DeskEffects 1.5.4 is regarded as a distinguished and tractable pane that offers users access to foreground and background desktop screen effects and offers complete priority control. Also features an option to start your favorite desktop screen effects at login.

FackBore Effects 1.0 is designed as a useful System Preferences module which allows one to select a single screen saver to run on the desktop or multiple screen savers to run in the foreground (partially transparent over the desktop). Foreground and background screensavers can be configured to automatically start at login. Source is included.

AVOID OPEN GL SCREENSAVERS IN THE FOREGROUND UNLESS YOUR SYSTEM IS QUARTZ EXTREME CAPABLE! Even with QE, screen savers in the foreground can have an extremely detrimental affect to UI responsiveness.

Recommenations: Try Plasma Tunnel, IGS Twisted, or SpiroScales in the foreground. Euphoria works great in the background. Slide shows look neat, as well.
While this is freeware, tips are appreciated.

More Ichat Effects 2.0.3 is known as a nice collection of 56 effects for iChat and Photobooth. These effects are available for G5 and Intel processor.

Some are supported by PowerPC G4 with Powerboost to add support of the simple effects on your G4. "Cack-drop effects" will still be unavailable for G4 and G5.
If you want to remove all effects, run the installer or remove files in /Library/Compositions

- Made file opening routines less strict - Auto-Effects will now open corrupted files and will try to recover information. This help relieve a problem with the current Auto-Illustrator b0.4-r19 which is not quite producing valid .AFX files
- Added an Effect menu with:
- Arrange menu: Arrange randomly - scatters objects
- Masking menu: Flicker - randomly causes objects to flicker, Write-On - objects appear from first frame onwards
- Motion menu: Slide - move shapes in single direction, Sparks - move shapes in spark-like directions.

Boris Final Effects Complete 5.0.1 is an application containing over 100 native plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, Apple Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Combustion and Boris Red, FX and Graffiti. Final Effects Complete AVX offers a similar collection of native filters for Avid systems.

The Adobe After Effects 6.0 Plug-in update fixes problems in the Radial Wipe effect and in OpenGL shadows on Mac OS X v.10.3.
