Flying Icons is a tribute to the fantastic Aqua Icons screensaver that shipped with the original Mac OS X. In Jaguar, it was "replaced" by the also-cool Flurry saver.

Apart from the basic functionality present in Aqua Icons, Flying Icons has some additional features. It allows you to select a folder or an IconFactory iContainer as a source of icons.

In fact, for optimum performance and utility, use of an iContainer is recommended (because of less disk activity). It also features some more advanced options, that allow you to modify how the icons behave.

The maximum number of icons is 100 (in Aqua Icons it was set to 30). In addition, Flying Icons can run on two screens simultaneously. Aqua Icons only supported one screen. Of course, many of these options come with performance penalties, but should run within a few percent CPU on recent high end desktops and portables.

Main features:
- Over 20,000 real world airports included in the full scenery set.
- Correct runway markings and placement, correct runway and approach lighting.
- Taxiways available for many larger airports (even including the green center line lights when appropriate.)
- Sloping runways (runways change elevation like they usually do in real life.)
- Directional airport lighting that smoothly changes intensity as your relative view direction changes.
- World scenery fits on 3 DVDs. (Im not sure thats a feature or a problem!) But it means we have pretty detailed coverage of the entire world.
- Accurate terrain worldwide, based on the most recently released SRTM terrain data.) 3 arc second resolution (about 90m post spacing) for North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
- Scenery includes all vmap0 lakes, rivers, roads, railroads, cities, towns, land cover, etc.
- Nice scenery night lighting with ground lighting concentrated in urban areas (based on real maps) and headlights visible on major highways. This allows for realistic night VFR flying with the ability to spot towns and cities and follow roads.
- Scenery tiles are paged (loaded/unloaded) in a separate thread to minimize the frame rate hit when you need to load new areas.
Enhancements:
- New plane models, 3D clouds, volumetric shadows, seasonal terrain textures, air carrier operations, more weather effects, redout/blackout on high G loads, heat haze, and more AI capabilities were added.
- A major rework of the multiplayer code was done, with a WWW-based multiplayer server status page (based on the Google Map).
- The GUI was also reworked, and is more friendly to new users now; the ATC dialogs no longer impede flying.
- A lot of bugs were fixed.

Fade Away is a simple dessktop screensaver module for Mac OS X. It presents different color circles that grow on your desktop and then fade away.

Completly freeware for personal use.

Headings Calculator displays associated magnetic headings (45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, 315 and 360 degrees) based on user input.

I originally created this application for use while flying X-Plane (the worlds FINEST flight simulator for Mac OS and Windows).

This applications was created using RealBasic 2006 which, in my humble and inexperienced opinion, is the best rapid development environment for Mac OS.

Cyclone.saver 1.2 is designed to be a useful screensaver module for MacOS X which shows plenty of flying particles blown up by cyclones. It is based on a screensaver module for good old NeXTSTEP written by Ali Ozer and Sam Streeper.
