Beginning with the Power Mac G4 AGP (Sawtooth) machines, Apple introduced version 2.0 of the Apple DVD Player software. This version (and subsequent releases) of the Apple DVD Player do not require DVD decoding and playback hardware in order to play DVD video disks.
However, at the same time, Apple introduced a limitation into the DVD player: if you have MacsBug (Apples machine-level debugger) installed, the Apple DVD Player will display an error message, and then exit.
The DVD Player helper performs exactly one function: it allows to use the Apple DVD Player software to watch DVD videos on a Mac on which MacsBug is installed.
All you have to do is drag the "DVD Player Helper" extension file onto your active System Folder and restart the machine.

DVD Imager 1.6 is a smart tool with which you can create burnable DVD disk images based on a DVD video disk that you have made using iDVD, or other means. Mac OS X 10.2 is required. Just drop any VIDEO_TS folder onto its icon and choose the location where you want the image saved. Destination should be on a local volume.
DVD Imager will prompt you to name the image volume, create the disk image, then quit. If you have a DVD burner, you should then be able to create a new DVD disk using the Burn command in Disk Copy. DVD Imager doesn't have the ability to decrypt video content but there are other programs for that. DVD Imager is an Applescript Studio GUI wrapper for Jorg Schilling's mkisofs binary executable.
