Calibre is meant to be a complete e-library solution and thus includes library management, format conversion, news feeds to e-book conversion, as well as e-book reader sync features and an integrated e-book viewer.
Major Features:
- Library Management:
- calibre is primarily a ebook cataloging program. It manages your ebook collection for you. It is designed around the concept of the logical book, i.e. a single entry in the database that may correspond to ebooks in several formats.
- calibre support sorting the books in its database by:
-
- Title
- Author
- Date
- Publisher
- Rating
- Size (Max size of all formats)
- Series
- It also supports extra metadata fields that can be searched on:
-
- Comments: A general purpose field that can be used to describe the book, add notes on it, etc.
- Tags: A flexible system to categorize books. You can tag any book with any custom tag to indicate subject, read status, category, etc.
- The database view also supports filtering by searching on the metadata. You can perform advanced searching on individual metadata fields by clicking the advanced search button to the left of the search bar.
- You can export subsets of the books in your collection by using the Save to disk button.
- You can fetch metadata from the internet for a book based on its ISBN number or its title/author, instead of manually entering the metadata. You can also fetch a cover image based on the ISBN number.
- Format Conversion: calibre supports conversion from a dozen different ebook formats to LRF and EPUB. An graphical interface to the conversion software can be accessed by clicking the "Convert E-books" button. The commandline access is via the command any2lrf and any2epub. The full list of supported formats. The conversion is very powerful and supports advanced typesetting features like tables, dropcaps, inline images, embedded fonts, etc.
- Syncing to E-reader Devices: calibre has a modular device driver design that makes adding support for different e-reader devices easy. At the moment, it has support for the SONY PRS 500/505/700, Cybook Gen 3, Amazon Kindle (1 and 2) and the iPhone (with the stanza reader software). Syncing supports updating metadata on the device from metadata in the library and the creation of collections on the device based on the tags defined in the library view. If an book has more than one format available, calibre automatically chooses the best format when uploading to the device.
- Fetching News: calibre can automatically fetch news from a number of websites/RSS feeds, format the news into a ebook and upload to a connected device. At the moment there is support for generating LRF/EPUB ebooks. The ebooks include the *full* versions of the articles, not just the summaries. Supported news sites include:

Georgia Tech Football/Basketball Schedule 2.4
A great way to have the latest football and basketball related information right on your desktop. more>> A great way to have the latest football and basketball related information right on your desktop.
Displays the following information about the football, mens basketball, or womens basketball schedule for a particular team for the selected year:
- Day/Date
- Opponent
- Time the game will be broadcast, or the outcome of the game
- Record
- TV
This widget also displays standings and (starting with version 2.3) the Sirius college game schedule for the current day or the next day games are played.
If you view conference standings, the following information is displayed:
- Team
- Conference W-L
- Team W-L
In Standings view, the next and previous buttons in the title line will cycle through all the conferences. You may also jump directly to a conference from the "Jump to Conference >> Conference Name" context menu item, which is accessed via right-clicking (Windows) or CTRL-clicking (Mac) on the widget. This menu item is only available when you are viewing the standings.
If you are in "football" view, you can use the next and previous buttons to cycle through the years. If you are in "basketball" view, the next and previous buttons cycle through the months. These buttons are hidden until the mouse rolls over the widget, so if youre wondering where they are, move your mouse over the schedule and look in the lower left (or right, depending on your logo location) of the widget.
USA Today/Coaches, AP, and BCS ranks may also be displayed for the current season only. BCS ranks, obviously, are only displayed for football.
Data is scraped from ESPN.
You may also customize your background opacity and the number of columns displayed.
Logo position and size (starting with version 2.3) are configurable. The logo can be placed at any of the corners, allowing you to align the widget against any edge of the screen.
Double-click the logo to minimize or expand the schedule. You may also click on the minus and plus images to minimize or expand the schedule.
Hovering over the logo will display the "Last Updated" time in a tooltip.
Time zone is configurable. Options include: Eastern Time (default), Central Time (Eastern Time - 1 hr), Mountain Time (Eastern Time - 2 hrs), Pacific Time (Eastern Time - 3 hrs), Alaska Time (Eastern Time - 4 hrs), and Hawaii-Aleutian Time (Eastern Time - 5 hrs). The time zone feature is geared towards U.S. time zones. Since I doubt people outside the US will run a widget that shows U.S. TV stations for an American sport, I have no plans to expand this functionality.
From the Preferences window, you can tell the widget to check for a newer version on startup. You can also check for updates by selecting "Check for newer version" from the context menu.

NHL Team Schedule 1.6.1
A great widget that allows you to see the NHL Schedule. more>> A great widget that allows you to see the NHL Schedule.
Displays either the current NHL schedule for a particular team or the upcoming NHL games for all teams for the next 1,2, or 3 days. The following NHL teams are represented:
- Anaheim Ducks
- Atlanta Thrashers
- Boston Bruins
- Buffalo Sabres
- Calgary Flames
- Carolina Hurricanes
- Chicago Blackhawks
- Colorado Avalanche
- Columbus Blue Jackets
- Dallas Stars
- Detroit Red Wings
- Edmonton Oilers

- New York Rangers
- Ottawa Senators
- Philadelphia Flyers
- Phoenix Coyotes
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- San Jose Sharks
- St. Louis Blues
- Tampa Bay Lightning
- Toronto Maple Leafs
- Vancouver Canucks
- Washington Capitals
When viewing the schedule for a particular NHL team, the data source is ESPN for games that occur in previous months-- unless that month is September. September is an exception because most (but not all) September games are Pre-Season, and ESPN doesnt carry information for pre-season games. For September, the current month, and future months, the data source can be either NHL.com, which has better television schedule information but worse information for completed games, or ESPN.com, which has better information for completed games but worse television schedule information. You may set the data source through the context menu or through the Preferences.
