Presentation Mode 1.0 is a full featured and advanced software which can help you give a good presentation.

The problem: Whenever you are giving presentations, the display or the machine would go to sleep on you, causing the projector to go blank. It was a pain to change the Energy Saver settings to prevent this. Even if I did remember, you often forgot to change them back to a more normal mode.

The solution: An AppleScript to wrap the UNIX "pmset" command and provide a convenient toggle between Presentation and Normal settings.

If you're giving a presentation (on power or on battery), this script sets the display and the machine to never go to sleep, but allows the disk to shut down after 10 minutes of activity and run the internal screen at a lower brightness level when you're on battery.

If you're in normal mode and running on battery, this script sets the display ot run at a lower brightness and to shut itself off after 1 minute of inactivity. The disk is shut off after 2 minutes of inactivity, and the whole machine goes to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity.

If you're in normal mode and running off of power, the script sets the display to itself off after 15 minutes of inactivity, and the disk to shut off after 10 minutes of inactivity. The system will never put itself to sleep.

All of these settings/timings are adjustable fairly easily by modifying the script. This script is most useful if you place it in the /Library/Scripts folder and use the /Applications/AppleScript/AppleScript Utility application to turn on the Script Menu in the menu bar.

Requirements:

• Mac OS X 10.4.x (May work on other versions--10.3.x or 10.5.x, but not tested. Use at your own risk.)

Monitor Mode is a simple application that shows live video from a video input device, either in a window or fullscreen.

It was intended for use with Epiphan VGA2USB devices, but also works with iSights and possibly other devices.

Together with a VGA2USB, you can use any Mac equipped with USB 2.0 as a monitor for another computer (e.g. your Linux server PC).

Apple Theater Mode Update 2.0.3 is a simple to use, yet sophisticated utility which is designed for some iMacs and on desktop Macintosh systems that have an Apple Studio Display CRT attached (with the Apple Display Connector). It brightens movie playback in some applications like iMovie and QuickTime Player.

This update resolves compatibility issues with the Theater Mode Extension for OS 9, QuickTime Player version 4.1.4 and 5.0, and the Classic environment on OS X. If you have Theater Mode 2.0 through 2.0.2 installed on your OS 9 or Classic OS X system, then you should install this update for best performance and compatibility.

Global Graphics has released a simple to use, free of charge overprint control strip for checking that proofs and prints made from files transmitted as PDF/X have rendered correctly.

The PDF/X standards are becoming increasingly popular methods of delivery of graphic arts content from one company or site to another.

A file prepared in accordance with the standards is likely to process through a prepress workflow with no errors and a more predictable result than a general PDF file.

Its worth remembering, however, that part of the reason for the predictability is that the PDF/X standards are not just file formats - they also specify correct rendering behavior of the files in the RIPs driving proofing printers, image setters and CTP devices.

The Global Graphics PDF/X overprint control strip is supplied as an EPS file that can be placed outside the trim or bleed area of a job in a design application.

When the job is later converted to one of the PDF/X conformance levels and then proofed or printed, the strip will show whether or not the rendering process in that proofing or prepress system has been configured in conformance to the PDF/X standards. It may also be placed on a press sheet by an imposition application.

By holding down the Apple key and the V key during boot your mac will display the Darwin boot messages.

Verbose makes your mac always boot into verbose mode.
