xEQ - parametric EQ Audio Unit more>>
xEQ is a parametric EQ/Tone Control Audio Unit. It consists of Low and High shelf filters and three Peak/Cut filters.
It is very useful for placing around distortion effects. Place one xEQ before your distortion effect to act as a preamps tone control. Place another xEQ after your distortion effect to simulate a speaker cabinets frequency response curve. We provide some example presets that are useful starting points for tailoring your tone. Presets that start with TC are tone control curves and those marked with an SC are for speaker cabinet response curves.
Enhancements:
- The parameter and label colors can now be set by the user in the registration/preferences panel. The color settings will apply to all Twister AUs so that this only needs to be changed once.
- Weve added more options for setting parameter values. Parameter displays can be still be controlled with the big knob. But, now you can now adjust parameter settings by dragging and clicking on the parameter readout. Dragging vertically changes the value quickly and dragging horizontally changes the value slowly for finer control. The values can also be adjusted with a mouse scroll wheel by hovering over the parameter readout. Scrolling vertically gives faster change and if you have the ability to scroll horizontally (a Mighty Mouse, for example), horizontal scrolling changes the value slower for finer control.

A 3 bands semi-parametric equalizer that can be controlled as a single filter with customizable shape. It includes a low shelf filter, a high shelf filter and a boost/cut peak filter. Its wide range of gain (+/-40 dB per band) and bandwidth (.01 to 5 Octave) makes it very versatile to create any filter shape. The three filters are linked together so that when you change the center frequency or the bandwidth, the parameters of the three filters are modified accordingly: you can control the entire equalizer characteristics with a single mouse click.
The graph shows the computed frequency response of the plug-in, so that you can exactly know how your signal is processed. The controls are now directly available on the filter graph, making the design of the filter shape even easier.

They are standard issue tools for vocal ducking in radio production, to fade out music when a narrator is speaking. They are also insanely popular in dance production, able to make your whole mix "pump" or "breathe" by following a kick drum.
Unfortunately, side-chaining in software can be tricky. Some audio programs simply do not support it, others require pretty complex routing techniques.

If you use Reaktor 5 as one of your virtual instruments and you are looking for some cool sounds, you might like the MaXineDrum.
This synth-drum comes from the need of being able to tweak any parameter for each step in a sequencer.
The idea came few months ago when I was looking for a virtual drum machine. I couldnt find anything that could do the job, so I decided to build my own drum machine, and ended up with the MaXineDrum.
This knobby instrument uses a bit of CPU according to how many things are happening at once. I suggest you to use it with a low sampling rate (even for the type of sound that comes out of it). You can always use few steps and youll get a good variety of sounds as well.

windMACHINE 1.0 is a software simulating wind sounds and cries applying a MU128 midi based synth to make a beautiful but dark and erie collage of different wind sounds - from thin sounds, to low thunderous rumblings to whistling sounds, and others... But still maintaining a sense of its artificial origins. The sounds are produced by continuously manipulating reverb, EQ, and filter parameters of the MU128 with a dense stream of system-exlusive messages determined via different sets of non-linear algorithms.
This project is called windMACHINE. There are four generators at work each sending dense streams of system-ex data to the MU128 to manipulate filters, equalisation and reverb parameters. The four generators continually play a long sound (a long note every 32 seconds) and the manipulations give this sounding note the wind sound morphology. But that is only if you configure the parameters correctly else they do not sound as much like wind. So press play and switch between the voices changing parameters.

- Yamaha MU128 tone generator
- Midishare for Mac OS X, good speakers that can handle low, rumbling bass.
