we pass on to our friends and colleagues etc.
For example, if youre a wise person and youve turned MS Offices macro support off then youre not going to notice that virus which is hiding inside this months edition of Extreme Ironing.doc which your friend sent you. If you then forward that document to a less wise person who has not turned off the macro support, then you have most likely just sent him a shiny new Pandoras Box with a sign saying "Open this end"!
Flippancy aside, Im sure you get the idea: check the file before opening and/or sending it on to someone else. This gives you the opportunity to avoid the file altogether or at least copy and paste any vital information into a new document and send that instead.
Dont forget, if you run VirtualPC you can still become infected and lose valuable data on your Mac even though technically youre running Windows inside a sandbox. VPC will run any application you tell it to, virus or no virus, it doesnt know the difference. You can protect yourself slightly by not using VPCs "shared folders", but thats a useful feature which you shouldnt have to be without.
NOTE : Must NOT be installed on Mac OS X 10.4 Server.
Enhancements:
- ClamAV 0.90.3 included
- Fixed an issue causing long delays at startup if using a newer engine than the one bundled with ClamXav

FlickrGet 0.8

FlickrGet 0.8

FlickrGet - Easily get images from a Flickr set more>>
First find the set from the user you want to download; to do so just browse through the flickr site till you get to the user Set you want to download.
The URL in your web browser should be similar to this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/armadillu/sets/1335736/
Then copy this URL and paste it into FlickrGet; choose a name for your download and type in your Flickr login and password (Only non-yahoo logins work for now). You can then start the download, and all the pictures from the set will be downloaded to a folder besides the FlickrGet application.
The login and password information are optional, but some Sets are set to private so they can only be seen/downloaded if the user allows guests to see them. The photo Sets will be downloaded at the maximum available resolution, but flickr only allows this if you are logged in (and that will only happen if you put in your login and password).
Enhancements:
- First public release.

TuxBank 0.8

TuxBank 0.8

TuxBank is a simple web based application that allows you to manage your finances more>>
TuxBank is a simple web based application that allows you to manage your finances by seperating your money into virtual "accounts". It caters to small incomes. It is a simple tool that users with simple budgets can use when programs such as Quicken or GnuCash are overly complex for their budget.
TuxBank is written in php and uses mysql to store data. It is open source software licensed under the Gnu Public License. TuxBank is very much a beta program that is fairly incomplete at this time. However, I personally find it to be very usable in its current state.
TuxBanks interface uses standard compliant XHTML/CSS markup. It has only been tested using Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari, however, it should render just fine using any standards compliant browser.
Enhancements:
- You can now customize the toolbar.
- Simple Budget Helper is now included as part of TuxBank. There is now client-side form validation.
- You can now see the total amount of money per day.
- You can no longer withdraw or deposit negative amounts.
- Some more error handling was added.
- Many error messages were clarified. You can no longer name an account with only whitespace.
- A potential security hole was plugged.
- A MySQL error that would occur after a certain number of transactions was fixed.
- Minor theme changes were made.

SIMBL 0.8.1

SIMBL 0.8.1

SIMBL - Build hacks for Cocoa applications and apply the code selectively based on an applications unique identifier more>>
Problem:
Some applications do about 90% of what I want.
Solution:
Develop my own applications.
Better Solution:
Patch the application myself...
1. What It Does
SIMBL (Smart InputManager Bundle Loader) - pronounced like "symbol" or "cymbal" allows you to build hacks for Cocoa applications and apply the code selectively based on an applications unique identifier. Its not really all that smart, or even clever, but its smarter than just blindly loading code into an application.
For example, Safaris application identifier is com.apple.Safari. You can use this to prevent bundles that link against application-specific frameworks from bombing on startup when they encounter another application that does not support those libraries. You can also use the applications bundle version to further specify when your plugin should load.
2. Installing
There are two parts to SIMBL, the bundle itself, which is packaged as an InputManager, and the plugins.
Due to the limitations of Apples Installer.app, these packages install to /Library/InputManagers, though they work equally well in the user domain as well (~/Library/InputManagers). I wish Apple would provide the option for a user-specific install option, since plugins can really sneak up on an unsuspecting user.
3. How To
Once youve installed SIMBL, you need to drop some bundles into the Plugins folder. (/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins) SIMBL scans this folder for bundles each time an application launches. It will check both the Local and User domain for this special folder.
This means that it will check ~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins before looking in /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins. Additionally, SIMBL detects if you have two conflicting plugins and prevents potentially undesirable behavior by only loading one.
SIMBL plugins are nothing more than standard Cocoa bundles created by XCode, with the addition of one key in the Info.plist. For further information, you can read the SIMBL section in my brief tutorial on Cocoa hacking.
SIMBL was originally created when I was working on PithHelmet, but here are now a bunch of SIMBL plugins available. If you dont see yours listed, feel free to edit the list on the wiki.
Enhancements:
- Universal Binary.

