The widget allows the user to view:

- Friend, group, and detail requests

- the friends that are online
- Notifications
Using an advanced login system, errors are rare and can usually be fixed on the fly - without having to download a new version.
Enhancements
- Added options in the preferences to select what you see on the widget.

Specifically, it pulls down your friends names, emails, AIM, mobile phone number, and photo. Adds missing photos, inserts missing information, and adds missing records to your Apple AddressBook.
This is great if you use iChat or Bluetooth-sync your AddressBook with your cellphone.
Uses a learning database to translate email images into text. Unfortunately, I only trained it on three accounts, so it isnt very intelligent.
Since I didnt want people to have to deal with training their databases (read: didnt want to add that UI), it just gives up if it cant read an email address.

This widget can monitor any of the city blocks serviced by http://chicagocrime.org - one of the first Google Maps mashups. Due to the infrequent updates to the crime data, this widget caches data for a minimum of six hours, and it checks to see whether it should update automatically, when the Dashboard layer is shown.
The widget also checks network connectivity to prevent hangups.
As a Chicago resident, I find this widget to be pretty useful, and I hope that others will as well. I have a couple of improvements that I would like to make, but in the meantime, enjoy! (And I promise the widget is much better designed than this website!)
