DS_Store files can be extremely annoying when you transfer files and folders to other systems. Windows and Linux make these files visible and they get in the way. If you are creating a CD, these .DS_Store files can also be visible.
There are two ways to get rid of these pesky files using DS_Store Cleaner.
If you have the Mac OS X or Windows version, just drag the folder you want to have cleaned onto the Application icon. DS_Store Cleaner will launch and automatically clean the folder and any sub folders. When it is finished, you will see an alert box which tells you how many .DS_Store files have been deleted.
An alternate way to run DS_Store Cleaner is to either double click on the Application icon or run the script (for the java version). DS_Store Cleaner will launch and prompt you to select a folder to clean. Once selected, DS_Store Cleaner will clean the folder and any sub folders. When it is finished, you will see an alert box which tells you how many .DS_Store files have been deleted.

A great way to share items between team or project members and can also help you keep your data synchronized across multiple systems (and web-accessible). It is very fast, especially if files are deleted inadvertently and restored due the use of a cache.
Hidden in your home directory (/Users/username/) is a directory named .dropbox where the application keeps a database of your account configuration (encrypted) and what should be synchronized to your local Dropbox folder. There is also a ~/.dropbox/cache directory which can get huge. Since Dropbox is not yet providing cache management to the agent application, you will have to manually clear this out if you want to free up space on your hard drive.

Digital cameras attach information to each photo you take. This information - called EXIF data - contains the time-stamp, aperture and shutter time amongst other things.
However some brands of cameras also attach a lot of (arguably) extraneous data. This is inconvenient for a number of reasons, but most of all the fact that iPhoto caches all this data in its Library file resulting in slower operation after each new import of photos. Affected camera brands include: Casio, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Nikon and Pentax - amongst others.
Purpose
This application will seamlessly clean your photos of extraneous exif data prior to importing into iPhoto.
Warning!

Needles to say that this was an educational project for me. While trying to create something like Visor for iTerm about a year ago I needed to figure out how to make a fading window without delving into Quarz Graphics too deeply.
Of course, Keyboard Cleaner comes free of cost. I even made a clunky video of how it works. Keyboard Cleaner is a Universal Binary and works with multi-monitor setups.
