PDF Document Inspector is a browser of a PDF documents contents. If youre not doing something pretty down-and-dirty with PDF, I cant imagine how it would be useful to you. On the other hand, if you are working with the innermost bits of a PDF file (like I was with Cheap Impostor), I cant think of any other tool out there that would help you figure out whats going wrong.

I wrote PDF Document Inspector as a part of developing my shareware application, Cheap Impostor. PDF Document Inspector is merely a wrapper over the PJX library I used to parse the input documents in Cheap Impostor. I found it invaluable for debugging, and I thought it might be useful to the community at large.

This viewer works by loading two documents that can be used at the same time. The first document is styled text formatted. The second document is a plain text version of the first document that also contains MTML2 markup. So many types of information gathering can be created for users of the two document system. Document Palette is a software designed to run in the background and to allow you to create new documents in the current folder.
With a folder active in Finder, press Control+Option+Command+N to make the palette appear, then select the document type you wish to create.

Piltdown is a general purpose HTML link checker. It works recursively to discover links and determine if the objects they point to are missing or relocated. Please review the readme file piltdown.txt for a full description.

Piltdown is written in Perl and will run on nearly any networked computer.

I wrote Piltdown after becoming frustrated with the alternatives. Most link checkers available on the Internet are either incomplete, inaccurate, or both. For example, certain Web servers do not respond appropriately to the HTTP "HEAD" request, so well written link checkers that depend on HEAD will report missing links where there are none. (My testing suggests that these non-compliant servers come from a certain corporation with initials "MS". Why am I not surprised?!) Another GUI based checker for OSX worked well, but flagged all relative links with a leading "/" as errors when they were not. And what about links that hide inside of CSS or javascript files? Most link checkers cant look inside these non-html files.

So there you have it. Piltdown is available for free (!), but please do not repackage or charge a fee for it. Piltdown comes without warrantee of any kind, expressed or implied. Generate Style Sheet Report is a QuarkXPress AppleScript that generates a report of all paragraph styles used in frontmost Quark document.

When you sign up, you will be sent an email message containing two email addresses, one for quick reporting and one for full reporting. You can use either one with this script.
