FileRenamer 0.98
FileRenamer - Change file names on the fly using wildcard strings more>>
There are several ways by which file names may be changed. One way is by using sequence numbers preceded with an optional string.
Another way is by using find and replace rules for unwanted strings and characters. And still another way is to write your own name changer AppleScript that FileRenamer calls. The file extensions may be changed or left alone. Written in AppleScript Studio.
Enhancements:
- Added UNDO!!! In the Preferences panel, if you check the UNDO checkbox, then an applescript is written to the folder containing the FileRenamer program which will allow you to UNDO the LAST file name change you performed - even if it was using recursion. This UNDO file only contains the LAST name changes. You will open it with the Script Editor and RUN it to perform the UNDO.

File Lister 1.0
File Lister is developed to be an easy to use utility which helps with listing files. more>>
File Lister 1.0 is developed to be an easy to use utility which helps with listing files. It has options for excluding and matching files not found in Sherlock or other search applications. File Lister could be used as a search utility, though it's main purpose is to return and save a list of files. Lists can be saved as text or html files.
Saved text file lists can be re-opened by File Lister. Saving as html is best for printing or web implementation. The html generator uses style-sheets, which make page loading faster for large lists. If the list is saved as html you have the option to link each file name to it's path on your system.
This makes all of the listed files accessible from a single page (good for an mp3 list or documents; note that long file names are not supported in IE). Other html options include: table border, cellspacing, cellpadding, html title, font, text size, text color, link color, active link color, visited link color and hover link color.

HELIOS File System Test UB is a potential and easy to use tool which can test file server compatibility.
Every Macintosh user or system administrator can easily verify in a quick and reliable way if their file server is fully compatible with Mac OS X clients. The HELIOS File System Test can examine AFP, NFS, SMB/CIFS, and WebDAV network connections. The 11 tests check for the support of file sizes exceeding 4 GB, long file names, UTF-8 compatibility, correct file access rights, as well as the consistent use of file/directory IDs. If a server fails any tests, a detailed error message explains the issues.
Folder Jumper 1.0
Folder Jumper - system enhancement that automatically jumps to specified folders as you type a file?s name more>>
To set up a destination folder and link it to a set of file names, all you have to do is to create an alias to the folder and move it to the Folder Jump Aliases folder inside your System folder.
The name of the alias is matched against user-entered file names in one of four ways: partial, exact, suffix or prefix.
The alias naming rules for each case are described in a SimpleText document named instructions thats automatically created in the Folder Jump Aliases folder when you click the Settings button in the Control Panel.
Add File Extension 1.0
Add File Extension - Select a list of files you want to convert and drop them on the magic hat icon more>>
As you begin to use your IMS computers you will probably want to transfer documents created on your Macintosh to your IMS network folder. If your file name does not include the correct three-letter file extension then your IMS computer may not know which application to use to open the file. That means you will have to select the correct application each time you open a transferred file. You can add the correct file extension for each file manually if you want to. Not a big deal for a handful of documents. But could be a real chore if you have lots and lots of files. Or you can just let this magic little application do it for you.
How does it work?
Magic of course! Just select a list of files you want to convert and drop them on the magic hat icon. Then watch it perform.
It auto-magically checks the file type and adds the correct file extension to the file name. Because some operating systems cant handle file names longer than 31 characters, it will also truncate the file name to 27 characters (the dot and the three-letter extension make it 31).
If the new 31 character file name is already used a dialog box will appear asking you to select a different name. If the name you select is already in use then the operation will stop. You will have to check your files and try again with any files that were not already converted.
What files does it convert?
It will currently work with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents; AppleWorks documents and FileMaker Pro documents. All other files will be ignored. If you have a lot of documents from another application, let me know and I will add them to the list and send you an update.

Apple File Name Encoding Repair 1.0
Apple File Name Encoding Repair is superior and tractable tool which designed specially for Mac OS 9 Finder to enter and display file names. more>>
Apple File Name Encoding Repair 1.0 is superior and tractable tool which designed specially for Mac OS 9 Finder to enter and display file names.
The Mac OS X Finder uses a worldwide standard character encoding, named Unicode, to enter and display file names. Mac OS 9 converts file names to Unicode for storage on Mac OS Extended volumes, but when the encoding differs from the system default (for example, a Japanese file name on an English system or vice versa) the conversion to Unicode can be incorrect. As a result, the file name may not display as expected. The Mac OS X File Name Encoding Repair utility will correct many of the common cases of incorrect conversion.

X29-Renamer 1.4
X29-Renamer - Truncates long OS X file names for copying to OS 9 more>>
X29-Renamer truncates long OS X file names for copying to OS 9.
At best these longer file or folder names get truncated with names ending in what is "gibberish". At worst, when attempting to copy a folder containing a few of these files with longer names, the copy will be prevented thereby requiring the user to locate the problematic files. In folders with many files this can become a time consuming task.
This simple drop application was created to take those OSX "unfriendly" long names and truncate them, including any file extension to the 31 characters that OS9 accepts. In addition, to avoid name conflicts, the program will uniquely number each file or folder before the extension up to a maximum of 999.
Just drop the folder or the files on top of the application and the rest is handled automatically. You can then be assured of no random names being generated and all files uniquely named and numbered as well. File extensions are also respected.
If you have hundreds files, the process can take a bit of time and as long as the application is running (check your DOCK) it is still doing its job although you may have full control of your mouse.
If there are any errors, a log file will be created on your desktop detailing the problem.
Enhancements:
- Corrected behavior so that any folder or file name including the extension that is under 31 characters is untouched.