MacFDTD 0.8

MacFDTD 0.8

MacFDTD is a silicon optics layout & simulation program more>>
Macintosh silicon layout and simulation software. Create semiconductor and optical circuit designs, and test them out before fabrication.
Main features:
- Basic layout abilites, 5-function variable equation support, and basic GDSII format exporting.
- Full support for saving and loading files associated with the .fdtd extension. This is an format Ive introduced just for this program.
- Multiple documents are working, so there can be multiple schematics being worked on at the same time.
- The best thing about the 2nd release is that both Layout Index profiles and Layout Permeability profiles are now working.
- Preliminary simulation engine, and an updated animation window.
- The simulation engine cannot yet properly support some materials and sources, and sensors are not yet implemented, so results are purely qualitative
- A new format for saving & loading simulations, note that its incompatible with the previous saved simulations.
- There is now slight support for extending simulations, so a simulation can be loaded, then pick up where you left off. This is still incomplete.
- internal changes for code maintenance and performance.
- Better support for indexes, permeabilities, conductivities, with profiles
- Snap-to-grid, and revert to selection cursor options
- Simulations can be cancelled while running
- Clipboard functionality, shape rotations, tooltips, and the duplicate & delete tools
- Full layout scripter, with no arcane typing, just an easy-to-use clickable interface
- There is a demo script hosted on the dev page
- A plugin system has been added for analyzing results, and included is a basic E-field plotter. Rest assured, I will have better plugins coming along.
Enhancements:
- Full GDSII importing support: paths!
- Exponential, not linear zooming
- Auto-fit to layout button
- Far better plugin support.

xwepgen 0.8

xwepgen 0.8

xwepgen lets Mac OS X users use WEP passphrases to connect to encrypted wireless networks more>>
xwepgen lets Mac OS X users use WEP passphrases from nearly all non-Apple 802.11b software and hardware to connect to encrypted wireless networks.

Devices connecting via encrypted 802.11b network use a WEP key to encrypt the data they send. An actual WEP key looks like: 57EAB0FF for a 40-bit (64-bit) link, and similar, though longer, for a 104-bit (128-bit) link.

However, some 802.11b hardware and software (Apple products, many Linksys, Lucent, D-Link, and other products) have the user input a passphrase instead of an actual WEP key. These products then use some algorithm to convert the passphrase to a WEP key.

The problem Mac users face is that Apples passphrase-to-key algorithm differs from the one used by most other products. Using xwepgen, Apple users can input a Linksys/DLink/Lucent/etc. passphrase, and get the WEP key to use in airport password dialogues.

xwepgen is freely ditributed under the GNU General Public License. If you have any problems or questions, visit the projects Sourceforge page or e-mail apparissus@users.sourceforge.net.

Usage:
1) Get the passphrase and encryption method (40-bit or 104-bit) from thenetwork admin. Also, if the encryption method is 40-bit, find out which WEP key (1 through 4) the network is using. If unsure, try 1 first, then try theothers.
2) Start xwepgen and enter the passphrase in the appropriate field. Click‘Generate WEP keys’.
3) Tell your Mac to connect to the network, and where it requests the ‘AirportPassword’, enter the WEP key. Make sure the wep key begins with a ‘$’. (For example, if my WEP key is 50FFA0FF, then I would enter $50FFA0FF).xwepgen inserts the ‘$’ for you by default.
4) Finally, click ‘OK’, ‘Apply’, or whatever’s appropriate, and watch in wonder asyou connect to the Linksys/D-Link/Lucent/etc. network! Enjoy.

Folx Downloader is one of the most marvelous tools which can download files via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, proxy in just several clicks at maximum speed possible. more>>

Folx Downloader 0.8.232.329 is one of the most marvelous tools which can download files via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, proxy in just several clicks at maximum speed possible.

Folx download manager features the ability to resume downloads, to schedule your downloads and set their priority, to limit download speed no matter what browser you use.

Folx can add different tags to downloaded files to make searching easy and intuitive. If you add three tags to a file, those tags will appear in all of the three folders named after those tags. Tags can be used to search for downloads via Spotlight.

Folx download manager integrates into all Mac OS browsers and captures all download links automatically. Folx can pretend to be any browser, so a user can download any file that demands a special browser.

Enhancements:
  • "Auto speed mode" added. This feature automates the process of download speed limiting. If you're surfing the web and downloading files simultaneously, the download speed is cut to a specified value, otherwise the download speed is maximum possible
  • Added the possibility to choose "Shutdown", "Sleep" or "Quit " options when "After download all tasks" or "Scheduled" options are applied
  • Added the scheduled automatic application launch and now you can easily schedule the launch of Folx in a few clicks
  • Added the possibility to start downloading without showing "New task window"
  • Some minor bugs and glitches are fixed
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
